I won't buy this game blind, here is why.

This game looks great but I can't risk $49.95 on it. I can't risk fifty bucks on mmos anymore because a majority turn out to be utter crap.
Anyone have any ideas how I can try this game before I buy it?

Good choice, thats why they put up those impulse pre-orders.
Must be reasons why no Open Beta.
Customers are starting to learn, the marketing departments are past borderline legal in this industry.. cry wolf too much they destroy themslves, not that I am saying APB is doing anything illegal, but after 4 years of buying junk based off false promises never delivered, its time to stop being idiots, and buy only what we like, when its proven we like it.. If they can't deliver that, well then too bad.
One beef i do have, is that noone listens anymore, APB didnt give a crap what anyone said, nor made any tweeks.. they just rolled out what they could and left it at that.. and you are wise to save your fiddy
i found it very easy to find a beta key, there were more than enough chances if you tried, played for a few days and i enjoyed it,
if you're not too sure you'll like the game just play another til they release a free trial, if that is even an option

Smart Move. got any friends who are going to buy it? Play what you can.. but don't leave with a vague idea of what the game is. Google specific questions you have on the game. Watch assload of videos (gameplay). Not the videos that has Evanessence in the background. Wait a month after release maybe? see both sides of the stories being told. Which ones add up.
Odd Opinion you have. There Aren´t open Betas in most non MMO Games. You have to buy your standart game just because of magazine previews and reviews or playertalk. Even Demos either do not get releases or much after the Release of the game. So why have MMO games to differ?
And a Beta is not free testing/playstange for the Crowd. Its to test the Servers and get Information about how their game is running. But mist players see Betas as a Free trail.
least wait for reviews to roll in after they lift the nda before even thinking about preordering.
