I am craving for some MMO games to play recently, almost went back to Aion (see how desperate I am =p)

Of course APB is coming out around the corner and exactly fits my needs now !!!!  But I wanna ask something first before I pre-order:

1.) Does this game works like in Global Agenda where everyone shares a lobby and then queue on games only ??  Or it will be much more open world ??  Or is there any more info that can share without breaking the NDA that you can let me know ?? Thank you

2.) How does the zones work ?? Something similar to Champions Online / City of Heroes?  Or like Guild Wars that you can advance to difference zone/city as you progress??

3.)  How do you do quests? or pvp ??  and Is it open world PvP ?? or just simply like Global Agenda which you queue for different 8v8 matches something like that (please no ... it will be superb boring).

4.) Any plans on open world pvp that makes people to mark on territories ?? or own a terriroties in a whole clan ??

Welll first, I treat this game a fast pace shooting MMO games, so I won't judge this game compare to other games like EQ and WoW that you need to do a lot of time to raid and such.  I'm cool with that since I'm busy compare to few years ago and I only play games that face pace hop in real fast and have a few fun games real quick.  I do not like 3-6 hours raiding anymore !

Anyway ... please share your opinions with me please :)  thx !

Cant say too much due to the NDA however, I would highly recommend watching the podcasts on the official site here: http://www.apb.com/en/media/

I will say however that this is not your run of the mill MMO, its a third person shooter (pure PvP) with other game elements, think GTA online + extensive customisation.

There is also an event coming up called Key to the City which is open to all pre orders, so if you pre order it, play the event you can decide if you want to keep your pre order or cancel it with no risk involved.

It has only 3 instanced zones, with multiple copies of eachother...a social, financial and action zone/district, its 10x less content and less zones lezz everything than global agenda, only thing better is costumization..

IMO apb has no content to be a paied game...and gets old really fast..unless you are looking for a shooter...im looking for an mmo to play for months without getting bored, and see my char progression in every aspect in a huge world no instancing or copies zones.

  • yorkforceyorkforce Member UncommonPosts: 160

I disagree with the above poster, if your after the repetative kill 10 sheep, collect 20 furs crap you get from mmo's then this isnt your game, but if your after fast paced action with PvP then go for it.

As people have said, you got three zones, two of them is action based, and that's where your hours are counting. Open zones, like a part of a GTA city, where you run around and catch criminals(or be a criminal). The last zone is free to play(your hours won't deplete while you're there), the AH and music making, dancing and socialize bit of the game.

2.) How does the zones work ?? Something similar to Champions Online / City of Heroes?  Or like Guild Wars that you can advance to difference zone/city as you progress??

Well, I guess those three zones are their own instances, but more like CO, where there are channels, because in each zone there can be 100 players, and there's capable of 100,000(?) players on each server, so that makes up alot of instances.

3.)  How do you do quests? or pvp ??  and Is it open world PvP ?? or just simply like Global Agenda which you queue for different 8v8 matches something like that (please no ... it will be superb boring).

As far as I know, you can just patrol around if you're an enforcer, and as soon as the APB comes up, you're in a mission to catch a criminal, all arrows and stuff comes up. And I guess you can call backup already there.

4.) Any plans on open world pvp that makes people to mark on territories ?? or own a terriroties in a whole clan ??

I don't understand what you mean here, but they've had the question on a padcast about clan housing, if that's what you mean. And they don't have that for release, but it absolutely something they are gonna look into.

Well in my area STEAM doesn't have APB up yet to pre-order

does D2D has refund policy on pre-purchase?

  • yorkforceyorkforce Member UncommonPosts: 160

They shouldnt even charge you until the game has been released and is being sent to your house, i ordered from play.com months ago and they havent charged me yet, i actually phoned them and they said they would not charge until they have physically sent the game out for delivery.

After testing the EU beta i can say it is a good game but will also say that unless your gonna put in a lot of time you will get frustrated at the match inbalance that you get at higher lvl's, ping is a big pain in the ring too (Aussie ping to EU servers = not so good )

I had so much fun in this game till i got the point where i was being matched up against ppl double my Rank with Weapons i could only dream of and it made for very slow progression as i got owned alot.

But besides that it is a damn good game, if you like GTA you will love this.

A.)2 of the free Zones are open city's like GTA

2.) How does the zones work ?? Something similar to Champions Online / City of Heroes?  Or like Guild Wars that you can advance to difference zone/city as you progress??

A.) Basically you log in and pick where ya wanna go, when ya bored of that Zone, open the game menu and change Zones, each Zone has respective ppl to pledge to for missions and you get rewards based on how well you are pledge with said person.

3.)  How do you do quests? or pvp ??  and Is it open world PvP ?? or just simply like Global Agenda which you queue for different 8v8 matches something like that (please no ... it will be superb boring).

A.) basically once your pledged to some one in a certain District you then proceed to just wonder about by foot or hijack/borrow some ones car and drive around till a mission pops up, it comes up like you got a phone call you can either accept or reject, once accepted you get the mission objectives and head on your way.

4.) Any plans on open world pvp that makes people to mark on territories ?? or own a terriroties in a whole clan ??

A.) not sure if that would really work with what they already have in place but i honestly do not know sorry..

Basically it is just GTA online your either to Enforcer or the Criminal, i played the Enforcer in the EU beta and probably did more crimes as a cop than what most of the crims did lol, (blowing up cars and pedestrians, running ppl down for hell of it e.t.c e.t.c)

It is a good game but like some 1 said earlier and gets old quick, is alot of fun especially if you have ppl to play with like friends on vent e.t.c cause ou will get some real retarded ppl joining in on missions e.t.c

I played this in beta for a long time, nearly every beta session, And all though its fun somtimes. It gets really boring, and i personnaly got bored past the 2 week stage. If your looking for an envolved story with dynamic players then this game isnt for you. It's basically , LOG on, go to soical district buy some clothes, pimp your ride. Go to waterfront do some missions kill some people. Rinse and repeat/ over and over again. Personally i hate the game, and have met many other people who got bored aswell. I mean jesus there were people in my clan who were playing a different game, While it was open beta! thats how boring it is.

My negatives are pretty well the same as everyone else, only thing I will say if you insist on buying it, do yourself a favour and wait till its cheaper, this game is not worth the full price tag.

History reveals that pvp.. even monotonous is far from boring.

Ask any Counter Strike player!   In fact, check out the stats on Counter Strike..  still the most popular FPS game ever made... how can that be?.. a game so old and yet still so popular?  ... no missions, no character advancment, no customisation...  Go figure.

Either you were crap at the game and didnt have patience to practice or online shooters are just not your type of game, in which case your not really qualified to comment.

The missions are merly a container for the pvp, they arnt meant for you to "OMG we pwned that raid boss" -.-

Ok since I don't really care for the game anymore, I'll give you the lowdown on the game.  (answers to your questions).

1.) Does this game works like in Global Agenda where everyone shares a lobby and then queue on games only ??  Or it will be much more open world ??  Or is there any more info that can share without breaking the NDA that you can let me know ?? Thank you

Answer:  The game isn't like Global Agenda, but it's not exactly an Open World either.  You'll have 3 districts, Social, Financial District (Action District), and Waterfront District (Action District).  Each distract can house 100 players, but was capped to 80 during the entire beta.   So, it's not exactly open world, but once you load into the instance (district) with the other 100 players you won't see another loading screen unless you crash or decide to switch districts.

2.) How does the zones work ?? Something similar to Champions Online / City of Heroes?  Or like Guild Wars that you can advance to difference zone/city as you progress??

Answer:  While in your zone (1 of the 2 action districts) you'll be introduced to a slew of different contacts.  Each one you gain faction reputation and contact standing for doing missions for that contact.  Once you max out all the contacts in the action district you go to the 2nd action district and max out contacts there.  I'll warn you ahead of time that the missions DO NOT change even after the first contact.  You'll still be doing the same kinds of missions, and it does get boring/repetative quite fast.

3.)  How do you do quests? or pvp ??  and Is it open world PvP ?? or just simply like Global Agenda which you queue for different 8v8 matches something like that (please no ... it will be superb boring).

Answer:  As I explained in number 2 you do contact missions for standing and reputation.  At certain intervals you'll gain 2 rewards from a contact usually in the form of a new (enhanced) gun.  Since there is no variation to missions though, it still gets super boring after time.  You'll have fun from the time you try it but eventually realize it's not really a shooter at all.  There is only 1 hitbox in the entire game, even if you have a magnum and pop someone in the face at 1 foot away, it'll do as much damage as shooting someone in the toe (giving no use for being tactical imo, had many situations where an SMG user would just turn around and throw an entire clip into me before I could get in another shot).  Which is a bad thing as for me that takes away the skill from the game and further makes it boring.  Hence why I think the advertising is a lie that you can be a lone assassin.  Don't get me wrong the game still has potential, it's just a niche game in my opinion.

4.) Any plans on open world pvp that makes people to mark on territories ?? or own a terriroties in a whole clan ??

Answer:  Yes, they have said in multiple videos they plan to add clan territorial wars.  It won't be until after launch, and hopefully they have all of their server crashes, bugs, and unbalances fixed to make it fun/fair.  Again though it won't be open world, it'll be with limited people and you'll have to load into the zone before you start getting prepared to battle.

Anyway, hope this helps.  I am going to PM this to you, just to make sure it doesn't get moved/deleted.  Hopefully it will help some people with their decisions on buying/pre-ordering the game.

It's NOTHING like Counter-Strike, in fact no Counter-Strike player would claim this game.  Counter-Strike serves it's purpose and gives a way for players to be skillful/tactful and generally always get a new play experience.  Even on a competitive level this game doesn't compare.  It started out to go in that direction (look at the starting ambitions of the game) and completely went off track.  After spending more than 200 hours in game and maxing out every contact I can honestly give my opinion.  I didn't suck and in fact in the games leagues I had been in the top 1 - 2 players.  The game to me required NO skill at all, what mattered is how much time you spent in game trying to be on top.  You have to spend around 10+ hours in order to stand a chance at keeping up with people competing for leagues.  With no hitboxes all you do is spray and hope that your bullets hit more often than theirs or that the person is a complete noob and can't aim (meaning he's spraying the NPC's/Cars next to you).  Forget what you know about modern FPS shooters as they don't apply here.  If you wield a shotgun you'll rule the CBQ field, if you wield an Assault Rifle you'll rule the mid - long range field, and if you wield a sniper rifle I hope that you can aim and keep the enemy away from you (no 1 shot sniper rifle kills even if you have the weapons power maxed out).  Also in comparison to Counter-Strike this is a TPS not FPS ;P.  So there isn't anything like sniper mode etc.  Just keep in mind that the game doesn't require any skill, and is really meant to be for casuals.

WoW.... this is rather be a little bit disappointing. No Hitboxes for Shooting games ??

I am reconsider it now, and also Mortal Online sounds having a great launch and itching me to buy that instead.

The reason why I cancel my preorder for Global Agenda is that I felt boring and repetitive.  APB sound like almost the same except the customization.  That really turned me off.  =(

They really need to fix this, or else just will be another crimecraft with better graphics.  No hitboxes and no headshots are unacceptable in Shooting games =(

  • DolmongDolmong Member Posts: 515

    Anyway... Preordered !! =)

Waiting for Key to the city hehe !! =)

Haha I thought you wouldn't be pre-ordering I actually had a huge rant built up eariler but i cooled down after writing it all out. Glad to see you'll be joining many in San Paro, now you just have to pick a side.

    I preordered in D2D

When will you get the key ??

  • AnzieAnzie Member Posts: 468

Poeple already said what I was going to say. Only good thing is the cutomization.

The gameplay is repetitive and that is why this game shouldn't have a monthly feed. This is a game where you probably wanna play like 2-4hours a weeks or you gonna burn yourself out pretty fast. You better off buying GTA: IV and play that online instead.

This is what so many people bashing this game dont seem to get. I've been in beta for a while now and I still can't get enough of this game. People talk about it being repetitive but I think fighting actual people who come up with new and sometimes very funny ways to kill you a hell of a lot less repetitive then running the same instances over and over again for fat lewt or killing rat/orc/troll #3080.

It's a fun game if you like PVP action. It's not a fun game if you want a themepark MMORPG.

The majority of people compaining are those that thought they would get a MMORPG experience.

Listen up: It is not a MMORPG game. Think of it more like a large, open world shooter.

The best part of gameplay is when you team up with a couple of people, ride around hanging out the windows chasing others and generally having a laugh.

It's fun, and no more repetitive than any other shooter on the market, but with the added bonus of character development, driving, customising your clothing and vehicles with paintjobs, decals, sirens, writing, etc

So if you like shooters and 100% PVP action you won't get bored.
