Questions from a returning player

Hi guys,

I was thinking of starting a new Eve Online character from scratch and had a few questions.

I played the game for 2 or 3 months like 2 years ago so I know the basics.

The thing is that I really don't have lots of time to invest in the game (maybe one or two hours a day) so I was wondering if it's worth it. I like doing stuff solo but I know that being in a corp is pretty much required in Eve. So what exactly can I do in the new expansion with little game time except doing random missions and levelling random skills ?

And BTW: except planet colonization, what are the new important features of the new expansion ?

Creating a new character is now much easier then it once was, the revamped tutorial mission line is great and will grant you plenty of ISK new ships and gear, as well as give you a quick tour of the core systems and factions etc.

Also the first 1.6 million skill points have a bonus to them which allows you to learn skills in half the normal time. Making it much quicker to catch up to a level where you can participate in a corp. Although it is still advisable to use as much of this time improving learning skills so that the next 10+msp take you less time :-)

it depends on the corp, but eve is one of the few games that doesn penilse you for not being able to play, obviously most corps participate in mass pvp at the peak times, but nearly all corps will be running level 4 missions and mining ops at varying times during the day.

Good luck and if i pod you its nothing personal :-P

First of all, being in a corp is not required at all...not a least bit.

Normally, I would link you to features page but that got overhauled to uselessness in a name of shiny marketing god of new subscribers.

So here are the patch notes:

Ok, thanks for the quick replies.

So what exactly should I do ? I know that it's a sandbox game and I should do what I want to do. But what would the different career choices be ? Last time I went the mission route with levelling weapon and ship skills but I found the game boring after a while of doing only PvE missions.

I like the PvP part of Eve but it seems really time-consuming and it requires to be in a corp or have good skills (if I want to go solo).

So let's say I have like maybe 6 or 7 hours of gameplay time a week. What would the best career choice be ? And please consider the fun factor. I like interactive stuff. Staying in a station all day long is pretty boring...

Going the mission route for PVE to make ISK would still be a good choice for you, especially with your casual play schedule.

But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so I recommend you join in the Faction Wars or 'Red vs Blue' when the mood to kill stuff hits you and I think your game experience will be enhanced.

There's actually corps that specialize in Faction Wars and you can jump in and out of Red vs Blue as the mood suits you.

While you don't need to be in a corp, they increase your playing experience and knowledge quite a bit (the right one of course) and not every corp requires you to play 24/7, look around and you'll find one that suits your play schedule.
