I am pretty new on this site so I have a question. Why is the rating of this game still 7.0? In the last review it was rated 8.5. I you leave out the speculations if the game deserves a rate this high or not, I am still wondering how the rating system works. Again, it is not about if the game deserves this rating or not .

The review of the original game was a 7. The expansion and improvements were rated higher at 8.5. I am not sure why the 7 is listed still.
they really need to update this to the new rating, as imo it would bring more players in seeing an extremely solid rating from a site such as this. please take a look at this mmorpg.com
also , the rating is down from player rating of 8, yet no new comments in ratings at all? interesting... and fallen earth takes #1? VERY interesting. ppl were ranting about this on another thread.
bumping until this gets fixed.... come on mmorpg.com
It doesn't seem right that the rating never changes although games go through updates and changes.
Especially since they themselves rated Godslayer an 8.5. this would surely catch the eye of newcomers imo
Because the 8.5 only reflects the expansion, not the entire game. Only when the entire game is reviewed, will the rating for the entire game change.
If you look at other games, this is what you see. For example, DAOC was rated 8.5. You can look at the review ratings, and it never changed this. However, the re-review was a 7.5. That got the rating for the game changed to 7,5 from 8.5
So, if you want a new number listed, then have the site do a re-review of the game.
Hmm so they are able to review an expansion without the whole game. Good for them (him).
For me this would be somehow impossible because expansions don't bring only new content and unavoidably touch the game as a whole. It is just impossible and I find it unlogical to rate only the expansion.
They could rate the game 10.5 on a 1 to 10 scale and it still would not help the population. Only quality content and customer service can do that. FC is still obsessed over forum astroturfing and paid reviews I guess. Still have not figured out the only reallly effective marketing is face to face or friend to freind in guild chat etc.
I miss DAoC
Or word of mouth. AoC has been doing pretty well on that aspect, RotGS was generally received pretty well and the expansion and all the noticeable changes having been done the last 2 years managed to alleviate some of the damage to their rep and goodwill among the gamer community that the AoC launch brought.
General perception is that Funcom with this expansion didn't repeat the mistake it made at launch and has worked hard the last 2 years to make considerable improvement in several areas resulting currently in a smooth and entertaining gameplay experience to most that are trying it out again.
Will this lead to spectacular increases in player population? Mwah, competition is fierce and will only get fiercer with the upcoming MMO giants and wonderboys waiting around the corner.
And as they say: "you never get a second chance to make a first impression" will apply to a lot of gamers. A lot will try it out again, a number among them will like it that much that they stay, but more of the MMO gamers will simply have moved on, not give AoC a 2nd chance and are anticipating the next bling in MMO's that is appearing on the horizon.
AoC has a lot unique selling points that are speaking for the game and rate in several areas absolutely among the top of the pack, but I don't expect it to lead to phenomenal increases even if it has been growing in population for months now. For that they'd need a couple more smart moves, at least equal to the RotGS launch. For example a well-working, exploit-free and highly intriguing Towers PvP experience I'd say would be one of them.
