Bioware announced player housing in the form of player starships at this year's E3. Take a tour of the the Republic's Corellian Vanguard-class Light Corvette and the Fury-class Imperial Transport in this latest trailer.
Not much is known about player starships at the moment other than the fact they will have full interiors with a number of customization options and will serve as players' home base in a similar fashion to the Ebon Hawk in the KOTOR games.

I'm not sure if I'm excited about this or not.
Player housing ... awesome.
Player ship ... awesome.
Both being the same ... awesome.
I'm hoping there will be more customization options than in ME/ME2 though. It would be nice to change lighting, interior colors, even NPC locations. I hated running all over the damn ship to go from bob to sue back to bob. And if we can "fly" it like ME2, then cool. Being forced to chose and not getting to do any kind of piloting would be disappointing cause I liked exploring space.
I did like the ME experience though so if it's close to that (even though it isn't free flight ala galaxies), I'm going to enjoy it.
I h ope the crafting stations are on the play ship like they were in the single player game, and i hope you can invite your friends to go into your player ships.

Looks good. I just hope there is a possibility to customise them like in SWGs.
But I do agree they look a little big so likely to be a lot of running around to find people. Though if you can fill them with paintings and your trophies then you will likely need the space.
I thought the ship pass throughs were nice, but I will hold my excitement until they can give me more information on the extent of ship involvement with the game itself.

Those ships are awesome, and I look forward to having one. Lords of the Dead (LotD) plans to play SWTOR as a Sith guild, so I am glad to see the Sith ships look great!

I mean it's cool and all to have a hub you can crash at, but it'll be disappointing if you can't actually fly around. I hope they surprise everyone, but it's not looking that way.
Aw man, the Sith ship looks awesome, I wanna be Sith even more now.
Both ships are looking pretty sweet. I hope you can at least invite others aboard when it's docked/stationary. But I can understand if you're not allow to invite other players to fly with you since everyone is getting a ship. At least they are showing the outside of the ships, that gives me hope that you may be able to fly around or at least be in orbit

While it looks very cool, I get the impression from this video its little more than player housing. I was hoping for a more interactive space environment...space combat for one. Unless I missed something, it looks like space combat isnt going to be something we can expect at this point.
Yes, it is little more then "player housing" as it is being shown at this tme. Not sure that it will ever be more then that but I certainly would hope so. It is a move in the right direction and I hope that Bioware realises that leaving this to only be "housing" and not actual flying ships will lead many to say "where is the 'star' in Star Wars?" Again, it IS moving in the right direction.
Let's party like it is 1863!
Eh. I miss old good days of kotor where me would stumble around the ship talking to characters :<
Too bad TOR won't have any characters...just "quest npcs" who will offer you an awesome task of killing stuff and collecting.....stuff....
I miss KOTOR, I miss the old good bioware that did not try to cash in on their best games by releasing a simplified wow-clone mmorpg versions of the aforementioned games :<

# ANY GOD, I MARK SACRED
# A MASKED CRY ADORING
# A DREAMY, SICK DRAGON
...These are not the ships you are looking for...
