Well, i guess we'll have to see what happens now, but like another post said, people that play MMORPGS are not all linked to this one site, as a matter of fact millions of folks dont even know this site exists, it wont be hard to correct your marketing scheme to leave this site out, i mean I heard of the game from the DarkFall forums which i heard of from a friend in Shadowbane. I heard of this site a few weeks ago and checked it out. I didnt think it was a biased source of information but after some searching i have found three times as many MMORPGs as are listed on this site on other sites, so that alone has removed any form of "trust" i had here, and furthmore this entire incident of them using their "personal" views to remove a game from the listing, which at least will make release is completely crazy. You have to admit a site marketing its self as a "MMORPG News site" shouldn't leavr out games because they dont like the publishers, if you are going to be that type of site then state it plainly so people dont get the misconception that this is a "MMORPG news" site, say it's a fanboy site and many of us would understand why the site acts the way it does.
Originally posted by Callicles God help me I read this entire thread. So I will make this brief. Regardless of the reason, removing any real MMORPG from MMORPG.com, lessens the value of the site. No, I wont leave the site forever because it doesnt include everything, but if I find another one that does, I will in a second. The entire reason I come here is because the list contains almost every single MMORPG out there. Why hurt yourself? Because it is too much trouble to remove the forums and leave the game up? Hardly. P.S. Is there another site out there that has a listing as extensive as MMORPG.com?
Well the site they are pimpin on their new story site has a listing twice as large, gamergod.com, or you could check mmorpgdot.com it has some interesting things
I strongly support MMORPG's decision. We gamers shouldn't put up with these kind of community reps, just like how we shouldn't support a game that's coming out 6+ months early. I understand how the chaos could get to these guys, but that being said there's still no way I could ever support them.
I formally announce that I will be suing the users of mouring board for saying that "MMORPG sleeps with IGN!".
I think you might be better off using cut-and-paste when you quote. Did you mean? "mmorpg.com is in bed with IGE." It would make a bit more sense, though I did get a chuckle from your version.
Last time I check censorship is the use of state or group power to control freedom of expression. In a modern sense censorship consists of any attempt to suppress information, points of view, or method of expression such as art, or profanity. Not what mmorpg.com is doing. The reason people are angered is that the mourning mods DEMANDED bugmans info without court order. They then prociding in threating users when they know damn well that Romanian laws dont hold in US court. For the last time, a case like this has been in court, and was thrown out. You cannot charage people on the net with "libel" because the whole internet would need to be sued for it- it is everywhere. One can post 2 posts of misinformation- its not a crime. And if your so content of making it a crime, I formally announce that I will be suing the users of mouring board for saying that "MMORPG sleeps with IGN!".
Well done.

I am now going to attempt to activley create a new mmo site for people who actually want access to the available mmo's. unbiased and unrestricted, all mmo's will be aloud. Non of this censored bs because somebody got bitten. You have effectivley proved yourselves "play ball with mmorpg and what we want, or we won't show your game here".
Mourning is a game trying to break the molds, they have expressed that they do not want the little kiddies who enjoy there dewd speak and gaining pleasure at putting others down. through some quick actions from mmorpg.com's and Mournings staff have hurt both companies. I personally will be trying to create or help other sites create a more reliable site that can bring mmorpg players together in a more unrestricted and unbiased form. MMORPG is obviousley not willing to allow us as players to have access to the games out there through their site, only the ones they feel is ok....
when a company does that you have to question who is signing the checks, and what the companies true motives are. If they keep information from this game from you, whats stopping them from keeping info from other games from you. This site is obviousley no longer a reliable source of information on mmorpg's.
to mmorpg, instead of jumping on the wagon with the bullies maybe trying to help the little guy out would be a more knoble thing to do.
also to a couple of posters who posted about my post... did you even read it? said a few times that mourning staff was at as much fault for this crap as the mmorpg staff.
Originally posted by Sorrow Sigh once again I've let myself get pissed off, guess I wasnt ready yet to be calm about this. Let's try this.. WHY DO YOU CARE? That is my whole postition in a nutshell. For the sake of argument let's say you guys are right. Mourning is a scam a ripoff created on photoshop. Mourning is vaporware that will never come to market. Mourning is run by game devs that are pricks, and have no idea how they should kiss ass properly. WHY DO YOU CARE? ...snipped for brevity... Unless you are a competitor trying to take down the competition, or part of an organized extortion ring, there just is not any reason WHY YOU WOULD CARE.
They might not care..or maybe they care because LHE demanded to have editorial rights over anything they posted about the game? Maybe they care because LHE demanded that they turn over personal information about their forum users? Maybe they care because LHE "threatened" them with a lawsuit?
You have no idea what transpired so like everyone else in this thread (including me), you are guessing.
The bottom line is that this is their site. They can do whatever they wish, for whatever reason. If what they say is true, then I support their dropping of support or promotion of the game. It in no way degrades their status as a MMOG news site. If the same thing would have happened to Gamespy, or Stratics..I would have supported them as well.
Please, MMORPG didn't lose face in your eyes because they are not "fair reporters..." they lost face because they no longer support your game. You're grasping at straws.

Good luck. Your last line in this paragraph just proves to me that you do not read anything that has been posted. So if posting in the boards has no bearing on what will happen based on misinformation, them threatening to sue was meaningless as they can't do so, also stating he will get his information was meaningless conjecture and just as offensive as many of the attacks based towards mourning. So by mmorpg.com attacking mourning instead of just shuting things down or even attempting to resolve the situation shows a lack of consideration fo the companies they claim to represent and support. So can we expect mmorpg.com to become one of those sites like somethingawefull.com? where people can come to bash mmorpg's spreading misinformation and claiming to be the developers of the game when they truly are not? where do you gusy draw the line? your taking something that could be a potential resource for gamers and developers and turning into a corrupted company seeking only to benefit themselves at the expense of others.
There is no precedent for this and these are special circumstances. Were Mourning's PR to actually conform with globally accepted business practices - like every other professional MMORPG this website's staff deals with - we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Thanks for your feedback. However I would like to add that we did a lot to promote Mourning at MMORPG.com. When they would post new screen shots we would make front page news out of it by adding it to the scrolling features on the home page. Mourning had the second largest count of screens for any gallery on our site (kudos to them for always notifying us about new screens) - so we always made an effort to inform you all about this game.
Our stats show that last "new Mourning screens" feature drew in over 8,000 clicks in the short time it ran (about 10 days) - if you were to purchase 8,000 clicks via Google.com or some other advertising venue it would run you about $1000 (based on average rates). We don't sell these spots to anyone - I am just using it as a means to point out that we do care about the little games and when they update us with news we inform our community.
We posted news items to almost every IGN "Peek of the Week" that was featured on the IGN Network (which was about 52 articles).
The truth is myself and many of the staff were looking forward to this game (and I imagine many still are) and many of the new features it was bringing to the table.
Again, or choice was largely based on things that we really can't share with you all - and despite many of the theories - it had absolutely nothing to do with activity in our Mourning boards. We agree that our Mourning boards were very negatively charged - however a large reason for this is that negative comments were censored a lot on the official boards and people came to our site as "refugees" to vent their feelings. Our rules are the same for all of our forums - yet for some reason only this one suffered this fate.

Ill be the first to say it, mmorpg.com may have damaged mourning, and the game may not turn out to be a success but mmorpg has completley discredited itself.
let me ask you this, if an mmorpg sucks and is really terrible, the developers are jerks, but they still have customers, and the game is released does that make it nonexistant? the biggest thing mmorpg.com has done here, and ive said it already, is discredit themsleves as a refrence for mmorpg's.
By not letting us know what happend you are just making things more frustrating for people who have used your site. As for myself, i was looking forward to mourning as you claim many of you were, but to have such a openly negative action against a company from a community leader with no clear justification is really upsetting and discouraging on your reliability as an information source. I again express my deep apprectiation that you take the time to converse with us. As for picking the little guy, my refrence is to the fact you do what you have done at a key point for mourning, they are having a lot of trouble getting this game up and running and a lot of tempers are high, you have just thrown a huge pot of oil needlessly on a fire.
Just i a little addition, im glad you have helped contribute to mourning and done what you claim to do for sites, and helped generate more traffic for yourselves... now how about leaving the game on your list and just shut down the boards for it. And these "refugees" came here because they were banned from mourning for damn good reason. The mods at mourning.com have stated over and over the rules, nobody was banned that followed those rules. Im of course not trying to say that the mods of mourning.com are perfect and havent been overly harsh or made statments they shouldnt have, or even invaded the sanctuary that ins mmorpg.com, but they are not a terible people or ruthless company as you have led people to beleive.
LOL - I read the original article that sparked the lawsuit threats but I didn't realize somethingawful posted that follow up. That's classic. And there's three pages of it, too, if you missed the others.

At this point and time I don't feel it is right to say all the details of why we did what we did. Doing so would involve showing you private communications - which at this time is not warranted (however, this may happen with part of our communications if the LHE team continues to make false claims - because our message history proves otherwise we have a right to show evidence to protect our reputation).
I can tell you that this has been something that has been building up for a long time. Some things that happened today were just the final straw and we felt it was no longer in our best interest to cover this title.
Based on all the great feedback we may add this game to our list again at a later time when we can present it in a "light" fashion with limited features - although this is still in the air and not favored by myself. Many people are asking for this but honestly I see this as something that would just harm the game more than help it - and my intentions are not to harm the game - just to distance MMORPG.com from it entirely.

It's great that you've done all this. However, why not just press the "ignore" button in regards to private messages from the Mourning Staff, and keep up the good stuff? With removing Mourning you're mainly hurting us MMORPG.com subscribers twice over. Both in that we cannot get coverage of this game from you anymore, and that we cannot trust you as we have.
It realy sad to read this Discussion. Every one shouts ther mouths at one and other taking it like ther own personal war Mourning vs MMORP.com . And the most funy thing is that ther is no facts just speculations from bouth sides. i cant truly understand what exactly the admin here whants out of all this? all i can get out of all this is how scary it is that people actuly take alot of this crap seriusly. sure i have my pre-order placed for mourning and that i have only bacuse i whant to belive that can brake the chaine of copycat mmo´s out ther. and if you truly call yourself a MMOer then why wod you support this cind of acts. I mean basing an argument on somthing you heard from a friend that heard if from a guy named Mr.X on the net does that seme wise. and the Mr.X part was conserning the rumors around Mourning but thats all any one besides the dev/publisher´s know and its that it is rumors and nothing more, and to take the rumors and argue them as if they where facts is just wrong in my opinion.
And now to the topic at hand no i dont think MMORPG.com did right in removing Mourning sens i think they realy shod cover all the MMO´s out ther and thats all I can think this Discussion was about from the begining a simpl yes or no if they did right not some silly war agenst them and the Mourning comunity. so i think we all shod drop all this silly speculations and get down to the topic do you think it was right or wrong simpel awnsers will do and leave your personal fealings towards mourning to your self.
How can so many people come to so many conclusions from reading the same Text?
But on another note, as a reporting source of mmorpg's could you put mourning back on the list as well put some information as why you feel the game is questionable? I mean as a community member and as a site that has in the best been a great asset to the mmorpg community would it not be helpfull for you to warn your subscribers at what you see as dangerous? or harmfull?
The bottom line is that this is their site. They can do whatever they wish, for whatever reason.
LOL was just waiting for someone to say this, and I wholeheartedly agree, just as Mourning's board belongs to mourning and they too can do whatever they wish with thier board.
BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, you two-faced hypocritical jerks think its fine for you to go over to the mourning forums and cuss, and post scat pictures, and flame the game, the devs, and anyone who tries to support the game. When they try and moderate THIER BOARDS you pricks pop over here and accuse them of being NAZI's, and pulling a SCAM, and MMORPG comes out in support of your lies, slander and disqusting behavior.
Then when the Devs over at Mourning get upset by MMORPG encouraging and defending these nasty hateful and slanderous posts, MMORPG turns around acting the the victim in all this putting on a big presentation to stir up this whole thread.

"I ran your complex and colorful letter by the Something Awful Legal Team (inc.), and he informed me that not only was your letter "totally completely idiotically something somethingly," but he additionally said it tasted like "really bad fish" when he attempted to eat it. Our legal team then scurried off and began crouching in a dark corner, perhaps to begin summoning up his legal might against the towering powerhouse that is the Limitless Horizons Entertainment LLC behemoth."
"Let's Take the Interests and Good Name of Limitless Horizons LLC Seriously."
"How rude! Come back to me, Edward T. Lynch, and sue my pants off, big boy!"
- MMORPG.COM Staff -
The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive.
I agree with drax on this for sure.
