As they said "Your base of operations to explore the galaxy" so I guess it will be some kind of housing attached to it, don't know about space combat.
It'll probably be just like KOTOR. You get a ship traveling from planet to planet and little else.
Yeah, at the very least it's what we should be expecting, realistically speaking. If they want to impress us later on, then they'll surely show what else we can do with our ships.
Kinda let down how they wanted to talk "PvP" and just show a very nice but still just CG trailer. Hopefully the hands-on demos on the show floor will live up to the premise, which unfortunately I won't be able to experience directly :P
Even if all we're offered here is a customizeable "mobile home" it leaves the door open for space. Either way I'm excited for having a customizable ship.
It says clearly about the Smuggler:" While the E3 demo didn't let us go off-world, obviously a smuggler will have some advantages aboard a ship that a Sith Inquisitor will not."
Having looked at it more, it looks very unlikely it will be much more than your house instance where your companions hang out and you get a cut scene landing much like Kotor 1 and 2.
They all looked like multiperson ships and if everyone gets one it seems less and less likely they can be used in space combat. Which is a real shame when i first saw this I was really hopeful.
I’m not a hater and i love Star Wars. I’m hoping that SWTOR became good game. I’m not even posting things around forums, as you can see, but this is outrageous….Developers of most expensive MMO game in MMO history had very poor game presentation…Well...OK... I should wait a little bit more for additional info…
Very awesome info. Customization on my ship. Freaking awesome. And this very well could lead into a space reveal at the TOR panel tommorrow, or a lead into the xpac having space.
Can't wait to hear more after the hands on tommorrow.
After 5 years of development they have nothing to show on E3, but 2 trailers for 2 years???
Not even 5 min of gameplay???
I know that I can have ship. So what??? We all had those things 7 years ago in SWG....what's new?
Umm SGW really? JTL was a joke. While I have several fond memories of SWG I have many more less than good ones. I think most poeple would rather see a more polished and complete game than rushing in and forcing space combat in like SOE did with JTL.
That being said I was definitely hoping for more than what we saw in this latest reveal. Guess we'll just have to be patient a little longer.
I had my own customizable ship in Star Trek Online. Look how unimpressed the majority were with that; big woop. How does it factor into massively multiplayer game-play and accompanying content?
Yup, really looking forward to this one except the thing mentioned in the IGN article about the PvP gear, if there are that many PvPers out there then why are there not more pure PvP games. One thing I hated about WoW was some of the regular achievements for world events had PvP requirements not everyone gets there kicks out of beating up the other faction and can't see why we can't get along, lol. Oh well still really looking forward to this game.

Does this mean any space combat or is it a form of play housing like the Ebon Hawk?
They haven't been seen in action yet, so it's not really clear yet just what they are going to be.

As long as it's not a heavily instanced, glitchy, and broken gimick like ship interiors in STO than I'll like it..
It leaves more then a "open door"
Look at this article taking on E3: http://pc.ign.com/articles/109/1096845p1.html

One day it will be available for sale. Only then do you need the information on the game.
