This isn't everyone, but really it seems to stand out in AoC. Yeah i expect gankers on the pvp server... but they get angry when you don't let them gank you.
I was in the noble district... and got 4 (or more) on 1 ganked from stealth with rangers on pillars and shit.....
I'm like alright time to sit near the guards till I see an opening. One guy goes afk or something so I kill him.. then run back to the guards... next a ranger starts cussing me out for standing near the guards.. I see her stealth on top of a brazier so I sneak up behind her (I'm a hox) and proceed to kill her.. right as I finish her off the barbarian buddy that was trying to double team me jumps out of stealth with a hit but I was moving and it missed. I dunno where the other 2 were, but they showed up a little later.
The ranger I killed taunts me non stop calling me a pussy for hanging near the guards.. guard humper.. and other lude acts to guards....threatens that I will not ever get through yadda yadda.
So what's going through this guy's head? You got a 4 on 1 advantage from stealth with a terrain advantage... and you're calling me a pussy?
Why is this so crappy in AoC its not the first person to do this... usually gankers aren't THAT logically inept... is it honorable to keep feeding them kills 1 on 4?

ive been in the same situations. ive found that most pvp'ers that use groups to go around ganking people that are alone are usually either teenagers with their friends or pvp elitests that dont want to take a chance of ruining their kill/death ratio being out alone.
so when either of those types of pvp'ers die no matter the way you kill them they have a fuckin fit.
i joined a guild in warhammer and aoc that had people like that. and they would get pissed in vent whenever we/they got killed by someone we were tryin to gank. and when we did gank someone they would gloat about it like they are all superior
Hehe, seems Tyranny will never change. Decent game, horrible PvP community.
Dunno why it seems that way though... I mean other games have loss to figure in, and they feature the same smacktards that are gloating one second and complaining the next, but it just seems worse. Maybe it's the fact that nothing slows people down from returning to these stupid tricks time and time again after failing. Risk is always the best pivot to balance on, and AoC totally lacks this.

Childish, petulant and immature: you'll find more of these kinds of people on PvP servers, true. You'll also notice this difference in global chat, between PvP and PvE servers (not including RP PvP server, these have generally an overall healthier if smaller community)
Not much to do about that, besides putting them on ignore and denying them the pleasure of getting even. The hardcore PvP'ers know that in FFA PvP combat that it'll be as much killing as well as dying when hunting, and is prepared for that. The wannabe PvP'er moves in packs, and likes to zerg their opponents with overwhelming odds.

Heh, yeah the PvP community of AoC is absolutely gawd awful. In most MMOs, I generally always play on the "PvP" server. Or in the case of Darkfall or Eve I participate actively in FFA PvP and enjoy it. While you got your occasional assclown, the majority are good people having clean fun.
That isn't the case with AoC. They take their asshattery to a level that just amazes me, and ruins what would otherwise be a fun free-for-all PvP environment in the hands of mature players. It's the only game I ever played where I got about halfway to level cap on a PvP server(and this was the RP server), and just decided it wasn't worth the bother anymore.... and I like to think I have a very thick skin when it comes to those sorts of things.
So I rerolled on the PvE servers, and the crowds alot better. Too bad really, a PvP server with a mature playerbase is tons of fun.
RP PvP servers are always better than the regular PvP servers in terms of community, in any MMO but certainly AoC: you'll still have the FFA PvP environment but far less of the childish and immature kind around.
And don't worry about the roleplayers, they're for the most part a relaxed bunch, it actually adds diversity and enriches the server with all kinds of fun events.

There are ganking guilds in this game, nuff said. This coupled with a really poor pvp system and mechanics, awful community, and barely functional sieges caps a really bad PvP experience.
This is turning more and more into a PvE game, I suggest you play on PvE server, it really improves the gaming experience tenfold. This isn't a game for the PvP at heart.
FC might try and improve pvp in the future but it's beyond fixing IMO, they'd do better to continue with their current direction.
I was on the RP PVP server. It was terrible. I can only imagine how terrible the regular one must be.
?? That's strange, it's not my experience with the RP PvP server, must have been a bad moment?
edit: I play on the EU servers, so I was referring to the Aquilonia server. I also think that EU servers are generally more relaxed than US servers I had expected though that the US RP PvP server would've been the same, my experience with the MMO's I played is that RP PvP servers are generally better community wise than pure PvP servers. I can be mistaken for the Cimmeria server, I don't play there.

I'm with you on that one, Draemos.
AoC is not a pvp game, its a ganking game.
This is what the developers want, what AoC is about.
This issue was raised several times on the test forums, but the devs don't want to change it. They say that ganking allows for more pvp.... according to them with less ganking there wouldn't be enough pvp. These people have obviously never played a real pvp game.
What they could at least do is have people who kill someone who does not fight back be automatically flagged as murderers. This way people would get together to hunt them down for memorable gameplay moments. But as it is now you get ganked and no one even tries to help you.
As for the strategic pvp, AoC's very foundations are so flawed due to how the zones were set up that you won't find it in this game. The zones are bad, but even with the zones the world would mean much more if they at least had 1 or 2 battlekeeps in each of the zones instead of having them outside of the game world; so that territorial ownership would have some value; guilds could then fight for something, trade and raise taxes on the financial transactions on their lands, etc...
If you are looking for pvp look elsewhere, you won't find it here.
Glad i am not the only one who found out the hard way that AoC pvp servers are garbage.I dont mind ganking if i have a fair chance but when i played on Tyranny i believe it was and i grabbed my first few instance quest's in the Underhalls and the Pict Temple place i was unable to even log in that area at around level 15 due to the gankers that were level 20 camping the beginning of the instances and the areas where people rezzed farming them constantly. Was sad really.I guess it was as bad as trying to quest in WoW in Hillsbrad(level 20-30 zone) and having rogues in tier 1(back then it was the best and hardly any was getting tier 2 from BWL/Ony yet)gank you repeatedly...
Im not against people who pvp on an even playing field but when idiots have to gank people half their level or camp them in noob zones thats just garbage and it makes the games hell. Its no surprise to me that alot of the max level people on pvp servers in WoW are transfer's.Guess for some its easier to level in protection and then transfer to gank lowbies.
AoC was much worse in terms of at least in WoW you had people who couldnt kill you.In AoC its KoS for everyone thats a lower level then you it seemed and to me it made the game unplayable hence the move back to Set where i play now when i play
4 on 1 at a chokepoint, ambushing people seems smart and strategic. The trash talking and whining by them though is in poor form. I have absolutely no problem with how people like to legally PVP whether its ambushing people at their weakest, or zerging 20-1. Someone has to play the bad guy.
Kudos to you for fighting back in game. Just NEVER respond with trash talking.
I had a similar issue in noble district where I got ganked, so I stealthed up and attacked the person as they were fighting someone else. After killing them like this a couple times and losing many more times, one of them complained that I always ambushed people and that they were trying to duel. To which I asked them why they did say that in the first place and why they were dueling in the middle of a FFA pvpzone. Then went on my way. The lesson being here that people have no respect the words FREE FOR ALL.
This was the rp pvp server btw.
Agreed, I enjoy a good PvP experience (like null-sec in EVE) but that game has a more mature playerbase than what I gather to be on the PvP servers in AoC. I suppose I'll be on the PvE server if I end up getting this game...sort of a shame since my guild is on Tyranny, but I just don't have the time to try to level a toon while being constantly ganked, if my one evening of gaming that week goes completely into trying to get one quest done around a bunch of spawn-camping e-peens, I'm going to be paying a monthly fee for frustration.
To the OP I'll agree that you acted smartly and kudos on taking them out, and to the gankers I think they were also being somewhat strategic in their in-game actions, but clearly not in their attitudes and speech.
Reminds me of the old days of SWG with bounty hunters and Jedi, I once lay "stealthed" outside a Jedi's house for over an hour, until he eventually changed the name of his house to read "Whine all you want I'm not coming out" so we could see it LOL Still though, that was good show for PvP, imho. I wanted to kill him and had a buddy with me so he was outnumbered, and he didn't want to get killed, so he used the game's existing defenses to help him survive. Nothing wrong there.
I think AoC might have intended a similar "Hey, that guy's a murderer, let's all go kill him!" aspect, but it just doesn't seem to be the case, at least from what I read and my limited (trial) experience.

FFA pvp servers are suppose to be a gank fest. I started playing AoC pvp server and loved being ganked and ganking others.
It reminded me of the old days of Asherons Call Darktide , Daoc Mordred , Everquest deity server, Shadowbane, and Vanguard SOH ffa pvp server.
back when i started Asherons call as soon as i spawned into the game for the first time as a lvl 1 player, there were a group of lvl 40's killing all the lvl 1's over and over again.
I got ganked over and over for about 30 min, but i finally was able to get away and run into the wilderness, and start lvling up. I finally stoped playing when i was lvl 112 with alot of good gank fest memories
I stopped playing AC to start playing Daoc Mordred ffa pvp server and again left after a few years with great gank fest memories.
Everquest players would gank each other then camp the corpse to kill em over and over again when they would run back to their corpse naked to get there stuff back.
Shadowbane was the best outta al of them imo, using track to find players and ganking them was awesome, i cant wait till the private server starts.
Vanguards ffa pvp server again was a great gankfest. I even joined a guild called Bank Gankers, we would camp the bank and gank anyone who came to bank there items. I'd prolly still be playing Vanguard if it wasnt for the class nerfs that made me quite.
While i was playing and enjoying the gank fest on AoC pvp server, i read a patch note one day that said they were putting in penalties for player killing. I immediately stopped playing and canceled my account.
I'm not going to pay to play a game where theres any kind of penalty for ganking and or pking for any reason, especially on a pvp server. Not when theres so many free to play games out there that have player killing penalties.
oh and whining and crying , trashtalk as been in all of my ffa pvp gank fest experiences over the past 11 years, i love it, its very entertaining.
You know what, thank you Roodawg for your post. I made a mistake in thinking that my opinions and desires when it comes to a game experience were standard across the MMO player-scape. Obviously there are gamers out there who love nothing more than a solid gankfest, and who am I to say they shouldn't have it?
I guess the best I can do is live and let live and then go play somewhere else if I don't like the rules of the playground. Of course, when the playground goes to utter shit and nobody sensible will touch it, then it becomes sad. But hey, not my job to make the playground a nice place, right? That's up to whoever designed/built it.

You fail to see the long term view though. If you make everyone's life miserable the game's population goes down (sometimes to borderline nothing... think Vanguard or hell even Mordred). These pvpers (which they aren't btw) like to pretend they are hardcore amazing pvpers. It's a pve mindset brought to pvp instead of stealing mobs and training they kill people who have no chance. Why? You should be punished because the behavior is childish and it's realistic.. no guard is gonna let a crazy murderer into town.
And trash talking and calling someone a wuss for not repeatedly dying is pretty special ed if you ask me. "Hey boost my k/d ratio so i can pretend I have skill!"
PvP servers in level/gear based games are ALWAYS horrible. Shouldn't be a surprise. Either PvP is in the core design of the game from the start, or it sucks.
Most if not all the pvpers that act that way are very immature kids/teens, a guild i was with made it a point to farm a list of players that acted in that manner, we made it to the point where they rage quit the server since just about all we did was nothing more than kill them over and over on site in order to give them a taste of their own stupidity.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Re-Roll on a PVE server and all of your problems will go away.
