Yep. Sure will.  For as much as I've played and endured with this Indie title, gotta say that I've gotten as much entertainment value as I did from PotBS, Tabula Rasa, WAR, Aion, and STO in the last few years; perhaps more in some regards.

I'd rather it not be First-Person all the time, and that might be the straw, but with thievery out, particularly in towns, I'm in to experience their next build of this sandboxy title.

Has there ever been a more premature launch in the history of indie  MMO launches? Prove me wrong but I personally don't think there has!

Why are there so many cutesie, fantasy, childish MMO's. Give me blood, gore and a long lasting challenge. I don't need my hand being held along the way. Thanks.

Nothing against MO, but I've pretty much given up playing games at launch, preferring to wait at least 3 months to see if the game really has 'legs' or is everyone leaving in droves for one reason or another.

What bugs are you talking about? There's a couple of minor ones at the moment but nothing huge.

Really? I mean really? Everything about the game sounded cool until you start playing the the game is one big bug or exploit.

How bout the simplist of things, attacking a boar. If the dang thing isn't warping all over the place it's floating in the sky 15 feet above you.  I would consider this a pretty major bug that wasn't fix all the way up til they took all features off the game to test the new engine upgrade or whatnot.

There are 2 things to do in-game from my experience in beta.

    1) you can pvp which usually consisted of somebody exploiting the guard system and goading you to attack them and then calling guards and laughing. You can duel but the game was so unresponsive in combat that it just didn't feel fluid and enjoyable (IMO). You can gank people. Kill the few wildlife that surrounds the area.

    2) Craft. The most basic, unentertaining and frustrating crafting ever (IMO). Without Wiki telling you which recipes to get first to start off it's very hard for newcomers to know what is going on. The books give no explanation and once you buy the book, if you cannot learn it or get the wrong one there is no sell back. There are no animations while crafting. You just open a window and it makes it with no sounds, no nothing. A game that focuses on crafting should at least add sound effects or an animation or two. It would help make the game seem more alive.

Few other things that bothered me. No way to repair gear. When you weapon breaks it breaks. The only place to get new gear and weapons are other players and good luck in a game with no global, trade, guild chat. Not that this is a bad thing but player economy is seriously hurt like this. How? Well if nobody is in the vincinity of you how do you ask for a weaponsmith to craft something? No mail system, no autioneer of anykind, no player stalls for selling....nothing. People will call this "oldschool appeal" but I call it poor planning by the Devs.

OH SO YOU KNOW IT'S FIXED BUT YOU'LL STILL FLAME THE GAME ABOUT IT?

COMBAT GETS MORE FLUID AS YOUR SKILL INCREASES. COMBAT NOW REGISTERS PROPERLY MEANING DODGING ECT COUNTS. IF YOU GANK NEAR A GUARD ZONE THAT'S YOUR FAULT.

YES, CRAFTING REQUIRES YOU TO DO SOME READING ON WHAT WORKS WELL (CURRENTLY). YES CRAFTING REQUIRES YOU SKILL UP QUIET A FEW LORES/TYPES OF CRAFTING, CRAFTING IN MO ISN'T A SIDE THING YOU DO IT TAKES JUST AS MUCH IF NOT MORE TO BE A GOOD CRAFTER AS IT DOES TO BE A GOOD WARRIOR/ARCHER/WHATEVER. (I DO AGREE A TUTORIAL COULD BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE FUTURE BUT IT'S NOT NEEDED)

BOOKS ARE DIRTY CHEAP, ONE WOLF = ENOUGH MONEY FOR 2 BOOKS.  SOUNDS/ANIMATIONS WOULD BE GOOD BUT IT'S FLUFF AND OTHER THINGS NEED PRIORITY.

Few other things that bothered me. No way to repair gear. When you weapon breaks it breaks. TRY GOING TO A TOWN WHERE THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE AND ASKING, MAKE FRIENDS WITH CRAFTERS, JOIN A GUILD AND ASK OVER VENTRILO. PLAYER OWNED SHOPS WILL BE THERE, INFACT YOU CAN BUY A SHOP FROM MEDULI NOW (UNSURE IF THEY WORK AS INTENDED)

BREAKING GEAR IS ESSENTIAL TO KEEP THE ECONOMY MOVING, IF A SET OF ARMOUR LASTED YOU A MONTH CRAFTERS WOULD NOT BE NEEDED ENOUGH. THEY'VE BEEN BALANCING ARMOUR DURABILITY HOWEVER.

NO GLOBAL CHAT IS A GREAT THING, LOOK AT DARKFALL - SOON AS A SIEGE HAPPENS EVERYONE TURNS UP = MASS LAG.

I find my curious to know how you know the mobs have been fixed from warping and floating. Last I played it was still there up until they shut the beta down until release. I did play the empty client, but testing an empty game seemed like something MO could probably just do themselves.

I 100% disagree that sounds and animations for crafting would be "fluff." It's the single most important thing to do in MO. Not adding sound and animations would literally be the same as not adding sounds and animations to combat....both of which at this point are the only thing you can do in-game.

Making friends with crafters, as in any mmo, would obviously be most peoples first instint in this game. However, with no way of getting in contact with somebody other then maybe a forum or logging in the vent they happen to be in would be the only way to get in contact with such people. To me that a backwards approach to an MMO.  I wasn't aware they added player owned shops, but once again that was not in beta as well, nor did I see or hear anything about it up until now. That would GREATLY help out the economy.

I'm in the closed beta, the beta is still accessable to those who've brought the game.

Combat is different however, with no animations or sounds there is no indicator to if you even hit the person. I wouldn't worry i'm sure they won't just leave the crafting as it is.

Also, im playing EvE and SC2 now, but maybe next year.

Why would i pay for a game that so obviously needs at least 2 more years of development to be worth a penny, let alone $15 a month.

  • oakthornnoakthornn Member UncommonPosts: 863

I WILL be playing next week only because I pre ordered the game 11 months ago.. Back then, I was caught up in the hype and believed the game was going to be revolutionary..  Boy, If I knew then what I know now, I would NOT have pre ordered the game a year ago... But since I spent hard earned cash already, I might as well play when it launches... We'll see what happens from there...

Everything you said there is either your fault for not figuring out how the game works or incorrect due to you not reading up on shit. Please do some homework before you post about something you apparently have no clue about.

Most of the negative posts here towards SV are mostly filled with crap that gets fixed or has been fixed. Desync was the ball/dropper deal breaker for many. And now that its fixed there isn't much else to complain about except some petty shit like no crafting animations. Fluff will be added at launch.

5 days left til launch lets come back then and talk about the game, Im willing to bet many of you won't be here.

Oh yea, blame the consumers for your lack of polish on the game.

Let's see how that business strategy works out.

    Animations are fluff?

Sheesh, some people are easily pleased/conned.

I've played probably 30 hours worth of open beta and have read all through the wiki pages on crafting. The problem I have to go to an outside source for info on the game when a lot of it should be in-game. How is somebody new supposed to know the big windmill is actually the grinder for crafting? In-game it gives you not indication that the structure is used for crafting. It doesn't highlight up, there are no tutorials telling you what structures you can use for crafting, nothing. The wiki page in a sense is the tuturial, but how hard would it have been to just include that in-game? Same goes for all the crafting structures. If there is nothing in-game letting you know then a new player is seriously frustrated. Only a small % would think about going to the forums for info, because most feel an explanation should be in-game.

As far as animations and sounds for crafting being fluff, I still am 100% in disagreence over. If that was just a side activity sure, but when it's the main focus of a game other then pvp, then you really need to step that up. I am not saying they don't have plans to add this, I have no idea, but it's in my mind needed to set the atmosphere of the game.

I'll check back to the game when I can buy it for $5 in about 4 months and then I will make my decisions. After all this is all my open beta opinions and no way shape or form condemming the retail with my comments, because I do not know what retail is going to be like.

P.S. Chill out. OPINIONS, not facts.

Just sub'd.  All the positive and negative hype surrounding MO will be fleshed out tomorrow.   I'm going to take my chances with the hopes that it will be a solid game I can be a part of from the beginning.  Prolly won't be perfect but Im willing to give it a chance. I have a job, so I'm not worried about the $50.  I'll put in my review once I get some time in game.

Are you kidding? After the nightmare open beta? I couldn't even escape the starter town due to the lag, but from those who could, everything else wasn't turned on anyway. Whats worse, to fix the lag, they had to disable even MORE stuff? How many times did they claim to fix the desync, I counted 3.

So, what's it like now, closed beta open beta closed beta again players?

Lots of games get delayed.  I'm happy they did delay.  Hopefully they will deliver something great that will continue to improve over the coming months.  If the latest patch notes are any indicator it seems like they are really kicking butt to get it ready.
