Guild Wars 2: Blog Update Reveals Convention Details, First Hands-On Date

ArenaNet's Chris Lye updated the official ArenaNet blog today with convention circuit details for Guild Wars 2, revealing that the studio will not have a show-floor presence at E3, and that the game will get its first hands-on demo at this year's Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
Those of you on this side of the pond need not fret, however, as we'll be able to get our grubby hands on the game at PAX Prime which will follow just a few weeks later in September.

Yep figured they wouldn't be at E3, but the rest looks very promising.

no E3 kind of bumed but good news as a demo can only mean progress and progress (in the right direction) is a great thing
beta... i don't see it till next fall and i doubt it will be open... i can see them maybe doing a weekend test for stress...but not a crazy open one...hope we can get some good news from this and pax tho but Anet loves pax so much so i expected them to be there...in full force
hopefully we can get something at Comic Con as well....which will be the highlight of my summer...for like the 10th year in a row

Just went to Phoenix Comic Con this past weekend and saw nothing there from them, would have been awesome though. If you guys get it elsewhere im gonna be jealous.
Mhh .. Gamescom is a 2,5 hrs travel by car for me ... a playable gw2 whould be a good reason to have a look

not surprising, E3 isnt what it used to be. Year after year more and more game developers are ditching E3 and with good reason.

Guild Wars 2 at gamescom in my hometown cologne... awesome!
Looks good, this and Kotor are my great white hopes for next year aslong as they make it a bit more interesting to level than GW1, Factions and nightfall had beautiful settings and nice stories but the questing/leveling system was just missing something to propell it beyond average imho.
I really love Guild Wars, and anticipating very much Guild Wars 2.
And I would like to go to gamescom, but we will see - for me its not so close, or not so easy to go there - but definietly easier than pax...
Music to my ears!! Loved GW1 and hope GW2 will be even better.

Demo soon is great news.. mainly because this means that in the coming weeks we should be overloaded with more information about the game since it will be playable to some extent in the near future.
I closed beta tested the original Guild Wars. I even sent them hot chocolate & cookies as a thank you for allowing me to test the game. I wonder if my past generosity grants me a better chance of testing Guild Wars 2? Time will tell! ¦Þ
