game world taking on a good, solid look

You gotta love the flame thrower shot.

Overall too, I'm becoming happier with the quality/feel of the world/graphics - what about you? IMO both the world and the players are taking on a more solid, fuller look and a nice distinctiveness. You see a screenshot and you know it is SW:TOR.

I'm less happy with having to wait another year but that serves me right for following a game so closely... meanwhile I can look forward to E3. :)

Me too. I think it looks good. Of course, I thought Star Trek looked good too. Then I played it.

Oh I'm sure you'll be just as right about SWTOR as you were about STO! Ha ha ha.

I hope Cryptic invests in kevlar armour at the next convention they invade saying they have the IP the fans their love.

    Nobody needs to die.

I love the look of the worlds. One of which I'm really liking is Alderaan, and also Belsavis. Alderaan because of all the mountain scenary and how its supposed to be a beautiful world, so I want to see for myself.

Belsavis for example, is half tropical, half ...Alderaan ish. Mountain and snow. That will be a little strange, but cool from the screens I've seen.

Longing for Skyrim, The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

I've never really had a problem with what I've seen from the game quite the opposite actually most of what I've seen from the game has impressed me though I think I'm much like another poster and I have avoided going out of my way to see shots of the game in such an early state, I haven't really paid great attention to any visuals since E3 last year which needless to say impressed me greatly.

I've got some faith in Bioware that this game in no way shape or form will come out like STO did, Bioware will atleast make sure that TOR much like WOW offers you one of the best RPG's you could possibly play with the added bonus of being able to play in a persistant world that doesn't end.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

It looks good enough and that should say more about gameplay, You can see that Bioware are using an Engine developed by Simutronics. Which means the prettyness is limited, what is not limited is the effort they can put into gameplay and in my opinion that says more about it than anything else.

What you say is right but you aren't stating anything we don't already know.

You are only limited by your artistic ability.  I see nothing wrong with the Hero Engine limiting Bioware from making a truly extraordinary looking game.

I agree , what I was meaning is that the graphics are good but they are not  over the top realistic and they have bought in at a good starting point meaning they can concentrate on Gameplay.(Or even Graphics if they want to , but they have given themselves good options).

I am a big fan of what Simutronics developed just so you know

Yeah, it's taking on a more solid look, the environments always looked rather nice imo, but they're also starting to replace the generic models that they used throughout almost all footage and content with customized ones, and they're adding more lighting and effects.

Take a look at this new little teaser shown last friday for example.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

"Good graphics" is not synonymous with "realistic graphics."  Bioware is clearly taking an artistic license with the visuals of the game (one I rather like).  I think SWTOR has looked rather decent, but some may clamor more for the technical side of graphics (where's my DirectX 10 support?!  Where are my soft volumetric shadows on environments?!).  I'm not saying those aren't there, but sometimes people get stuck trying to show off their video card rather than enjoying what's presented.

Bioware is a company that I happen to trust for quality (one of the very few).  The SWTOR website has focused heavily upon building a backstory, and this is where SWTOR will shine (imo).  Some mmorpg vets may find themselves frustrated with SWTOR (I don't care about story, where's my Force Lightning?!).

Uhm , I am talking with respect to this game . The Graphics are as they are because they are representative of the Engine they bought.

Realistic graphics can be Good but thats not the point. Gameplay for myself and good gfx is fine. Excelent gfx and no gameplay means someone wasted time all around. Pretty happy with the look as long as they increase planets 10 fold....
