Holy crap, those action sequences are awesome. Loved the shield one, reminded me of Dragonslayer.

Awesome video, i bet now everyone wants to be a warrior....
And again the hype takes another step....
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Hm... this "Stance" skills will be part of the 10 (3) skill options or be a separate mechanic like Elementalist Attunment, thats what i would like to know.
Its a SHIELD (off-hand) skill.
Oh sorry nvm, thought you meant the stance in the videos when she blocked the fire with her shield.
This is torture!

I'm curious about the Charr using the bow, seemingly taking out baddies from a distance with ease... I wonder if they are planning on making some drastic changes from the warrior in the original. Maybe they'll be characters that are proficient with all physical damage weapons? Maybe they're even considering mixing in the ranger class and getting rid of it entirely.
Can't really confirm anything from the video, just assumptions. Certainly raises interesting assumptions, though...
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
the warrior has access to most weapons except staff, scepter & focus, daggers, pistol and shortbows
there will be a Ranger class as shown in the art below and also in some screenshots showing a ranger/beastmaster class
Have fun storming the castle! - Miracle Max
You must all remember that these mobs they are fighting in the example videos are more then likely low-level/practice mobs being taken out by high level characters showing off armor, weapons, and skills. The skills shown will in no way be that power against foes within proximity to the characters level.
Looks good, however what is the betting they are leaving the cremé de la cremé till last ?
Six more to come
Ranger (no brainer really)
Monk?
Mesmer?
Necromancer?
Assassin?
Paragon?
What do you all reckon?
Monk was confirmed as non returning class. So no monks this time.
And spears aren't a useable weapon..so that's a strike against Paragon. (but doesn't rule them out completely as the class can obviously evolve to use other weapons.)
If I remember correctly, Slash Beast, then it was a dedicated healing class that was confirmed non-existant. The monk could exist, albeit radically changed to the point where it's old playstyle is gone.

They all won't be in, ANet said there will be two brand new professions introduced, the rest will be familiar from the first game. My theory is that Monk will be cut but a lot of the skills from the monk class (ie protection skills) will be merged with a Paragon type class, like a Cleric.
Yeah its pretty much a given they will have a Ranger, or some form of a Ranger. I just hope its an actual archer focused class, rather than the usual pet reliant rangers we see in most games, or hybrid range/melee classes. Or at least their trait system allows you to become useful as a pure archer class without the other crap. Considering that the Warrior seems to be a bit of a mix of melee and range, rather than a pure melee class i think there may be a good chance that theyll actually focus on making the ranger an actual ranger.
As for the other classes we will see. I think its pretty much granted that we will see some form of rogue/assassin class (though i hope they actually do it right instead of, again, what every other game truies to turn rogue/assassin classes into).
I think we will see something close to (maybe not in looks but in roles) a true paladin class which acts as a tank/defensive/protective class to support allies since they are placing emphasis on protection rather than healing.
If they dont make Rangers an actual ranged class, i hope that they add some other ranged dps class besides the elementalist. It looks like a fun class, but i tend to stay away from mage/wizard type classes for ranegd dps when possible.
I think people are tending to read a little more into the warriors use of bows/rifles than is necessary. I still don't see them as some hybrid range/melee class. I see them kind of the same as warriors have usually been - melee focused with the ability to do a little damage at range to pull mobs (specfically for the rifle as was stated) or to ensure people can't just constantly stay at range from a warrior and feel totally immune.
I honestly don't envision warriors sitting at the back of a fight and firing their bows.
I am just glad that using maces/hammers is going to be not only viable but sounds really cool too, and should provide some great looking items. Maces and hammers have been done so abysmally in almost every fantasy MMO I have ever played.
You are more than likely exactly right on the ranged part. It does look like they are getting some extra skills for the ranged weapons, but nothing like what the rangers had from the first game. It's looking to be that Warriors will have ranged weapons for pulling (just like the first game) with the ability to assist attacks w/ some select skills as well (lighting an area on fire w/ the flame arrow).
As for the maces / hammers, they sound very much like the hammers from the first game. Lots of knockdowns, area attacks, and stuns. In the first game these weapons were the slowest to use, but also very deadly when used intelligently. They were particularly good for disrupting casters / healers.
Im not saying i expect warriors to be just as capable at range as melee or anyuthing like that, but they do look like they will be at least slightly more along the lines of what so many games have turned "rangers" into... a class that can get off a couple decent ranged shots and then needs to switch to melee to be effective, rather than relying on speed, tactics, and kiting. Very few games anymore actually use rangers as rangers, theyre more like a warrior with a bow which is what i was getting at with the GW2 Warrior, and the hope that they dont make rangers the same.
I know GW1 rangers were effective, all im saying is that i hope they dont do what so many others do and turn the ranger into a barely useful at long range class.
Hehe, looks awesome, and I love the comments "now I wanna play a warrior!"
When they reveal the next class, people are like "now I wanna play this class!".
But hey, its cool. What would an mmo be without the typical massive armor wearing gangster.
E: After watching the vids, I fell in love with the warrior to be able to wield a Longbow with such power, seems awesome. The dual wielding axemaster was also quite funky. Cant wait to see rest of the classes, aye!
Looks AWSOME!
Yeah, I agree with lazerou. Besides, I'm pretty sure that was a high lvl warrior taking out low lvl mobs.

I'm probably one of those people who just get wet.
Never seen that concept art before illyana
Looks amazing, and if it's canon, that must be confirmation of assassin / ranger / mesmer / paragon?
Either way, amazing.. the hype continues :P I'm trying to keep it in check, no game could live up to this right??
<Welcome to my world>
I know what you are saying about the ranger/warrior hybrid - WARs shadow warrior for example. I think we can safely assume that this won't be the case here. Every single impression I got was that warriors are heavily melee focused with the addition of the ability to use some ranged weapons for pulling mobs and for kiting - standard things that warriors have always done (and kiting doesn't mean until death, just to a location that you are happy fighting in.
I think the warrior will be the standard warrior, but still it looks a lot cooler than most other warriors.
I never played GW1 so I am glad to hear that maces/hammers were treated quite well in that game. I have always been a fan of the look and feel of the weapon and usually the games have made the items look phenomenally ugly (even warhammer where you had classes that only used hammers they still looked generally crappy).
I am really hoping to see some nice item skins and hopefully the usual route of the more powerful the weapon the more outlandish its appearance is not taken. Hate finding a cool weapon that I use at low levels only to find the high level version looks like an alien puked it out.
Well, looking at the picture that has all the classes (or at least a portion of them), you can sorta make out some possible classes. The far right appears to be an amored class possibly with a shield - that will likely be our resident tanking class, my guess is it will be a caster/tank hybrid not unlike a Paladin. I think the far left is your ranger/rifleman class (looks to be holding a gun), and on either side of the warrior you got two caster classes, the right side is really obvious (healer, traditional mage/dps, necro/warlock), and on either side of the elementalist will be your asassin/ninja.scout classes. This is all speculation of course, but I think most of the classes will be pretty standard, but the execution and customization of each class is what is going to make things interesting. Like they were saying about the Warrior, you could go a lot of different directions and specializations, so that is likely what will create the real diversity and the players will create the classes themselves in a way, starting with mostly meat and potatoes type classes that you spice up yourself. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't introduce at least one very unique, previously unseen class, got a very creative and explorative team behind this game! Can't wait until it comes out, good lord let me in the beta!
Concept art is concept art. Nothing more, nothing less. It could be included in its entireity, not at all, and every shade imbetween. We all ready have a few things from concepts that are not going to make it, like spears/lances. A concept is not a gaurantee.
On that note, the art has been used so far for the elementalist and warrior, its not a big stretch to assume the green one is a ranger, the black is a rouge type (sin seems more of a canthan thing, imo) and the proverbial 'claric' that many people have thought on.
And if anybody can live up to the hype, its ArenaNet, I'm sure their classes will work out fine, the only thing I'm even slightly worried about would be the Dynamic Events, it seems like they would be hard to impliment properly. I guess I will see at PAX

Why do people expect Fations and Nifghtfall professions in what is essentially a contninuation of Prophecies? I don't expect to see assasins, ritualists, paragons and dervish.
Daggers have been given to elementalists. What's assassin going to do against the elder dragons?
No spears.
No scythes.
Player character paragons and dervish were members of the no longer existing Sunspears.
