Obviously it would be targetting young kids, but they really think they'll be able to compete with the lego MMO in that market? Plus there's already that wizard 101 or whatever it is called for kids, and I'm not sure how young you can be and enjoy free realms but that always struck me as one kids could play. Also that club penguin one.

I don't see any real market for this game at all. Should do as well as The Mummy MMO.

It is interesting to see things like this come to fruition. About three years ago I was at E-3  checking out the latest MMO’s and FPS games and I overheard one developer  make this comment to another developer.

You know I want to make games for kids, Housewives, people with a few hours a week to spend…anyone except for asshats like that.

He was referring to a group of really overweight hardcore MMO players (honestly they all looked like clones of the Simpsons comic shop guy)  that had apparently been less than kind about the game they were showing.  It really does seem that the most hardcore gamers have pretty much bitched themselves right out of a hobby. If anyone doubts this cruise by what will probably be the last hardcore MMO’s official forums…Mortal Online.

So is this part of some western conspiracy to completely destroy Asian culture? Or some kind of revenge for them giving us grind fest games and violent porn cartoons?

Ohh Who lives in a pineapple under the sea "Spongebob squarepants"

Who'll brainwash our children and steal their productivity "Spongebob squarepants"

How appalling. They aren't even going to release this horror in the West-only in Asia? No wonder America has a bad name in the World. I can see the Al-Qaydah review already!

Guessing that Blizzard finally found somebody to license the engine from WoW...

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

    Explorer: 87%, Killer: 67%, Achiever: 27%, Socializer: 20%

is that time (1 april) again?!

Spongebob squarepants is cool but seriously a MMO? Whats the goal there? Annoying Thaddäus and working like a slave for Mr. Krabs?

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play."
"Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."

  • Finally, what we have been all waiting for, a game for the HARDCORE only.

No more whiners or carebears, this will be the ultimate full loot pvp game.

This must fall under the "News so terrible, off-base, and ridiculous that we have to put it on the front page regardless of whether or not it really applies to our demographic or readership".

Maybe it's just me, but I really only check the site for the major MMO news. WoW, EVE, LotRO, WAR, AoC, CO, COH/V. Seeing Spongebob there... well... I had to punch a baby. Now I'm going to jail.

  • ComanComan Member UncommonPosts: 2,178

    Spongebob MMO?

    LOTRO FTP?

    Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures?

I am starting to think someone is just trying to pull off a big hoax on the world of MMO :P

You'd be surprised what my 5-year-old can do with a computer, and she sometimes plays a console game or two. But I don't get any of these kid-oriented games. Who lets their elementary-aged kid sit around playing video games when it isn't raining or snowing or  their rooms aren't clean?

I imagine the ones that don't live in safe neighborhoods or single parents that can't watch their child all of the time and don't trust the sitter to keep 100% watch.
