Isn't there a War going on?

Ok, I know that i'll get flamed but I donn't care. I understand that we have really crappy stuff going on in the US, like the Schiavo Case which is a thing to keep our thoughts on, but I've been watching the big three news stations: MSNBC, CNN, FOX, and all i see is Michael Jackson's kiddie diddle case, Scott Peterson in San Quentin in Death Row, Baseball Steroid use (which i think is important), that guy who shot the judge and is back in jail, and a lot of other things that really are worthy of a few minutes but are given so much time by the media. Don't we have a war going on? aren't there soldiers fighting for.... something over there? I really don't think we should be spending 3 hours sitting outside the courthouse so we can hear about MJ, we could get little briefings. I want to know what's going on in Bush's great oil confiscation war, i want to know how social security is getting screwwed up. These are things that we need to know, but aren't getting told shit about. What do y'all think? Flame ON!

    Actually, Your right on.

As usual though, news it not news, its entertainment, and frankly the majority of the american public goes *yawn* when that old Iraq war is brought up.

Maybe if some more planes were flown into some of our large skyscrapers, they might get it back on the news.

But until then, your going to have to settle for Michael Jackson. They have to keep the news as exciting as all the "reality" TV shows out there.

Its all rather pathetic, which is why I don't even watch TV anymore execpt for the Science Channel, History Channel, and G4 Gaming Network. I get more worthwhile information from those sources, if your looking for current events, your best bet is the internet.

History Channel, and G4 Gaming Network are the only channels i watch too! oh and for the european guy, the politicians don't control the media over here like they do in the rest of the world, that is why we have things on the news that other countries wouldnt dare to air. except for CNN, pretty much all liberal...

fox news, fair and balanced :D

I'm guess that there hasnt been anything on the war because it is just about done and they are cleaning up and getting ready to ship out. lmao if i had a penny for every time some one said "because the war isnt going their way" I would live next to bill gates right now.

I'm not really a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I think this is probably closer to the mark than most people believe. While the media over in the middle of the frey does indeed report back to the USA of what they see and what is going on, before we hear about it on television or the radio, it gets verified by the government to make sure they aren't publishing information which could compromise lives over there. And I'd be willing to bet that the majority of it gets nullified by the government so instead of hearing about what is going on in the war, we hear Martha Stewart's name 1,000 times on the news.

I believe after the Gulf War, the government is more involved in what does get aired here in the US.

yeah, for safety reasons. anybody remember heraldo revera or whatever his name is, that on live tv in the search for osama (i think) he gave away the position of the crew he was running with lmao. that is probably why they would governt he media, besides things like that, they don't. what does annoy me though, are all the STUPID and ANNOYING army commercials...

What's even more annoying is the "stupid army commercials" in spanish.

Um, actually, the war is technically over. We are occupying the country atm while trying to help it form and hold a government Bush wants installed.

I never agreed with the actions, so it's kinda like a PC lover hacked into a Mac person's Mac and is trying to install Windows onto it... while the Mac person is sitting at the computer slamming the keys.

No big media outlets really do their jobs. Whatever side you're on there are plenty of independent media sources which talk about the war and all the goings on over there daily. Unfortunately we seem just as gulity as big media because we are watching these stupid stories day in and day out. If we weren't watching the garbage they wouldn't show it.

Media has turned into something like professional wrestling. It's always "liberal vs. conservative" or "red state vs. blue state". Everyone gets so caught up in it they forget we're all Americans and like it or not we need to work together.
