I have recently played Age Of Conan and World Of Warcraft, and with a break of 6 months from mmo's, i decided to give a new one a spin.

I have been aware of darkfall since well before launch, but decided to give it a miss due to some bad reviews and a shoddy launch. However i recently signed up for the 14 day free trial and can say i am pleasantly suprised just how enjoyable this game is.

The inventory system is second to none, and the combat system far more diverse and skillfull than aoc. As there are plenty of reviews out there, i will not go through a step by step analysis of the game, but what i will do is tell you that it is a massively underated game.

Perhaps previous versions were poor and buggy but as of 10 June 2010, the game is good, and definitley suited to those who couldn't care less about stupid lore or and want to have fun. The game is brutal from the start, and can teach you some harsh lessons right away. Don't let this put you off.

The game needs a boost in numbers, if it had that right now, it would be absolutely awesome. If your sitting on the fence i would suggest to you to at least try the free trial. You won't regret it.

The game is a lot of fun, esp when you are fighting people in and around your lvl of skills. The most griped about issue is not that the game lacks fun, but rather that it has a huge stat / skill grind to be up to par with the more senior player base. It's not that big a factor for me, but I've been playing for about 6 months. So in some arenas, I can compete.

The game is a lot of fun. . a lot of players are on trials.  so there is a boost in population that might decrease later.

I just stopped playing for some reason last month and didn't bother to log in ag ain. . still subbed until end of june. . I will likely check it out a gain.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

    I agree.

This game is fun and with out a doubt the best pvp mmo out there. Fighting players at your own level is intense and nothing like the normal PVE mmos. The freedom of pvp you have in this game is great, and the full-loot provides a nerve no other game can match. It doesn`t matter if you attack or gets attacked, you never know how good your opponent is.

Again, this only apply if you got the same level as your opponent. We like this game and play it for hours every day. This is why we fight against the level gap between new and old players. AV are listening to their playerbase and are taking steps to lower that gap.

-We`ll soon get more HP for new and casual players

-New and casual players will get rare ore from normal mines. They can use these to get better weapons and armor so the gap in damage will be less.

-Magic got a nerf. Melee and archery are the easiest thing to level, so this change lower the gap between new and old players.

This is just the next patch. Who know what AV have up their sleeves in the coming patches of DF2010. If you like pvp and are bored of your resent mmo, you should give DF a try. If you like killing NPCs and hate getting killed by other players, you should move on. This is a pvp mmo.

look whenever zou see a bad review on darkfall someone trolling or whatever just post this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkkycp_7kaw

fyi I was waiting for APB 3 years, been wanting to play mortal for months, still waiting on swtor since swg got killed

I played darkfall for 6 hours now and this game owns whatever else is on the market. compared to this wow and all it's copies are a cheap ripoff of diablo in the 3rd person view.

Yes I've played them enjoyed them w.e. DF is the future, and I'm a lot quicker to dissmiss a game then like... Shoot APB is terrible(from a GTA Sandbox MMO expentancy pov), I can say this after 3 years of senseless following and  fanboiing it,.  SWTOR will be as different from wow as aion is, you click buttons to fight+companions that become like you..hurray...lost all the depth swg had to it

also when anybody complains bout the asswhole community, I was fully equiped in bone armor and all the low class weapons in exchange for the terrible drops from the first goblin kill mission. Then multiple people stopped and explained stuff to me. which brings me to next complaint people have: you get in the game and you don't know what to do...this is NOT Mortal its fucking simple you quest get your skills up join a clan of people of your abilities and fight people of the same abilities till your big enough to take on the vets. at least thats how I understood it I could be completly wrong but this reality works for me.

people have no clue what they're talking about, they see videos which are over a year old and talk about the graphics like it's the first elder scrolls game and we're all just fanbois who can't accept that wow is the best...I think we should push more videos like this into the community this is one of the most epic battles I've ever seen in an MMO(flametornadoes I tell you what MMORPG can beat that, this is more epic than oblivion ). Sure AOC battles may look nice but if you've been in a siege you know how terribly annoying this can quickly become simply due to the fact that you have to kill the same player 60 times to get anywhere, he'll keep respawning and it doesn 't matter

More people would get into the genre= more players=more money for devs= more content for us,

and lets not kill ourselves we allways wanted to see those kiddies from our wow days in this game and make them pay  for getting their parents to buy them an MMO :P*

*full sarcasm on that last part

MMORPGs I've Played maniacly: the matrix online, wow, war, aoc, swg, Biosfear
MMORPGs I've tried: 2029, RF online, Eve Online, pretty much everything that's available, I tried the disney MMORPGs, go figure

Yes, compared to the short range auto-targuetting games, the Darkfall long range fireballs and archery is from another world.

Thats some serious pvp right there image

The only problem is that other than this, Agon is an empty lifeless world with no sounds. The cities are dead and apart from the player/mob actions sounds nothing in this world is making any sound. It may be raining or you might be standing next to a waterfall it will always be dead silent.

Today I was running for 20 minutes and it was very lonely. I left a dead city, travelled through the country without seeing even 1 mob and finally arrived at another city where I saw 1 guy farming herbs.

Ok, there aren't many players, but where are the NPCs inhabiting this world? There are a couple mobs here and there, but why are the cities dead empty? There are no sounds of city activity, no npcs living there, nothing.

Darkfall is a game that should be played with a web browser open with an online map pointing to mob locations, otherwise you could be running for hours without seeing anyone. Seriously, I don't have time for this shit.

imho: sadly they built this game on the premise that so many people would play that they don't need npcs.. the soundsystem can only be excused by the game being in beta, when they actually release it they better fix that, also I would like waterfalls to actually hit my char at least a little bit... atm it's like apart from the picture of a waterfall it's noneexistent: no sound or physics to go with. It took them six years to make this game... I wonder if they're just lazy and it's going to take another 6 years to fix those things..personally I'm going to look over these things because at least I have control, auto- targetting is just depressing for me at this point... o.O window mode or print it you need the map if you don't want to rely on RA chat to be lost in the empty void (kinda reminds me of eve but thats outer space it should be empty lolz). Truly though I don't mind that there arn't mobs everywhere. In a lot of ways npcs everywhere are pretty damn annoying. it should have a more oblivion feeling to it though, as in npcs randomly being on paths waiting for you. No clue how they could implement that in an MMORPG however

I'm also playing MO right next to DF, Idt you can play DF by itself if you're not a veteran allready

    Exactly.

But in this video from Aventurine, we can hear the waterfalls as well as the crickets, birds, etc... There's so much more athmosphere:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQHik5M8Ol0

Why doesn't the game world have these sounds in the live version? When the video starts they say this is 100% ingame footage.... they have the sounds, so why don't we have them?

My brain lost half of its mass trying to understand it. GTA Sandbox MMO expentancy pov - priceless.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

I wish I would have started in EU but I didn't want to take the risk after not likeing WAR or AoC.  That combined with not wanting to go through the pain in the ass DL that was originally offered, not liking the fact the website wasn't updated, and fear for how long it would last.  So, I said to myself it it lasts a year and the bugs get out I will give it a try.

But I am glad I finally did.

I agree with the OP. It borders on bizzare how underrated this game is.

I have been playing Fallen Earth lately only becuase I have been wanting to be left alone and I found the crafting system intresting. During this break I can tell you I am still more impressed with Darkfall than I am Fallen Earth or any other MMO I have played. In fact, I am canceling fallen earth this weekend and coming back part time to Darkfall.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
