Recomend me a class

SeasonzSeasonz Member Posts: 113

I'ev been stumbled all day.
I have a level 18 hunter, but they arent too good in pvp, well atleast thats what im told. So I want a different class. I would be a shaman but I want to stay alliance for I have a good guild. I dont really wana be a magic user, but I thought about being a druid. However Im not big into shapeshifting either =). Priests are to hard to lvl [ so im told ] and people tell me to not be a pally because they are boring o-o. So I dont know what to do. Is there some sort of druid build thats good in pvp / builds away from shape shifting? Like.. shamans can be melee or spell casters, is there somthing like that for druids?

Don't believe too much what peple tell you :)

Hunters aren't bad for PvP, play a priest and paladin a bit and decide yourself whether they are boring or not, druids beside being gimped in shapeshifitng still are good in PvP, most people cry shamans are too god in PvP, blah blah blah, etc.

In short - most classes are good in PvP with warrios and shamans being on the opposite ends of balance.

Leveling is really fast in WoW so just try each class to their teens before deicding which one to stick with.

Paladin is the ultimate class even though they have been nerfed recently they still are the strongest above all else.

whoever told you the suck for pvp should get their head examined. Hunters are fantastic in raids and will be even better when battle grounds go out. Just remember to go marksman. All I have to say is one well placed aim shot can completely kill a caster.

The people you have been talking obviously just duel. Which yes is an area that hunters faulter, the ye old one on one matches. But thats mainly because people can take advantage of your close range limitations. However get into a raid watch the mass choas insue, turn on track humoniods find a mage and fire. Just call yourself lee harvey oswald.

    50 mage Kargath

Edit: Oh if you like the hunter you should consider going allaince the Night Elf Shadow Meld is all to useful for sniping :)

Edit: Also go bow vs gun. Dispite the lack of bows in WOW you'll be better off for it as they don't make that real loud sound effect when being fired. Gives you less of a chance to be noticed.

mmmh... if you do not like shapeshifiting.. you are basically left with an excellent healer and a mediocre mage... so... you are really losing a great deal of what makes a druid... unique. But if that is what you want, go for it (they also have more survivability than priests thanks to the Leather armor... and the Bear form)

(Being a Tank/DPS/healer/minor mage hybrid is really nice :)))

You also did not consider a Rogue... they are pretty nice in PvP i'm told.

i dont know what class to recommend....if yur horde, go shammy and if yur alliance go pally....but if you like sneaking up on folks and killing them, rogue all the way...if you have patience or friends in game, roll a priest.

only thing i havent played is hunter....i had a controller in CoH, i dont want pets anymore in my mmorgp gaming^^..not my thang.

I say to play whatever class you have fun with. If you are enjoying your hunter, play your hunter. What may be great in PvP this week might suck in PvP next week after a nerf comes through or another class gets buffed. The only real way to always have the "best" class for PvP is to have a level 60 character in ecah class so you'll always have the flavor of the month.

I don't think there is any class that's not viable in PvP. You just have to be smart about how you play your class. Skills that are amazingly effective in PvE could be completely worthless in PvP. If you can't adapt to the two styles, of course you'll think that a certain class is better in PvP than another class.

As for listening to what other people say, the first rule about WoW is ignore the masses. Most of the people who post on the boards are whiners and trolls. Try different classes and see what you like! I have a Druid, Hunter, Pally, Priest and Warlock all over level 20. My highest is level 44. Why? Because each play style differs so much that it's fun having that variety. My pally is a great tank but has no ranged attack. My hunter and warlock are good at ranged attacks, as long as their pets tank for them. There's a ton of variety here - play what you like.

Mages deal out the most DPS, but are 100% reliant on their distance, which is compiled with their AoE spells. But, they're not great for duels, unless you have your frost talents up high enough to make a huge difference.

Where mages come into play for a huge success is either Solor or Raid. Mages make a difference in a raid because they can immobolize a large group of monsters for a series of moments, saving the corpse run time by about half.

Another good thing about Mages is that they can solo an elite at the same level of your character. I have never had a problem soloing anything my level, though the elites can be tricky. (elites have about 3 times as much health as they would normally)

Mage or priest, are high lvls they are always in demand for instances.

  • VercadesVercades Member Posts: 1,065
Healers are the ones in demand, Mages are slow at kill rate although they are power houses and can take down one real quick but, eventually they'll have to recharge is why they're bad at mobs..   They can also be an ultimate tank for a couple seconds once they get that ice wall  skill up in higher levels.

Me: Twinkie I don't usualy like to disagree with you, but in this instance I am. Look under the arcane tree and note the five point tallent that allows you to make arcane expolsain an instant. Then imagine the sheer chaos you can unleash being a 3ft tall gome runnign around in a sea of hored firing that thing off one after another after another. Also smart mages don't stay at range in hunter duels :) .

Twinkie: which is compiled with their AoE spells. But, they're not great for duels, unless you have your frost talents up high enough to make a huge difference.

Me: I don't loose often and when I do it's usually to a rogue. A well placed counter spell and knowing your oppenents strengths and weekness can make all the difrence in a duel.

Me: I totaly agree about the raid or instances thing, however soloing is another story. Yes you can kill a most of even level but really that can be said of just about every class in WOW. The problem lies two fold, one as a caster taking on things 3 levels plus can be a pain due to the amount of resists and two mages sheer amount of mana that needs replacing means that you have to sit about every two to three mobs your level. This, at higher levels, means sitting down of a minute or so. Which, if you've played other mmorpgs isn't to bad, however compaired to other classes, most notibley the hunter or paladin who have little or no downtime you will find yourself with a class that really lacks in the solo deparment. Also taking on more than one target when the other target is not a humaniod can be tricky business for a mage, another problem other classes seem not to have.

Twinky: Another good thing about Mages is that they can solo an elite at the same level of your character. I have never had a problem soloing anything my level, though the elites can be tricky. (elites have about 3 times as much health as they would normally.

Me: Agreed mages can solo mobs there level... if they spec fire. Which means you are severaly limiting the potental you have to group well. While fire does make for an excellent pulling tool, and can make soloing easier it does generate a heck of a lot more threat, than say an arcane spec mage does. And as I'm sure we all know making the priest loose focus from the tank to throw the mage a few heals can often lead to a TPK.

PS: Don't ask why I formated this the way I did, I have no clue.

heres something I did when I was faced with the same exact question. I have a level 33 Rogue and sometimes just want to try something new...so I made a bunch of characters that span the different classes. This way you can just get a feel for what you like. When you not playing them, just drop them off in an Inn and come back to them whenever you are in the mood for that particular character.

Also, priests are fun. I thought they would be too hard to play and/or level, but I really enjoy it. I'm making him a Shadow Priest.

    Just a thought...

    1. I have a lvl 50 hunter and can take down any class my lvl most of the time (1v1). How good you are in PvP is a direct relation to how well you know your class. I have found MANY hunters do NOT know how to play the class. They do not get the trap skills and when they do they have NO idea on how to use them. So basically they lose out on about 500-600 dam just because "traps suck". whatever.

    2. It REALLY sounds like you would enjoy rogue. The class is all about dps and is not as weighted down as other classes. Plus you get stealth and pick pockets. hehe

    3. I have a LOT of alts. I think most people do. I like Hunter the best. It is a versitale class that allows you to do ranged damage and melee as well as it is the only class that give you direct control over managing hate (growl, cower, disengage, feign death, freezing trap, concussive shot, pet agro, etc). But just because Hunter is my favorite doesn't mean I don't like my Mage (they are hefty damage dealers) or my rogue (see #2), or even my Paladin (actually my only problem with Pally is they are slow (movement wise). Priest, Warlock and Mage really are for more advanced users (Like in any RPG the casters are the hardest to play). Warrior should be a LOT better after this next patch.

So to conclude... I think you should try rogue or stick with hunter longer. You really like melee so... Be aware of your class no matter what class you choose, because in the end if you don't know where how and why to use your abilities, skills or talents you are a sitting duck in PvP. hehe I know from experience.

I play a level 51 Druid, spec'd to arcane and nature damage nuking. Truth be told I can not PvP for the life of me. But I am very useful in a group for heals near on par with a non heal spec'd preist, and for the massive Damage Per Second (DPS) that I can lay out. This is not as good as a Mage or even a Warlock spec'd to nukes, but it does the trick. My Hurricane spell is a nice Area Of Effect (AoE) spell that can be upgraded a great deal to 100 points per wave for a duration. But as far as PvP goes I am not much use solo. Group PvP however... thats a different story. Simply put when the enemy rushes at the healer (you) to kill you, you suddenly start hitting with nukes and DoTs and then pop you turn into a bear, and maul them (usually giving you enough hitpoints to live while the rest of the party kills the enemy). This will only work in a group where you have outside DPS hitting the opponents. Solo PvP they just melee you to death or root and nuke you to death with ease... we have to little armour and hitpoints to stand up to it (even in bear form spec'd as a shapeshifter).

Good PvP? Good Grouping? Good Solo? Go Paladin. Boring? No more than any other class and much less boring than Preists or Mages (who tend to have a limited scope) for most players.
