Starcraft 2 is awesome

I always preferred RTS games with huge battles. Starcraft 1 didn't deliver it, and since Starcraft 2 is the same as 1, it won't deliver it either. So: might be an ok game, but to be awesome it would have to deliver at least a tiny bit new good stuff.

The way (especially blizzard employees) comment SC2 games on YouTube is hilarious. They behave as if it's the most exciting thing ever and babble with 2000 words a minute, while the game is still exactly the same as a decade ago.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

I hope so because we need good mmos these days.

Absolutely. It's called responsible spending. And while I can't hold anyone else to the fire, I help prevent poor business and unethical practices.

And in this case, I stand up against a company that is run for capital gain at the direct expense of the welfare of its own employees. How's turning that blind eye treating you? Would be a damn shame if you were ever caught in a situation where your only bread and butter came at the expense of a boss who worked you like a slave, and the consumers didn't 'vote with their wallets' to end the work environment you were forced to endure daily.

That is exactly right, and we're not saying NO to save WoW, because it is already a lost cause. We are saying NO to dissuade the next group of greedy suits who decide to emulate Blizzard and Cryptic, etc.
We can prevent some of the future games from spewing this crap, but the sooner we start saying no, the better the results will be.
So - Stand up, pull up your pants, and walk away.

Here's hoping for World of Starcraft :D

I may try it when it's released. Never been much of a fan of RTS in general (too much click, too little strategy IMO) but I do like SCI-Fi based combat games. How does it compare to Warhammer 40K ?  I liked the first game in that series....pretty much hate DOW2 though.

I'm much more a fan of Turn Based Strategy or WEGO (aka Combat Mission) games, they seem to allow for alot more depth of thought. Most RTS games feel more to me like watching stuff blow up then planning strategy. Also resource gathering or base building just doesn't feel right for the scale represented in most RTS games....which really isn't Strategic at all but rather Tactical.

Last RTS game that I played which I actualy enjoyed was Officers over at Matrix Games. I only played the Beta, but thought they did a very decent job with it.

Honestly I think almost anything that Matrix publishes blows away the stuff put out by the big publishers. Most of the Developers that Matrix works with really know how to build WARGAMES....from my perspective folks like Blizzard and THQ are more about building Graphical Shooters...

Sc2 is just a remake with better graphics, as usual no innovation and still blizzard make so many ppl worship starcraft as the god of rts...

even though from a competitive aspect sc1 is still better because of the fewer mechanics and the clickfest.

Sc2 is just even more noob friendly with 100 mechanics that help, like 5 pheonix>target ability at 1 unit> each pheonix targets a different unit close to the unit you chose. Seriously, what will be next? Auto production that counters whatever units the opponent has on the field?!?

its just like wow no innovation at all, just the usual clickfest style of rts

Thats why i prefer ruse as a strategy game instead of sc2

It isn't the most complex rts by any means but it sure is one of the most fun to play.

Not read the whole thread, just the first page..

BTW who the hell is going to play the normal SC 2 maps, almost everyone will be playing the mods like Warcraft III. I can't wait for a DOTA mod to be made using the Galaxy editor. It's going to be epic.

And before anyone says that a DOTA type mod can't be made because there is no experience bar, I'd say please do your researcgh first. Blizzard is specifically including an experience feature in SC2 galaxy editor to enable modders to make a Dota type MOD.

Warcraft III is still being played to this day because of it's awesome wold editor and the same will happen with SC 2.

I for one will be definitely buying the game to make mods and maps with the awesome editor.

I have moved on to games like HON and DOTA for PVP since in MMO's PVP sucks and I will most probably never come back to MMO's because of the boring grind and quests. Playing MODs in starcraft II will be way more fun than any of the craptastic MMO's out there at the moment.

Fun is subjective. I had more fun playing cnc3:kw (it would be very good if EA cared a little about their games instead of rushing titles) which had exactly the same rts gameplay style as sc.

I dont know how fun is to play the same gameplay style disguised with new graphics, name and a lot of marketing...

Hopefully there are other companies out there trying to make something new in the rts genre

Always amazing how much hype Blizzard gets for every single fart they do.

I see no reason to go to starcraft 2,  starcraft 1 offers the same game with less flashing effects (less strain on eyes) and a lan modus, no bnet requirement etc.

Overall starcraft 2 would be nice as a 30bucks title without the eula bs but as it is it's not worth the money.

Shiny graphics aren't worth the loss of freedom at the price of a new title!

Yep, Im going to try that but I dont think SC 2 is better than anything. I mean SC 1 was realy great strategy game with a lot of action. But since this game (SC 2) makes also Blizz it means for me its SC 1 with better graphic + a bit improvment, thats all. So no point for buying the game, just try demo and thats it. Blizz is always making game for money - or for fans? Yea for fans who like to play same game again and again - just w8 10 years till they forgot almost about your game and new PC wont run it cause its too old, than make Whatever Game 2 and there you go - thats how Blizzard roll. :D

P.S. Best strategy ever? Definitely Pharaoh ;) Btw Blizz fans who are expecting something extra new from next Diablo - dont, it wont be.

Played: Lineage 2,Guild Wars 1 and 2, Age of Conan, Ragnarok Online, LOTRO, World of Warcraft, League of Legends, EvE online
Tried: KAL Online, Face of Mankind, ROSE online
    Playing: CS:GO
