still total garbage?

I beta'd this game, and I couldn't bring myself to even give it a shot when it rolled right into launch because:

It was a gankfest, basically you ran for your life until you got high level enough to gank the newbs, then the cycle repeated due to the huge incentives to gank, and the lack of clever anti-gank systems.  So not only did they not prevent ganking, they highly encouraged it with lucrative rewards.

the avatar combat was jerky, bugged,  imbalanced, ad-hoc, and the missions totally sucked

The economy was broken: ex. ships were nearly free, and a cow was 11 million gold!!

classes were super imbalanced:  some classes had literally no advantages, while some got endless free ships and didn't care if you beat them or not.

Basically I have accidentally made better mmo's in my sleep than what this game was at launch, and I just wanted to know if it changed or not.

I think a pirate mmo could be absolutely fantastic, and this game had some pro's (ship combat system kinda) but overall it was total crap.

Total garbage may be a bit strong.

But yeah, it's basically the same game.

Oh, some things have been changed (the economy is not quite that bad nowadays), but the core issues remain. And people are already complaining about low populations after the server merges.

Perhaps the most telling answer is the fact that no one has responded to say how much they love the game.

A pity about the wasted potential... The ship combat is basically good, but the rest....

Just because someone dosn't like a game dosn't mean it's a bad game. it just means that it's not the persons type of game they are used to playing. Like for instance I don't like World of Warcraft. I found it dull, boring and simplistic, but that dosn't mean it's a bad game, because obviously theres people out there who really enjoy it. You see were I'm comming from here? I think alot of people on this site don't really understand that and just use it as a place to complain and argue about what games they think are terrible and which ones are the second comming of jesus. Gamers judge, and assume too much without getting any facts first. And it seems pretty prevelant on this website.

    Anyways back on topic.

Please don't take this the wrong way my friend, but your opinions are a little off base... you are complaining about being ganked knowing full well that the game has pvp in it. It also is kind of weird someone was all the way back in beta and didn't even hardly give the game a shot after beta to make a full judgement on the game. How can anyone make a judgment on a game that was in beta stage? that dosn't make any sence at all.

This game has been out for a couple of years now.  Being someone who actually plays this game This game is far from total garbage, let alone a bad game in itself. Actually this game is probably alot better then most MMO's out there right now. I could name off 30 MMO's right off the top of my head right now that were ten times worse then this one.

Look I recently came back to this game, I partisipated in the beta just like you, and also partisipated in this game when it went retail. There has been alot of changes made to this game. I don't understand why you were getting ganked left right and centre, because the only way to get ganked is by going into a pvp zone meaning you activly have to sail right into the pvp zone. Unless you just sailed right into a pvp area without knowing it?

I have played some pretty terrible MMO's in the past 10 years (Oh believe me.. there has been some MMO's I've played that were so bad that in 2 weeks the game came out the servers went down and the company went bankrupt) and this one is definitly not bad in anyway. The game is absolutly beautiful, the gameplay is fun and challanging, and the classes are pretty balanced compared to most of the MMO's, but it's also not perfect eather. No game is. But, I don't really agree with anything your saying, because all of your opinions are based when you were in beta, and that was 2 Years ago. The reason I say this, is because I tried Darkfall online in beta and absolutly hated it. Said to people it was garbage I even Judged it. I came back 8 months later to try it out and loved it. I realized just how ignorant I was to judge somthing that wasn't fully finnished yet. Ever since then I have always waited awhile after a MMO has been released before stating such claims of just how good or bad I think it is. Lesson Learned for me. Just Like Darkfall this game has had alot of changes in the past 2 years.

My only complaint about this game is that the customization of the ships guns, and look of the ship is a little bland. I don't know if you ever played that game called New Horizens on supnes way way back in the 90's, but i really liked the ship customization you could do in it. Pirates of the bruning Sea seems to be lacking a bit in the customization interfaze. It just seems basic, and not too interactive, but other then that I don't have any real complaints.

This game isn't total crap. However this game like alot of other MMO's on the market right now is not perfect. It does have it's flaws. I'm not here to say how wonderful and amazing the game is, because that would be an utter lie. The game though is a Beautiful game, and worth a shot. I'm just being honest, and Honestly from reading alot of posts on this site from other MMO's alot of the feedback is pretty negative on here. So I don't really take what I read on here litarrly, because alot of the games that have been told to me on here that were terrible I ended up really enjoying them.

lol Have you even logged in recently and seen how many people are in the servers? IS everyone on this site even play this game or do they just make opinions based off the top of their heads?

Well it's not growing or they wouldn't be working on server mergers.

Yes you are right there, but it's also not dying eather. You should actually log in and play the game. Instead of forming your own opinion by just reading forums, and negative feedback on mmorpg.com, because on this site especially every game on this site. People are negative about every MMO on here no matter how good or bad it is. Judgeing things by just what you read is no differn't then turning on the T.V and believing every news story you see on T.V It's Complete and utter ignorance. Especially from a person who plays these types of games. Please don't take this the wrong way. I ment no offence. Sometimes what I type comes on too strong :)
