I made this post by mistake, so edited and made this one. Am wondering do you as a gamer play any musical instruments? I am fond of speed metal. But my only instrument I ever played was a Baritone.  Poor me!  So what is your favorite musical instrument. If you play, tell us why you like it.

Bit of piano. I want to learn to play the acoustic guitar, but, with my degrading eyesight, reading sheetmusic is becoming rather difficult.

My wife plays a good meat pipe.

Guitar. I cant even begin to explain why, not with words. Of all my love affairs, I miss it, the most.

Most of everything you'll find in a common orchestra I can play. All of my closest relatives are the same.

I play piano and the vocal chords!  I really wish I could be better at piano, though. Unfortunately, I'll start practicing and I'll just feel inadequate and just stop.  I'm impatient like that sometimes. lol

But as far as why I like piano?  I think it's one of the easiest instrument to pick up, but one of the hardest ones to master.

That didn't happen so, I layed down my Guitar in shame. LOL image

If I can't play it fast I don't want to play it at all.

I Kick ass on drums though!

    Bah!

    Who cares about pure speed when you can play like this;

It's the first song of his that I ever learned, and by far the easiest. Works well in standard E, though it's meant for a 'standard' B tuning. I ended up liking how the bass of it sounds so much that I now tune all my acoustics to B, it's way similar to the E standard anyway, so it's easy to pick up.

  • No, I really have no musical talent to speak of. Sometimes I've thought about learning to play an instrument just to learn more about the gritty details of music. Sadly I have no idea where I'd even start.

I was a percussion performance major in college, with an emphasis in marimba performance. /props to anyone who knows anything about 4 mallet marimba playing.

I'm like this guy.  I tried to play the drums once, but I failed hardcore.  This is why I just listen and appreciate rather than try to create.

Guitars for years and years and years and years. Acoustic and electric. Six string and twelve. Cat string and steel. Chorus and distortion. Classical to grind.

You don’t pick one up and discover if you are good or not, you practice - often for years. It’s like learning a new language, not guitar hero ;)

Also vocals. Seems to come from the Irish side of the family :)

...as well as the attitude at times :D

You speak the truth my brother... I tell my students something similar to this all the time when they say they can't do something.

Everyone has it in them, it is really just how bad you want it and work for it.
