Of course, you'd think they could make a decent single player game out of it, but they haven't even managed to do that yet.
I remember a lot of people liking the robotech games on SNES.
My vote goes for Smurfs as a survival sim much like Wurm Online. You would build a lilliput homestead, or village with your friends, and everyone gets to fight over the only girl. Occasionally, a cat the size of a dragon will raid you.
There were SNES games? They're not showing up on Mobygames, hmm. I'll have to look into that.
And actually, I need to amend myself. There was a somewhat decent single player game called Robotech: Battlecry for the Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube. The cel shaded graphics were awesome, they looked almost exactly like the cartoon which was great for immersion. The gameplay though was just... meh. Can't believe I forgot about it regardless.

I think he may be thinking of Robotrek, which was a pretty fun RPG for SNES
A lot of good suggestions here,I'd love to see a Smufs,GI joe,or Tansor Z MMO.But I think the one with the most interesting dialogue that could work for a single player RPG or a MMORPG provided you had a talented dev team is hands down Cowboy bebop.

Ah yeah, Cowboy Bebop would be a great MMO in the right hands. Wish they'd do an MMO in the Vampire Hunter D setting too, hell of a lot better idea than Twilight as a vampire MMO.

The man has a point. There could only be one female character in a Smurfs game at any time. If anyone else wanted to make a Smurfette, the current one and the challenger should face the quickening, and have to duke it out like the goddamn Highlander.
What about He-Man? A lot of potential there, many different characters and customization possibilities (there are lots of characters appearing), 2 well defined factions, a steampunk-ish world with some interesting locations... and so on... :P
Gundam is nice as well and has a huge amount of lore and mech models ready for use (there is some asian MMO in development but not many news about it, and it is still asian, so grind & terribad cash shops will certainly prevail)
Mmmm... there are probably others i can't recall ATM... :P
Well, there are FOUR ninja turtles... you can't make a MMO filled with ninja turtles, it wouldn't make sense :P
Turtle is the alpha class?
Check out Palladiums Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness. That had rules for turning litterally any animal into a kick ass mutant crime fighter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_&_Other_Strangeness I'm sure a game could use the same kind of system. I would make "Middle Aged Mutant Boxing Badger"

Sorry youtube didn't have the music enabled.
If they ever find a way to make this (and make it good) then it seems like I will die in a computer chair.
And really... How did we go this far without TMNT? I mentioned Jem (jokingly) before this for chissake!?!?!?! I need to go re-evaluate my life...
I can't believe no one said... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JLDytgnIQo
