Ok I have been looking into this game looks pretty cool. My Questions are do alot of people still play this game not where you see like 4 or 5 people a zone but if I decide to buy this game next week will I be the only level 1 to be seen? Is grouping easy? I played EQ and love to group soloing gets boring. What is a good class that is kind of hybrid like has powers and fights? Will this game run on a AMD 64 2800+ @ 1.8 512 ram 80 gb hard drive geforce FX5200 cable internet? Is it easy to make friends and play with them alot or do people just do there own thing? This information would help alot im still debating whether to get WoW but alot turns me away never played a super hero game really but looks cool As long as I can group at any level and not be the only lvl1 and there is some end game content ill be happy. If I get this and anyone wants to show me the ropes just tell me a good server to join and your name and id appreciate help Im looking to get this game monday or tuesday If my windows install goes well and my new budget gaming rig doesnt screw up while starting thanks.

To be 100% honest, this game is great, but still far from perfect...My opinion is that you should wait until sometime close to when they release city of villains, that's when they'll add in tons of fun contents...

As for right now... There are alot of people playing this game (about 1000 players on at a time per server, since after WOW launched)...Basically you'll see quite alot of new players, but alot of low level players are also alternate characters that people make...Grouping is really easy with the game's interface, you just click looking for team or send team invites from a list...But, the best time to for groups and friends is when you're around levels 7-13 where you're able to go to perez park, that place at those levels are so fun and has lots of groupings...levels 1-6, they join u for a bit, but they usually leave you, and hard to group because you don't get fast travel powers til level 14 ( get super speed or super jump)... As far as rpg goes, there's not much to entice you here...However there's some hidden missions that are pretty cool, but you would need some more experienced players to let you know about them( they're more at the end contents though)...Your system should be able to handle it...The leveling rate doesn't deviate too much from 1 level to the next unlike in other games...leveling when you're around 1-10 takes about 30 mins to an hour per level...when you get to like 49 it only takes about 2 hours and 30 mins to level to 50, if you play a AR/Device blaster and is smart enough to know what to do...Scrappers are the most balanced class though, and easiest to handle if you dont know what to do...As of right now, basically this game will last you only 1-2 months, maybe 3 at most before you're bored, so you might want to wait for city of villainsimage

Can't tell you anything about the server population since i stoped playing coh but if you think it is the game for you, it is worth trying. As far as i know, leveling never was that fast. It may take you a day to reach level 10, probably more and from 49-50 it will take much much longer. No way in hell would it take you 2 hrs.

Actually, it depends what you play...The truth is it was actually 1 hour and 30 mins from 49-50 with my AR/DEV Blaster...(I drop down mine, use Full Auto...and run), this process takes 10 sec. to kill about 10 guys minions and lieutenants...On minions alone all you need is mine...There's my super smart trick for yaimage

EDIT: But to an extent zeus is quite right...Average scrappers takes about 4hours and 30 mins to 5 hours to level from 49-50 solo(This is what I remembered atleast)...However there are farming missions/groups that people form groups at the high levels to level fast which would take about 2 hours to 3 hours to level up thereimage

its fun but not very deep good for first timers to mmorpg.  If you want the best mmorpg try World of Worcraft

Hello, I'm going to add my 2 cents. I was an EQ player for about 3 years. I can go on and on about what I didn't like in EQ, that is why I quit. Since then I tried beta in Guild Wars and Matrix. Let me tell you what I like about CoH.

I like the economy. Since you can buy everything from a merchant, you don't usually buy anything from a player. People are also more likely to give away enhancements and Influence (the currency) via games and contests and sometimes just being nice.

I like the Exempt/Sidekick rule. If your lvl 20 and you have a lvl 12 friend you can sidekick them and therefore bump them to just under your lvl as long as they are with you. That way it is not a rule of I'm sorry you can't group with us your too low. Exempt is when a high lvl bumps down to just below someone else. This way if you have friends in game (or make friends in game) you don't get left behind and neither to they.

I like the character veriety.  It is very rare for 2 people to have the same character. It can happen but it is unlikely. Except really sleezy women toons. There really isn't much variation in them. (And they are comming out with MORE variety!)

I like the way the powers work. You pick. You pick your starter power types and then there are power pools. You do not have to have all the powers of anything. This too makes for a strong variety.

I like that the enhancements (they pump up your powers) are somewhat limited and you can chose a vareity of what you want (these are bought or gotten when kiling). This keeps players super Not 'uber'.

I like that unlike EQ the "loot" is distributed. You do not have to worry about a ninja or greed factor.

You can kill, you can do missions, you can search for badges, you can kill for badges, heck you can be killed for badges.

Expansions are free. CoV is not an expansion but a parallell game. The word is you can buy it or not. You can own that w/ out owning CoH. This to me is much better then the endless 3 month expansions that EQ uses to tap your wallet.

The mobs do vary some. At begining lvls it's mostly the same ones. But as you get higher they throw new ones into the same old and introduce you to new sets.

This game is a more moving game. Unlike EQ you do not pull back to one spot, you move to theirs. The NPCs only follow for about a block if you run fast and so training is minimal. The downside to the not pull is it is harder to be social. As far as grouping goes people feel both ways about that. Some say it's hard some say it's easy. I say if you are sitting in a group of people looking for group, invite them.

Everyone has powers in this game. There is no powerless toon. What powers depends on you. Yes some are designated more caster and others more melee, but even tanks can be engulfed in a ball of fire at will.

Keep in mind you do get 1 free month's play with CoH. Therefore if the original purchase price is worth it to you, then you can try it for a month free.

Frankly with such adversity I do not see how people get bored. I like to travel and learn and create new super heroes!

There is a little hero in all of us.

Ok well when I get my new computer running im gonna go out and buy this game. Ill probaly level pretty fast considering when I played EQ I didnt care to spend 9 hours for a level lol. And free trial is good I think its funny when people complain and say bohoo a free trial for one month wow thats not worth it. But really most games you buy only hold you for about 2 weeks or so a month is good for $30 instead of $50 for like a week. Ok can anyone tell me a good class I want something with superpowers and some fighting. And anyone wanna help me out when I start on a server no money or anything just show me around?

(dang, I replied with a post, but it didn't get posted, so I lost it)

Long story short...I think you're looking for a scrapper... Primary power Spines if You're looking for FAST LEVELING AND BIG AOEs... Secondary power would be REGENRATION (Note: regneration is strong because of Instant Healing which you can get around the level 20's, otherwise before that you may feel pretty weak)...In the end, for fun, pick which power you think is coolest...Main recommendation, have atleast a use if not both aggression and defense...Otherwise people won't like youimage
