Best Soloing Class?

ZmanxZmanx Member Posts: 7

I was thinking about buying EQ2 or trying the 10 Day Trial.

I love to Solo and World of Warcraft is VERY Solo Friendly.  So i was wondering if EQ2 has a good Class that is Great for Soloing a whole lot with a bit of Grouping on the Side?

Having played only a scout and warrior, I can thoroughly recommend them both to soloing. However, grouping is quick and easy, so give it a try whenver possible!

As far as buying it, its only $30 now...I did the Trial of the Isle and was addicted REALLY fast. So much so that I bought the game within 2 days. I'm on Lucan D'Lere and Blackburrow servers!

Well, yesterday I saw a level 44 shadowknight soloing the shift boss groups in Runnyeye. Since you have never played the game and have no clue what those are I will go into detail for you.

Shiftbosses are in groups down in Runnyeye that have about 5 or 6 other mobs attached to them, and the average level of these groups is 40. I have also seen tons of good loot drop from these shift boss groups (including a level 50 robe that I failed to win...and still I cry about). Soo...this SK only being 4 levels higher than this very tough group and sololing it (took about 10 mins) was pretty impressive. She was basically just sitting behind some super good armor and using lifetap over and over again.

Basically though, if you are smart and know where your class excels you can solo if you want to. Not as easily as in WoW, but they have made many changes lately to help improve the solo side of this game, including more mobs (too many in my opinion since now the landscape is covered with them) better exp and better rewards for loot.

I used to solo the Giants in nektulos forest with my necro when I was level 27 or so. It was pretty funny to do it next to a full group of the same level people killing the same thing.

You can solo, just gotta be smart if you want it to be rewarding. From what I have seen personally though is that the heavy armor melee classes seem to be better at it than others. Nothing can substitute some heavy armor taking the blows for you.

I played a Scout class and did alot of soloing. As long as you keep your skills up to date, and equipment repaired, you should be fine soloing the v, vv, and ^ guys--the "^^" guys are kinda hard. I actually haven't played since they boosted solo XP, but it's probably better, been meaning to get back into this game but, meh.

So far i have soloed my Zerker up to lvl 27.

There will always be times when you need to group though.

I can solo all day long with my monk, just don't expect instant levels because you chose to play a group game solo.

They're adding solo-specific quests in all of the main zones soon, too. That should sate whatever anti-social appetite you might have.

I don't know if there's any one "best" soloing class.  I have one character in each major class and none of them have a problem soloing.  They can't all kill the same things equally; for instance, my crusader and priest can kill groups of mobs while my predator and sorcerer do better with single mobs.  Play a class that you feel you will like playing and you will enjoy yourself more than if you play a class you hate just because it levels quickly.
