Square Enix has made available a new benchmark tool for Final Fantasy XIV, the successor to Square Enix's venerable Final Fantasy XI.
The new tool should be useful in helping eager fans gauge how well their computers will be able to handle the MMO so they can make any necessary upgrades in anticipation of the game's launch this Fall.
The tool allows for fans to select from an assortment of characters that represent the five races available in the game, supports both 720p and 1080p resolutions, features 5.1 support with fully voiced dialogue, and comes in a number of languages including Japanese, English, German and French.
The tool clocks in at 336MB and you can download it here.
How'd you score? Let us know in the comments below!

If my computer can't run it, I'm buying it on the PS3 and enjoying it on my large ass LCD HDTV.
==NOTICE==
Be sure to UPDATE your GPU DRIVERS, DIRECT X and CATALYST if you use an ATI GPU.
I am getting a error message when I try to run this thing, and yes I DID follow the intructions..
Hope I just didn't download anything nasty......geez...

I'll have to do the Update suggestion, I was sitting at 1900 on both low and high which was a diappointing performance for me. There is nothing I can't run max settings right now.

It crashes no matter what setting I pick in the launcher.
"Yea, I've been drinking again.."
2256 final score in High Rez playback
Got 2865 in low still need to up grade some.
4700 high res
5700 low res
Im happy
Haha, same thing here. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, since my computer was built in the Victorian era.
I got 3026 or something like that in high def, is that good or bad? Just curious because I plan on upgrading in the next year or 2, just wondering if I need to push up the date or not for ffxiv.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
God Help me but that made me want to play the game. Might have to get it on a PS3 if the high rez reading is anything to go by lol. Though I suspect you would need a NASA super computer to get 8000 on high rez.
you can always hook your pc up to your LCD tv lol
The benchmark is having issues with Windows 7 and certain Nvidia drivers <_<
I got 2955 in low res
load time 13019ms
Mine just didn't show anything. It was just black. I heard sounds but just black screen. Updated drivers as well.
It gave me my scores which were pathetic.
I always thought I had a mid range machine!
In any case, upgrades are probably in order.

I just got 2338 High Res
Load time 12827
Hi-res score: 4023
Load-time: 21326
Didn't bother running low-res as I would only run @ 1920x1080 anyway.
So...what does this mean exactly? What is the score range they are saying your rig should be in to handle the game?
Score: 2524
High res 1920x1080
www.rocklynn.se
High Res: 1656
Load Time: 11645ms
I'm interested in the High res scores that smoke mine, but have twice the load time. What would cause this?
For those of you considering upgrading becuase of this benchmark... remember the game is far from release. I'm sure there will be tons of tweaks done on the engine by then. You should also pay attention to how smooth the benchmark runs. Just because you get a low score does not mean you'll have issues running this game. Also, if I recall there was a statement claiming they were designing the graphics for longevity, much like EQ2 did. It would be foolish to spend money on hardware upgrades now.
Well, I have a pretty nice HDD in my rig, but for whatever reason Win7 doesn't seem to play very nicely w/ it. I'll paste my components below, but basically my HDD should be putting out much better scores/times then it does, I have to work out the kinks I guess and figure out what the log-jam is. My "Windows Experience" score is 7.7 across the board, except for my HDD load time which is 5.9, go figure....
Anywho, here's my rig, I just built it about a month ago on a budget of $1200 and have to say that I am MORE then satisfied.
