Copyright characters in APB

Ive played Champions online when it was released and cryptic opened up pandora's box with its character creation. They were constantly banning accounts due to copyright infringement. I myself was one of the culprits and quickly learned the hard way cryptic wasnt allowing copyrighted characters. Obviouslly theres gonna be and i wonder how the APB gm's will handle this? Hell, they made Obama in there PR video last year showing off the game. MMORPG's latest article displayed Joker inspired characters. Say what u want or complain but i enjoy making WELL created copyright characters. I hope they dont crack down on it considering i dont see who would sue such as those big Comic companies that scared Cryptic.

im so making a character named after that dude on msnbc and driving around in a pedo-van with "Have candy and puppies, GET IN THE VAN" written on the side.

How about Tom Brokaw from NBC news driving around in a news van and not shooting anybody but actually asking people or clans about why are they shooting each other. That would annoy alot of people
Imagine future flak over copyrights broken with the music editor that's in the game.
As for character rights infringements, I personally have never seen the big deal. I'm sure most of it is preemptive measures taken on the game's side without even getting threatened by lawyers yet. In all honesty, I think there is no better form of viral marketing than to have a hit movie come out and then have millions of people customize their avatars for in-game advertising of it. People would have to be foolish to actually try and stop it, but I guess that some do, and my money is on Lucas.

And I wouldn't imagine that APB would have such a hard time as Cryptic did with their Superhero MMO. I can't imagine many people having a problem with someone creating Mel Gibson or Jackie Chan in this game.
