New Vanguard Communtiy Site

There's a new Vanguard community site out there, looks pretty bad ass and what the game might need to have a steady push this time.

As much as I loved Vanguard.. I hate to say it but I think its going to go the route of the Matrix

But I understand why so many people have a hard time letting go. A year to a year and a half ago I was one of the people trying desperately hard to convince people to give it another go.  I mean I went as far as buying copies for gamer friends and gamer family members for Christmas or birthdays.

Heck I bought my sister and her husband  copies 2 christmases ago, and they still havent even cracked the plastic on it. Why?,because of all the bad press and reviews the game got. They just werent interested in playing a buggy game that doesnt run well on most peoples machines.

I did get a some friends playing though. At least for awhile. Now I am happy in Aion and an occassional Age of Conan game sesssion.

In closing I want to say. Whiles its admirable that fans are still trying to do something for this game. Its almost pointless if the developers and producers of the game refuse to really give it the attention it needs to survive. Which SOE stopped doing long ago.

  • Nice effort, now if only everyone did that. But your reply is confusing, I don't think I understand, do you want people to give up? Or am I reading to much into it. Not always easy to tell with all the hate going around.

Its a great site, I really like the layout and it's a better representation of Vanguard than the official site.

Definitely need to plug this as the main site. Should definitely link the trial to it (if it's not already) and people will probably use that site more than the regular one. Lol.

Only thing it needs is more content it seems, so I guess we'll still be using SilkyVenom, VanguardSOHGuilds, VGTact, etc.

He's updated the site with icons and cool things.

  • SaienoSaieno Member Posts: 12

Hello all! Saw the forum post here about the site and thought I'd give an update! After the announcement of the Off the Isle website, we've had nearly one hundred users register for the site!

All last week I decided to focus on broadening out the sections little by little, getting more detailed as I go further into each section. Under Spheres there's a new Harvesting page, and theAdventuring Sphere received major additions, with some sweet looking original class icons!

Here's a brief example (Paladin, Bard, Shaman, and Druid):

    imageimageimageimage

Under World, each continent received tiny additions, but be sure to check it all out!

The next thing planned is to add basic pages to each continents section, especially Races. I am currently still working by myself, so updates will come slow but they are coming. I'm really excited about the custom icon I made, specifically out of necessity. There really wasn't anything in-game that met what I needed in term of visual presentation, and the original Vanguard icons are nice but too cartoony for the design of Off the Isle. So I set to work and create my own set of icons based on the icons already present in Vanguard. Hopefully you'll enjoy them.

It's definately a lot of work, but I enjoy Vanguard and want to see the community continue to grow. If you'd like to contribute in any way, please contact saieno@offtheisle.com. Thanks.

I would say Seradon. OR Xeth.

However, Seradon actually got to high one evening for whatever that's worth.

I play on Xeth, but the amount of people on here that play Seradon seems to be staggeringly high in comparison (not to mention that the MMORPG.com forum guild After Hours is on Seradon). I'd recommend you go to Seradon, honestly. I'm even thinking of switching all my toons over to Seradon to be with the After Hours folks, get a concerted united effort together, etc.

The Seradon server and the Afgter Housrs group has really been hopping as of late.  Guess we will need to get some ships and guild houses before long!  hehe

This group is sure making me like the game again!.  Nice to see gobs of people in the lower levels out there running around again!

Well keep us posted if SOE actually decided to put some more development behind it I might check it out again.. Dont know though so many good things coming down the line for Aion and I am updating my Age of Conan right now with their first Expansion.

That is something I always thought Vanguard needed was a good expansion for a relaunch.. I mean hell look at what its doing for Age of Conan. Unfortunately SOE just doesnt seem to care much at all for Vanguard.

You actually don't need to purchase the game. Simply make two trial accounts and subscribe, you'll be good to go!

Regarding www.offtheisle.com I think it's not fair to only call it a community site. That makes it sound like it's just a place for us to go and post little messages to each other and say hi. Off the Isle is a more than that. Saieno has done a fantastic job putting together informative videos and other information about the game.

Given that the site is only a few weeks old, have to say it's pretty darn impressive!

well depending on what happens tonight (we have a 22 month old daughter) we will atleast DL the game and with any luck will see you all tonight!

  • YilelienYilelien Member UncommonPosts: 324

Well we both got the game Dled last night. But the wife some how managed to DL the whole game not just the free trial. So on a good note she also has all of her old toons, but they were all on a different server.

So by the time we were all done Dling and patching we had a grumpy daughter and it was bed time. So we will try again tonight and see you all then :)

Maybe too late for this, but you don't need to buy copies at Best Buy (would be surprised if you could find them, honestly; I haven't seen a box in ages). Just sign up for trial accts and then convert them to subs; you only need to pay a sub fee to get a full account.

    See ya in Telon!

Just finished with the first class page, which is Dread Knight! (Can be seen at http://www.offtheisle.com/dreadknight )

I also redid the videos section to include the Intro Videos as well as the Off the Isle series. Each video should now play in a lightbox on the page, instead of opening another page to view it.

    Any and all suggestions welcome.

no reason to call it pointless, sure ppl know that it properbly will be a game they play till they feel they have seen all they wanted to, its a great game for what it is do agree that SOE is too lazy to develope anything much to the game themself, and atm just do all the bug fixing.

it will take alot of time for ppl to get through but sure not a game to expect to last for years to come. well you properbly know better, how long they can expect it to last :P   even if depends on how ppl play it.

You're right about them not having to. But I did just see a copy at my local Best Buy the other day. :)
