It's just something I recently noticed, that people claim a fact and fail to bring the proof or source. It is something you should think before posting.
Like someone said, Bioware is overhyping TOR. Where? What interview or posting from Bioware did overhyping? Links, sources, anything to proof that argument?
Or someone says the usual, Game X will be a WOW clone. But the author does not define the term "WOW clone". How much similarity is a clone? What sources (links!) show that it is like WOW. List exact things in Game X and WOW which are the same.
Or: "MMO Z is all instanced.". Link to proof?
Guys, it is really fruitless to make a point and fail to proof it. Otherwise it is just how you feel it will be, and while I respect your feelings, it does not create any result when you just SAY something without any source, link or explanation. So it's what you will get from me in the future, every time someone claims to know, I will ask: link pls - where did you get that information from. What exactly does the term "X" you use mean?
Otherwise it is just pointless make believe and hearsay. Check what you say before you post it and at least TRY to show proof.

So this is something you 'recently' noticed. - Well done!
People don't care. Only 60% of people here [no source] actually want discussion and of those only 25% [no source] have any interest in the other person's argument.
All forums broke down in 2007 [no source]. Now, most sensible discussions get derailed for no reason by trolls. Surveys say that 95% of decent threads die this way [just made that statistic up - sorry]. Then there are also some posts that are so pointless they are just flame bait or cries for attention - have you seen any lately ??
Sorry if my reply is unhelpful [I think]. In actual fact you're right, completely right, but the age of reason is long dead in this medium. Your target audience was never listening.
I'm surprised this is something youre only noticing after 4 years of being here.
Slamming games without any experience of how they play and little knowledge of their workings is a norm here.
FYI... Statistics show that 34% of all statistics are made up on-the-spot...
To the OP... the anonymity of the Internet precludes any necessity of "proof." The Internet has birthed a culture of "you don't know who I am so I'll say whatever I want and if you don't like it too bad." It's unfortunate but it's here to stay so we either hafta get used to it or leave.
I prefer to just get used to it... in fact a lot of these people you describe are so inane it can be pretty funny to read their ranting and raving.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
Well, I'm a slow learner.
There is a very easy way out. A poster can say "I feel this game is XYZ", then another can answer "I don't have this impression." The debate is over, both don't lose their face, and no one has claimed something that isn't true, because everyone has just said his own personal opinion and impression.
Like saying: "Look at video X (link), I feel the graphics are too cartoonish." Simple personal statement, referring to a source everyone can check. Then you can reply: "Ok, I looked at it, I dont feel that way." Case solved. You still can say your thing, but you don't cause pointless drama. I don't understand why that is so difficult.

+1
People love to argue, people love to be right and people love to convince others that their point of view is the only conceivable point of view.
Objectivity is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream.
Link? Proof?
yup
The only thing I know for certain is that everyone who challenges my orthodoxy is a stupid poopypants
Link, proof, bah, I call shenanigans.
These are forums, not science class, I'll spew whatever nonsense that I feel like.

Yes this forum and others like it are full of baseless assumptions. You just have to learn how to tune out all of the noise.
I have to go to the bathroom, and I'M NOT GOING TO PROVE IT MUAHAHAHAHAHA!
Women take time and money.
Time is money
Money is the root of all evil.
women = money squared and money is the square root of evil
Therefore women are evil.
There I proved something.
