Ya, I have to say they definatly captured the feel of the matrix.
As for the diversity, my biggest issue was all those vast building and they were nothing more then terrain for the most part that I saw. Unless I can interact with it and go into it they really don't mean much to me other then decoration.

...You can go into 95% of all buildings in MXO. And he likely wasn't looking for 'discussion' he was making an announcement. Where would the discussion have gone? He doesn't like the game, he's said as much, and has said he won't be playing. That type of thread is not meant for a 'response' he just wants attention to his opinion, but not necessarily a response unless its to agree oh yeah MXO sucks. Nothing good comes out of threads like this, especially when they simply don't provide any valid points. People never state that what they don't like about MXO, is exactly that, what THEY don't like, they speak of it matter of factly, as if the game is flawed. That's why I attack those posts. Granted the software has more flaws right now than I could list on my fingers and toes, but the ones that are often in mention here, are the same things over and over, that actually aren't really flaws at all. (well usually )

And instead of asking him about his experience after he started the dialogue and asking him what he didn't like so that if he is incorrect you can explain to him or debate it you are too lazy too and want him to bullet point it all out for you nice and neat? Nice, there was nothing wrong with his post, he didn't flame, you are ASSUMING he was and that he was saying "MXO SUCKS" and you went too far.
I will be sure if I ever respond to any of your posts in the future I have all my valid points bulleted out for you so you don't tell me what I have say isn't valid or I am just flaming.

Originally posted by Roin Originally posted by Rock21 First I'll chime in on the rock/paper/scissors garbage because that is my absolute pet peeve with some of the comments about this game. RPS couldn't be farther from the truth. I've posted this before so here we go:This is one of the biggest misconceptions of MxO. It is a virtually rolled number, not rock-paper-scissors. For one, RPS give you three possible outcomes and we have four basic types of attack to start with (Speed, Power, Grab, Block). Now, what abilities do you have loaded up to attack with? Kung Fu? Karate? Handguns? This makes a difference. If you go in with Handguns against a Kung Fu Master be prepared to be disarmed at some point. If you're disarmed you better have some martial arts loaded as a backup or your opponent will clean your clock. Oh, and you better have been leveling up your abilities as well. So now that we've made the number of combinations numerous (Power attack with Kung Fu level 10, Speed attack with Handguns level 15, etc.) let's toss in those ability moves you can snap off in the midst of combat like Disarming Shot, or Overhand Smash, or Guard Breaker, etc. Rock-paper-scissors = 3 choices. MxO combat = many, many choices. The amount of depth in the game is growing by the day. It sounds as if some of these poster haven't been in on the sneak preview. It's been stated for a while now that story would drive this game and now that is beginning to be seen. Sure, you could mob hunt all you want just like any other MMO but there have always been plenty of other options. More was just added. And, as far as the term "fanboy," jeez, just because someone likes something they're a "fanboy"? OK, I guess not only am I a Matrix Online fanboy but I'm also a Red Sox fanboy, a coffee fanboy, an old Motley Crue fanboy, a veal parmesan fanboy, a Right Guard fanboy, a Pepsi fanboy, a rum fanboy... gimme a break. The truth is, this is a great game. Deal with the fact it was beta.
And yet again I'll say just because you repost 'why' you don't think it's RPS. That that doesn't mean it's not RPS.

After playing beta for almost six months and being a part of the Matrix Online community for about a year this is the first actual flame I'm tossing out there:
Originally posted by RelentlessSG But it feels like a generic game of rock/paper/sisciors.
It is not rock paper scissors. There are die rolls just like any other game to determine your scores, those are compared and the higher wins. Just because there is an animation of the 2 icons colliding doesn't make it rock paper scissors.
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.
Who cares anymore? After the last few days event and its culminating event last night -- anyone who was logged on will be playing the game at launch. It was absolutely insane how great the experience was, anyone who isn't playing is just cheating themselves. The game sold itself yesterday, doesn't need any PR to do it anymore, after that.
All I heard after that from everyone was: "Is it too late to preorder?" of course we all responded with a resounding "NO "
So whoever wants to, can troll all they like, but they should perhaps pick up the game instead, cos you're only cheating yourself.

Agreed, that was an absolute load of fun. We've been saying for a while, "Just wait until the storyline is implemented." and the experience was sweet!
This is definitely not some hack-n-slash grind hell. Immersion into the Matrix world is high.

Hmm, maybe those who are still considering getting the game would care? And how is trolling any different from what you are doing, shooting down anyone who might say anything bad about MxO, replying with such reasons as "This game is awesome because it's the best MMORPG to come along!" with little proof. No game 'sells' itself by having some sort of massive event at the end of beta. Plenty of game companies do this and their game ends up as a flop. Do you really think they'll be having those sort of events every other day when the game goes live?
I'm still pretty sure the game will flop. There's nothing exciting about the game, it doesn't refine any gameplay mechanics nor introduce anything new. Even the combat system, though boasting some sort of power struggle system, boils down to rolling some dice and hoping you get higher than your opponent. It's like playing RISK in the Matrix. Of course, there will still be fans that stick to the game like glue and refuse to accept the fact that their game sucks.
Let me ask you a question: if the Matrix movies didn't come out and they decided to just make the game by itself, would you still be interested?
Ranma -- games are about enjoying yourself, fun, no one is going to 'glue' themselves to the game in denial the game 'sucks'. If they are playing it and enjoying it, to them, its a good game, and thats all that matters.
Simple as that. There are a great many who enjoy this game, enough to fill up servers and keep thigns going. Thats all it needs.
Your points are silly in trying to say the game doesnt bring anything new to the table. I won't even dignify that beyond what I've said so far, thats a pretty ridiculous statement.
Keep on trolling. What do you want from me, really?

That's interesting... my EB games has a long list of pre-orders. This isn't going to be a WoW killer... a sci-fi MMORPG would need to be really fantastic and hit on all the right elements to achieve that. Even then, I have my doubts a sci-fi game could take the top spot in the fantasy dominated MMORPG scene. Having said that, it was a really fun beta run for me and I'm looking forward to playing the game.
one thing I don't like about Mxo is the community. Look at the forum. Man !! ton of childish behaviour. they were like talking about pokemon and spiderman.....

The Matrix Online is also a license and a sci-fi game, so it has just as much potential to do the same.

I don't think it will. Galaxies has been one of the biggest sci-fi MMORPG's and according to http://www.mmogchart.com/ holds 3.4% of the market share at the moment. Compare that to the 15-25% market share held by some of the Fantasy MMORPG's like Lineage or WoW.
Star Wars is a different creature though - it had a massive and dedicated fan base to begin with. The Matrix has a cult following, but a lot of it was lost after the sequels which didn't live up to many people's expectations. I don't think MxO will garner the kind of subscriptions SWG had. It would be nice... I just don't expect it.
Having said that... I think it will still be a successful game in it's own right. Expecting it to topple WoW or EQ2 isn't realistic though.
