Warhammer Online Newsletter - May 2010Our solution is to introduce a new system that will let you set your armor and weapon appearance independently of your armor stats, so that you can look how you want to look and yet keep the statistics that you personally prefer. The goal is to give players the added benefit of having the new armor sets available to them, but the ability to change their appearance if they dont like the way they look. We also think this will introduce a level of customization that players want to have for their characters. We will share more details around this system and the mechanics of how it works as we get closer to 1.3.6
Good stuff.

Definitely.
Like EQ2, nice.
Good, but trivial.

Trivial, but good
Oh I see it... funeral suit.
Now seriously, this is the kind of "new content" they are adding to the game......chapeau
Should've been done awhile back in my eyes but atleast its being done
Good, trivial to use, extremely difficult to master the epicness look
I thought that armour were used in this game to make a assessment how hard the opponent will be.
Guess we will be fighing tyrant geared players in hello kitty armour from now on
IM happy with anything new.

Sry players, this is FAR from any kind of "update"
I play all ghame
She did also mention in the letter that they are adding new content. Something in the form of a new city. This could be a new zone like lotd or they could finally be implementing the other races cities finally.
Next month she said she would release more on what exactly that is.
So yes they are planning on new content and the next patch will have more than just armor visual changes.

Carrie said in the email - "Here’s a hint: We want to make sure that you have proper incentive to wear that shiny new armor that you’re winning in the new city." I hardly take that, as her saying their adding a new city >.>
What she meant to say - " We are going to add another bullshit grind to gain some kind of new token perhaps, while you fight in the new city (New city being, the cities we have now, but with the new city changes).
Plus is appearance armor really that big of a deal for some you??? This is a goddamn PvP game, not dress my dolly online.
I must give credit to Carrie, though..... Mythic are the biggest group of dumbass's I've seen in a while. But shes right in the front lines... taking the blows, for all the useless shit they keep pulling out of their hat.
Wouldn't it have been nice to tie this into some kind of crafting (like some other games have done).
Theyve said since shortly after launch that they will NOT be putting in those new cities, ever. That said, IF they were to do any sort of new city, it would be something new (perhaps with new zone, possibly new races?), but not the originally planned cities.
And when they put those cities on hold they said that they were almost done but just wasn't fun enough and needed some polish. If that would be true they might have changed their opinion again, stupid to make 4 almost complete cities and then just scrap them.
Of course MJ could just have lied when he said that, if the truth was that they hadn't even started on a huge part of the intended content and he said that 6 weeks before launch it would have been an outcry.
Still, it is really sad. Those 6 cities were the intended endgame. Let's hope they actually make something that would make the endgame more fun and meaningful.
Maybe they actually are splitting destruction into 2 factions and making a greenskin city, that would balance the game better as it did with DaoC. That would probably be the best.
Actually Loke, I think they made the right choice NOT to put those cities in the game. After playing the game for a bit I can honestly say that they dilute the playerbase.
Just because a desiger builds something doesn't mean that it will benefit the game in the long run. The way it is now the playerbase can be funneled to end game content that capitalizes on everyone who might be interested.

I agree the missing cities were actually a blessing in disguise. Its been awhile since I've visited the WAR forums, but I remember months back you were making the same argument about the cities Loke. Of course its reasonable to be peeved about content once promised never being delivered, but those extra cities are probably the last thing WAR needs to turn things around.
Third faction though, I think everyone who played DAoC bitches about that and rightfully so. Greenskins probably should be leading their own faction; back when I played tabletop I remember the summer campaign with Archaon (Lord of the End of Times, a long but badass moniker) in which the forces of order and chaos lined up for an epic war and the greenskins under the banner of Grimgor Ironhide acted as a wildcard, siding with neither good or evil but just bashing whoever got in the way.
With Greenskins at the forefront, Mythic could have made a third faction of the more or less neutral in regards to chaos and order. Skaven and Ogres more or less fit this bill, and hell skaven and ogre models are in the game...
Beastmen should have fleshed out chaos, not Greenskins. Once again, models are in the game already....
Mythic started shoveling that same argument after a while as well (after the fact). Although I can see your point the last thing this game needed when it was released was to funnel people to the same place. I also doubt many of us would have complained if there had actually been 6 cities with various points interests related to each of them at release.
Sadly the flaws in the design (ignoring the performance) are why the missing cities seemed a blessing after a while.
That's exactly why they didn't put in the other cities.
They knew before launch, this would be a problem, because it would spread the population to thin. Even with just Altdorf, and IC.. it use to be a pain at certain time points (when population hit bottom).. to even get enough people just to take one damn city. It also lead to problem's even getting decent fight's in ORvR, because if the other side knew they would just get zerged to death... they would just turtle in their city. Then leave the game as RvE for the others, which was no damn fun at all, on either side of the fence.
Now what they should do, seeing how the other cities were made. Is add the other 4 cities in, tie in all AH, Bank crap....etc etc, into one universal being for all the cities. Place some kind of mechanic, in which only one city pairing can be taken over and done a day.
So one day it will be Empire and Chaos, next day Greenskin and Dwarf, and the next of course High Elf and Dark Elf. Then they could do it randomly also. Empire and Greenskin a different day, etc etc. Plus it's a simple solution to keep thing's atleast some what different, each day... so your not doing Altdorf and IC for the forty thousand time. I know the ORKS!!!!!!! and gobbo's would be happy chilling in their city
Though, at the end of the day... Mythic is to fucking dumb to think of anything like this.... so it won't happen. /sadface
Cool beans. I always liked (most of) WAR's armor, so I didn't really think it needed something like this, but more options are always nice. If the game had horrid, ugly armor and only a few good-looking pieces, I'd be campaigning for this from day one!
