While i like the sets of armor they show in the movie for bounty hunter progression, i can't help but feel a little apprehensive. They talk about having thousands of sets of armor so that no two players look alike (similar to every other game out there braggin of large item cominations). The problem is that 90% or so of these sets/items is for non level cap gear. While players are leveling, looking the same isn't usually the problem, everyone is scambling for whatever upgrades the can get and sometimes that level 18 cloth shoulder is just way better then your level 6 plate. The players all looking the same becomes a problem when they make end gear the best possible stuff to have....is that wrong? No. it's just everyone then targets that 1 item to have. If the "Red striped Comm helm" is the best trooper head piece there is, i guarantee there will be no limit to the number of people trying to get it, as well as the when they all have it, they will all be wearing it and look the same.
Something that i thing was a great feature was in EQ2, the appearence tab. Here you could put gear that would overwrite anything you were wearing to change the look to what you want. You could be a level 80 shadow knight and run around in Twill, it changed nothing in your stats, only how you looked. If you wanted to have a farmers hat but still show off your full Tier X gear, all you had to do was get teh hat and throw it in the head slot of the appearance tab.
I'm not talking up or down or fanbio-ing or hating on the game, there is still a year to go and a lot of stuff to look forward to. I'm just getting a little tired of everyone boasting X thouns millions number of custom gear but missing the fact that everyone wants the same 1 or 2 pieces when they hit end game.

Meh.
I dont like the character models and animations in the first place, no badass looking armor can fix that I'm afraid.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
I disagree with Benjola for this reason....
Yep, just add a lightsaber there and voila, SWTOR.
Awesome.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
Ya if I were proved wrong that badly too I'd ignore the point at hand and fire back with a non-sequitor.
Proved wrong about what exactly?
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
Armor can hide ugly character models.
What do you like about the game, is there anything you do like about it. If you don't like it so much why are you so active on these boards?
Oh lol.
Ok I agree that armor can hide char models I guess.
What about animations though.
As for what I like about SWTOR... lightsabers.
I like lightsabers, I grew up on Star Wars movies.
I wont play WoW with lightsabers though, that not gonna happen.
Why I been so active?
Well, I have been very active for the last 2 days yes but let me ask you a question.. why does it bother you?
Why do you care?
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
I have to agree with the people noticing the shoddy graphics quality and design. The toons seriously remind me of Mr. Potato-Head with the overexaggerated dimensions, etc.
Everybody (who had one = 99% of you) knows that you can dress Mr. Potato-Head up, you can put glasses on him, hats, etc. and it still won't remove the fact that he is just a potato from your mind.
lol
This on the other hand I agree with.
The lightsabers obviously need to be tweaked in size but they are saying they will allow for lightsaber customization so I am interested in that aspect if that might be a reason why they are a little... "Puffy"
Chests seem a little wide and faces a little too generic but I'm interested in seeing if they improve on this and since this wont affect overall game play I'm willing to overlook it but I definitly want it to be improved upon.
Lynx Ive been stating only facts for 2 days now.
It´s the fanatic fanbois that cant face the facts.
I called SWTOR WoW with lightsabers and kiddies got all upset for whatever reason.
I´m having a blast on the forums tbh.
But lets keep it in the other thread, back on topic.
Yes, I agree, char modles and animations , all together with the graphics look cartony and dated, not something i expect from the most expensive MMO to date.
Also, It´s 2010 hello!!!
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
They did say you can customize the Hilt , so they are prolly bigger so one can actualy see the differences.
Whoa, man. Why does this have to be WoW with lightsabers. Why is it not AC with lightsabers? Or EQ with lightsabers?
World of Warcraft is the original creation of God. Real Life is in fact a WoW clone.
The overall graphics of the game look good. The style is something more of opinionated, which I like and am ok with.
Character models and animations do need work though for sure.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4OT2GgrtqA
This video is an example of both, the world graphics really are pretty good and the character model needs work, but the fact that the NPC's don't react to being hit by bolts of plasma/laser is inexcusable. BUT the reason I feel why this isn't TOO big of a problem is because of the amount of focus Bioware has put on "Choreographed Combat". I feel like there is no way they are so adament about "Choreographed Combat" and they completely miss on something like this, but overall Character Models and Animations require work.
BTW how do you feel about the BH gear in terms of looks?
i agree the animations aren't any good, but the armour looks cool and i do like the style - long time wow player here so im used to it lol XD
but i agree with OP in his concerns. in other gear-based games everyone would often end op looking the same at high levels because there's usually a few things everyone goes for, and then they look the same.
Lynx wins with his WoW picture.

PEPSI!!!!!
Get out of your box already...
You are talking rubbish , your opinion that you do not like the graphics is just that. That in no way makes the graphics bad and in comparrison to most MMOs out today they are excelent.
The most expensive MMO to date , please provide some evidence of this and please not teh 150 million USD quote it is fabricated.
So lets see no fact just a few falsehoods and your oopinion which is just that.
Until we see more evidence with respect to armor types/progression well noone know so you can speculate but again who are you a developer nah. A potential customer again nah you hate the graphics why would you play it as you have said yourself so in reality you have already placed yourself beyond the bound of anything Bioware would conside worthy of generating them any revenue.
But the haters will love you here you seem to have the right metal assumptions and falsehoods. Some of u will just wait and play and if it is no good it will cost no more than a wasted night out or a bad date.

Cartoony models and animations are horrible.
Light sabre hilts and blasters are too large, they look like hair dryers.
All those memories will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
To be honest, I quite like the games appearance. Smart business move too. Allowing more computers to meet the requirements to play.
Sure I'd prefer Mass Effect quality, but then again, I'm not stupid.
Longing for Skyrim, The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3
Games were capable of having realistic looking graphics and still be playable as far back as 2001. They're simply doing this to jump on the WoW band wagon.
Realism, to me, gets old quick. I prefer the stylized look. Not only is it my preference of art style but it seems that realistic stuff seems to age quicker.
Let's be honest, what we older Star Wars fans want is a new and updated game with the look and feel of the original trilogy. Anything short of that will be a disappointment.
To me the cities and ships look too clean. I prefer the broken down and aging look that made the original's time frame resinate with so many people. I understand the timeframe and the reasoning for the new look though obviously.
Ah but star wars isn't real. I know what your trying to say, but what I've just said plays a big role in it. Do you really think Ewoks would look like they did in the film? They were clearly suits. My point being, nothing can really be realistic unless it's based on reality. Like say, Modern Warfare or something. Grand theft auto, that kind of line.
To be honest, if the graphics of this game puts 'anyone' off, then a gamer isn't really something you can call yourself, as well, gamer's do gameplay, not animation fans, or cgi lovers.
It's all about the game.
Longing for Skyrim, The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3
I don't like the cartoony graphics-style; that style was even the main reason that I tried and played GW more and not played WoW after beta for a while.
ANet showed to me that a 'stylized' look can still look great when you do it right and doesn't need to look cartoony; the character models of GW may have been lower in polygon count or level of pixel detail, they still looked far better than a more detailed, realistic look that EQ2 had back then.
So no, wouldn't have been my choice: but then again, I saw some pics lately that showed to me that what I had seen so far might not be the final looks, but that it would look better than I expected.
I liked what GW had, in there you could give every part of your gear the colors you liked, by mixing up paints and then put that on your gear.
The ACTUAL size of MMORPG worlds: a comparison list between MMO's
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums:
Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
This is true if you're talking about another genre and not MMO's.
I'm not an RP'er but i like to get into my character and play it like it's myself. Art style/graphics are an immersion breaker. A simple reason i myself could never get into WoW.
