Payment Plan.....What The Hell!!

IncubiJonnyIncubiJonny Member UncommonPosts: 10

First of all dont get me wrong, i think that having an option t pay monthly and to pay for game time is a great idea and more games should implement both ideas into the game in my opinion, but the problem i have comes from what ive read about the retail box.

Fromw hat i have read it appears that you are forced to have 50 hours of game time when you have purchased the game. They really should have just given you those points ive read about so you can choose wheather to spend them on game time or for monthly.

I like to get a game like this when i have a long break so i can be playing it as much as possible, usually around 8 hours a day with breaks in between so i make best use of my free month, but with this i will pobably only be bale to play the game for a week or so for the £35 that i paid for it.

I dont usually mind if i end up not liking a game after ive played it for a month, because by then ive had a lot of game time with it, if i play this and decide i dont like it, ive paid £35 for a game that lasts me only a week.

Hell, most games offer a week trial for free, while i would be paying £35 for what is similar to a weeks trial instead.

Anyone else dissapointed by this?

That is 50 hours in the action districts, you can spend as much time as you like in the social district. This means your 50 hours will last you alot longer than you think. Then you only pay £8 for a full month unlimited, so it is much cheaper than most MMO's.

Secondly you have been ripped off, Game sell APB for £25, even on steam it is only £30.

don't forget that those 50 hours only include the action district. The social district is unlimited.

@vidster. As far as I can tell, game don't offer any preorder incentives.

If you order via Apb.com you get :

    • As an APB VIP, you get access days before the rest of the world

    • A bonus 10 hours of game time!

    • Your own Key To The City, allowing access to the pre-launch event

    • Exclusive clothing options (for both Enforcer and Criminal characters)

    • An exclusive Decal

    • Two exclusive Emotes

    • An exclusive, customised vehicle

    It is £35 from there.

Considering I will be spending most of my time in the social area(doesn't use game time) messing with customization it doesn't really bother me.  It will probably take me a whole month to use up that 60 hours(game time from early access carries over to launch).

I like to have the game downloadable, saves space at home:)

I pre-ordered from Direct2Drive for ~£35 - as I don't like to have it integrated into Steam. I have some games into Steam, which I wish I didn't... So I gladly pay those extra £5 to keep my games outta the Steam-crap.

You can download the game from the APB website. So you could get the cheap box, make your account and enter your box key, then throw the box away and download the game whenever you like from the main site. image

Obviously there is the time in teh social district, but it does not seem as if i would spend very much of my time there. Sure id definatly spend a bit of time messing around with the awesome customisation tools, but i wont spend hours upon hours on customising stuff....let me change that 50 hours game time into 55 hours game time then. Still would like my monthly, and il still destroy that 50 hour within a week by my calculations when i get into harcore gamer mode.

You would think that, but it isn't the case. I signed up for pre-order at 27th of may. Put all the credentials in there, but I heard nothing of it. Then, decided to pre-order from D2D when I heard key to the city was going off at 10th of june. So that's why D2D.

Besides I like to have all those sort of games in one place, except for Steam, which I don't like.. Of obvious reasons.

I found the mail I got from APB at the time of registration of the pre-order(and at which I didn't hear from again):

"Thanks for taking the time to register your interest in All Points Bulletin the new persistent online action game from Realtime Worlds.

We will contact you once pre-orders are available on APB.com, as well as let you know when you’ll be able to join in with our ‘Key to the City’ demo event, before the game launches!

If you want to check out all of the exclusive items you receive as part of your apb.com pre-order package, then head over to our YouTube channel, where you can also get up to date with all of the latest info on APB.

If you’re receiving this email in error, or you feel that there is an issue with your pre-order, then please contact support@apb.com.

    - APB Team"

I swear i saw quite a few things about an open beta, but since the release is only 2 weeks away (i think) then it seems as if i wont be able to have a look at the game before i buy it :(

Was really excited about this game to see wheather it would be really good or an amazing overlyhyped flop, but am now wondering wheather im going to buy the box

Although there is a difference between the action and social district...who wants to waste their day sitting around and chatting? That's pretty much just trolling forums like we're doing right now, or spamming trade chat. I don't much care for the distinction between those two things honestly.

  • flaZhflaZh Member UncommonPosts: 144

Well, this game can be played two ways.

    1. Thief and copper style, GTA, guns, cars, gangs, city wars.

    2. For all those creative souls, can make cool cloths, cars, tattoos and even music, and sell it for in-game cash/points. For others to buy. And with all the cash you could buy other stuff that people made, game time or  take a part in version 1 written above.

I'll make this my only double post in this thread, but reading all those stupid discussions about payment for the game wants me to also say something, but I'll put it in the right thread.

Pay the costs of this game, if you cannot afford it, then too bad.. If you don't like the payment plans, then go away.. What I'm trying to say is: "Pay or go away".

Considering the social district is where customization is done plenty of people will be sitting in the social district all day. For instance take a look at any city in any MMO and you will find it flooded with player checking AH/Crafting and chatting. A massive chunk of played time is spent doing those things and in APB that area is free I don't have to pay for that(aside from the initial box purchase). This will be great for those players who hit level cap and can just purchase a handful of hours for cheaper than a months played time. Because at level cap most players spend the majority of their time doing the things you do in the social district.

I never thought of it like that very true point their. I myself will be in the social area quite a bit I want to try and get the custimization down well so i can make clothes, designs, I might even take a day to mess with the music feature.

    I agree 100%

And while it is true about the social district, its completly wrong that 50 hours will last you.

Its so incredibly addictive, in a week I racked up 150 hours game play... and I have VERY little customisation.

£5.50 for 20 hours more game play?

    £8.00 for unlimited?

    £2.50 difference.... no brainer!

I should also point out one other very import detail, which most here seem to be blind too.

You can sell items on the auction for RTW Points!  RTW Points are also game time!....   so if you spend a lot of time as a designer there is an argument to say that you could play for free.

  • yorkforceyorkforce Member UncommonPosts: 160

I think more people will spend more time in the social district than many realise, there isnt much point to spending huge amounts of time in there when characters get wiped anyways but when it goes live and designs will last forever, people will spend a great deal more time in there perfecting their designs. With the 50 hours to start this will encourage even more to relax in social.

Holy moly 150 hours a week is about 21.5 hours a day.  If your not exaggerating that is pretty unhealthy.

haha, yes your right actually,  it was more like two long weeks..... It just felt a lot less.

either way, 50 hours is nothing, 6 hours each evening and more on the weekend is only going to be a week for anyone who considers themselfs a serious gamer.

I play MMO's about 2-3 hours a day, a bit more on weekends and I consider myself a serious gamer.

I consider play times of 6-8 hours a day as obsessive (and excessive)

But back on topic, sounds like the price for unlimited play time is pretty cheap, better just step up and start paying the price if you wish to play that much, the basic sub deal sounds like its tailored more for the 'average' player.

I can understand the OPs point. But this is a very subjective view. You are at the upper end. The ones who play mist have the most disadvantages when it come hours against unlimited. But the casual gamers who rack up like 20hours district time a month could live with the hours 3 months. So in average both systems are equal good.

In your case: How about paying 8 pounds more and getting the unlimited play rigth off the start. So you can play as much as you want and save those 50 hours for later. Maybe a month where you play less. or another new game and just hop in from time to time.
