People just like to complain I think. It sounds pretty cool imo, I like how the explain how much it hurts but it heals them. I hope characters being healed by these guys in game scream  a little.

If that's true, I'm in love with this game starting right now.

When WoW did a healer in cloth that was an exception, not the norm.  MMO healers traditionally wear plate armor as per D&D.  EQ, EQ2, DAOC for example all had heavy armor healers.  When I first played WoW I remember thinking how strange it was to have a healer in cloth.

All this "fire is healing in some faiths" is a bit misleading. Fire is most often a purifier, as in purify by destruction, not healing. Not that I care one white about the topic or this game, but lets not mislead people.

It's a logical stretch, but MMOs need not be bound by logic at all.

Fire is used as a form of punishment. You don't go to hell to be purified or healed but to suffer. Still doesn't convince me this fire healing thing.

as other people already said there are other philosophies on this earth originatiung from other religions than christianity that do value fire as a divine power or the power of healing.... this whole castigation, judgement by fire and purification of the heretics, that is a VERY christian idea....

anyway - what's all this bollocks about logic?? It's a fantasy game.... seriously... the article says something about "The purifiers conjure flames to heal allies" and you are worried about the fire=healing part???? sheesh ^^

btw - awesome class... wannaplayit! finally found that class that made me go "oh frack yeah! bring it ooooon!" ^^

I would be more interested in seeing the fire healer have only certain options.  Different healers for different jobs.  Guess I miss my old days in CoH with many different ways to heal.

Fire could stop bleeding effects by cauterizing wounds.  It could purge impurities (poisins/dease.)  It could also give you a boost to energy/mana (think warmth on a cold day, or Warmth in Diablo increased mana regen.)  Even revive you from the dead.

However,  fire would not restore health, but it would have plenty of options to help others.  Cauterizing a wound doesn't bring health back.  It just stops the negative effects of losing health.

A giant ball of fire in our sky keeps everything on this planet alive, how about that?

fire as a purification can date back to the dark ages, when witches or condemned people accused of satanic, this or that, souls would be saved only if purified in a bath of fire, hence burning them alive, so i can kinda see where they are going with this i guess????? sorry but if i cut myself i would rather have a bandaid applied then have a torch thrown my way...
