Just decided to resub after a year away and have a looksee . Unguildless I was asked to please sign a charter which and i thought i would help the guy out so he could get his guild started . Went about what i was doing (playing battlegrounds). I get the congratulations of your a founding member stuff . Then I see the message of the day F*CK OFF ALL . Honestly what going on with this game now .Its not just that its the arguements that seam to dominate general chat with people calling each other gay or noob or worse . Is it possible to find decent friendly mature people anymore in it ? I'm now trying a roll playing server instead to see if that attracts a different sort of player . Heres hoping . Will let you know how I got on in a month .

The son of my guild leader in WoW is an average DPS death knight with full knowledge of game lingo and lore

    and he's 11.

On the vent channel, he's invited all of his WoW friends to join our guild. It's now half-filled with kids between 10 - 14 years old. They never stop talking, and they are actually extremely rude if you dont know everything about the game. I quite enjoy being endlessly called a "fag" because i've never run ICC or Naxx.

I think what's happened is that the more old-school WoW players have brought their kids on thanks to the easy levelling curve. As a result, the kids see the "bad apples" of the community, and replicate their behaviour, just without that adult sense of "wait a minute... i'm spewing hatred here". They join their parents guilds, and are handed everything. This leads them to feel entitled to everything in-game simply because their daddy (or mommy) has some pull somewhere somehow.

The second thing i've noticed is groups of middle-schoolers in their own guilds. Think back to those days... every boy and girl was trying to assert dominance by being, for lack of better terminology, an absolute asshat. Plonk these socially confused and unevolved children in WoW with a gigantic sword and a level 80 toon, and you've got a serious attitude problem.

This is why i canceled wow and went back to Eve Online most kids dont have the patience for it wich makes for alot nicer community

I may give EVE online a try after this should I fail to find a decent guild . I'm going to keep my fingers crossed on the roll playing server , given its got spacific naming rules I thought kids that would want to call their character something silly would shy away from it . Well thats the theory will have to see if it pans out in practice . At the moment something more thoughtful and immersive like EVE is looking increasingly attractive I must say .

I started playing WoW again after a year and a half away, and I actually find it more enjoyable this time around. The one anoyance is there is 1 home schooled teen in my guild whose presence on vent always makes me feel uncomfortable. I am a mother of four children, I love kids! However when I want to relax and enjoy my game, I want to talk to grown ups and not worry about what I might say in front of a preteen.

I got to Stormwind on the roll playing server and the chat seamed pretty much in the same vain . I just ended up feeling I was wasting my time . I think all games have an element of immature and rude people but to me it appears they innundate Warcraft these days . I did try and ignore it by switching off the general chat channels but if you get into groups its still the same . I ended up feeling I was wasting my time leveling a character in the hope I might find a nice guild later in the game .  I'm afraid I found it just too annoying to keep playing . I really would have liked to see the new content because I've enjoyed WoW in the past but an mmo is much about the community as the game for me . Ah well I gave it a week but think I'd rather visit the dentist than stay for the whole month . Heres hopeing I'll have more luck with EVE (downloading the steam trial as we speak) .

ya left wow a while back and im not sorry !i tend to astear clear game with rude player.
before wow was a safe heaven from those kid because it costed something but now parent
sub their kids to it be rid of their brat without educating them with the result we see in wow.the funy thing is when you see those kids in front of their parent they act like little angel
but if parent saw their kid chat they would unsub their kid from wow in a hurry.
there are ton of = or better game out there so we dont have to put up with this kind of stuff.
oh there are langage filter but they are pretty mutch useless if you activate it .you dont see
anything just line upon line of filtered text lol.so in the end instead of me being mad i left and decided to look elsewhere for my gaming fix.and judging the popularity of werule and other similar game i bet im not the only one lol.

I agree if I were a parent WoW is the last place I would want my child to be . I guess at the end of the day if Warcraft attracts a certain type of player then its less likly they will play other mmos . Leaving them with smaller but more amiable communitys .

Due to many changes to the game, WOW has become a haven for those who just cannot make it in other MMOs due to lack of skill, the inability to treat fellow players as people instead of pixels, and/or just general jacknapery. While this happens to make it quite successfull financially, morally there are few  players left who are on par with other MMOs' communities. One need only look as far as the city chat channel at 5 PM to see what the target audience of this game has become. They bring in more cash, so the game is made around what Bobby feels they want.

I had such hopes WoW was something new and different. After reading what everyone has to say about Wow, guess I'll wait for FFX14 and who know how long of a wait it  will be?

Looks like fourth quarter of 2010, possibly first of 2011 if it hits some speed bumps.

I would be happy if I could find a decent guild.   I am on a RP server (Argent Dawn) and I went there thinking the players would be more mature.

    I was so wrong.

I tried a few guilds.  Ones that said Mature players, family friendly and so on.

In every case guild chat was a sewer.  It consisted of who had the largest penis, their "experience" with sex and down hill from there.

I have spent 3 years in the Army and thought I had heard everything.  Its really bad when you see things in a game chat that are worse than what you hear in a barracks.

Its hard to find a decent guild - true. But, instead of complaining about all the "immature" guilds and their lewd guildchat, why not just /gquit and find another? Its that easy. Took me a year or so to find a realy good guild on Skywall, not that I was looking for it - I was content of doing everything on my own (im not a raider). But, once I joined a random pug with a group of guildies, they were cool. They asked me to join in, I thought it would be just another one of those weekly guild where I hang around a week, see how much garbage they spew in guildchat then gquit. But, they turned out to be mature for real. So I stuck around and never regretted it.

Noone is forcing you to stay in a bad guild - just gquit, rince and repeate until you can find a good guild. Complaining about immature guilds/people in WoW is like complaining about kid-noise in Disneyland.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

That is true . The trouble is it seams almost impossible to find a happy medium in WoW these days .Your right  I don't think we should just blame the kids because some kids can be very mature and nice just as some adults can be immature and obnoxious . The thing is I just find it annoying now because its so hard to find the decent friendly players . Its a little like finding a needle in a haystack .  ahh well I guess things change . I had a lot of enjoyment from this game over the years and really thats all you can expect from any game .
