Very nice, although I am seeing more and more of a certain dirty word peppered throughout these class overviews...AoE. <---this word KILLED Warhammer, please, be ever soo careful in how it is used.

I wasn't planning to go back to my warrior roots but I might have to looking at this.

Cannon fodder, I mean warriors, are always welcome for a dungeon bash.

Looking pretty sweet! I never was a big warrior fan but I just might have to play more warrior this time around.

I don't know about this. Not really sure if this is gonna be just a single player online game. I mean, i don't see any group play in any of the video's, this one included. It also looks like the mobs go down pretty easy as well, so you probably will be able to solo level and never need to group up. The graphics as well, kinda looks like the run of the mill, nothing spectacular. I also read that there is a personal story system in place and it will be instanced. So that tends to make me believe that the world will be very small and linear.

Well, just maaayybee - a wild guess really - they didn't include more people to keep the vids clean and make the skills used all the more evident for the viewers?

Secondly, if you have been following all the blogs, you would have stumbled upon the fact that its an open world mmo game just like many traditional mmo games out there and in terms of size, it will be roughly 4-5 times greater than the entire guild wars world + its expansions (thats understandable seeing how restricted the world gw was). The instancing will only be in your personal story and raids.

Hope that's more clear for ya :).

Looking forward to EQL and EQN.

     A couple things:

    1) This is an introduction of 1 particular class to show off the Warrior, not a general gameplay/combat  video, and its only the 2nd class they have released info on, so of course theyre not going to show grouping with other people.

    2) You should really read up on all the other info theyve release dove rthe past month or so, Particularly the Dynamic Event System interviews. The game overall will be far from linear, the Personal Story lines as well as some dungeons will be instanced but that is all. will be an open world game, constantly changing, events happening in different places at different times and outcomes based on player reactions to the events which can cause ripple like effects branching out to nearby areas causing/impacting events going on there.

Also even the Personal Story Lines, though instanced, are not exactly linear either. Your story will change based on decisions you make starting from character to creation to choices you make as you progress through the game. Each individual instance may be somewhat linear, but the overall progression of the game & story will not be.

Anyway back to the OP... so awesome. Arenanet just keeps making the game look better and better every couple of weeks. Warrior looks fun as hell. I rarely ever play warrior classes, but i might give this one a shot.

Well, they do say "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing". I think that if you spent maybe 30 minutes actually reading some of the information regarding this game it would put every single one of your concerns to rest. This is assuming you are not a troll (because I distinctly get that impression from your post).

After playing a warrior in every MMO (well even right back to Diablo days really) I was determined to go down a different route on my next MMO. But now I don't think I can.

That video was pretty darn amazing! It looks like I'm going to have to start paying more attention to this game.

    1. They only use one character in the vids in order to show the skills they wish to show, otherwise 99% of people who watch would not be able to focus.

    2. This will be a fully open world with the only instances coming in certain dungeons, housing, and a few personal story quests (exactly how it should be done.)

    3. The graphics are pretty damned good, and the art of it all make it excellent. (That I will admit might be the fanboy in me, but no one right in the head will say that the graphics flat out suck.)

For any of you who doubt that the game will be mostly linear and be largely single player, here is a screenshot of an event. Three easily discernable classes (likely to be warrior, elementalist, and maybe ranger) all fighting one giant ass monster.

Yes it was a troll post. Just wanted to show how dumb it is that on a daily basis have to defend a game against people that throw a personal opinion around as a fact. Yes, i'm talking about TOR.

Even though i'm a SW geek at heart and am truly waiting for TOR to be released, i think AN is doing a bang up job with this game. Looks like they have a winner for sure.

This was my whole point to my post. I can't see why alot of people on this site think they have to like one game over another. everyone has differant tastes, like and dislikes. We should all hope for both games, hell all up and coming games, to be monumental success's and push the genre into a more balanced and healthier state it's in right now.

  • ZorlacZorlac Member Posts: 101

PLEASE let those be real in-game sound effects!!! I hope ANET focuses big time on sound this time!  :)

As troll posts go it was pretty good, had a good amount of blind ignorance with that touch of idiocy that is so common. But with the level of general ignorance around these days it becomes almost impossible to differentiate troll posts from those made by truly stupid people.

Though why you felt the need to disrupt a Guild Wars 2 thread because someone over on the SW:TOR threads kicked sand in your giny is beyond me.

Dude what are you even talking about?  Sorry, I gotta call BS on this guy.  I don't buy the social expirement or whatever he is trying to say.  I think he made the post in all sincerity, then watched a train of people point out his idiocy, read up on GW2 and then realized he was completely talking out of his ass.  I call them like I see them folks.

And yeah, Warrior looks CrAzY AHHHHWWWWSSSUUUMMMM.  I am dying to know what the other armored class or classes will be like - they gotta be doing a hybrid caster/armor (read: PALADIN) class, or maybe geared towards damage.  On the faded class line up on the site I think I see an armored dude on the far right, yes?  Regardless, I only play tanks and if I gotta roll WAR in GW2 to tank then so be it., no complaints here.

I'm impressed by sheer internal variety in this class mechanics-wise, just like with Elementalist. It's gonna be awesome.
