Perfect World Entertainment debuted their new MMO Forsaken World at E3 this week. Forsaken World is a free-to-play MMO built from the ground up for Western audiences, featuring five races, eight classes, a laissez-faire economy, many guild features, and even allows players to control the fate of their particular server by advancing the game through the ages.

This looks pretty good. Lets just hope it doesn't end up like.....all of their other games (especially pwi).

The video is fairly useless, no story or even, with the obvious WotLK overtones, speaking over the video to give us some idea what this is all about. I'm kinda intrigued but I won't be looking into this game yet strictly because the video told us absolutely nothing. If they're gonna throw something like this at us it should have at least been actual gameplay footage. At least we'd have an idea what the game is looking like. Right now I have no clue what the devs are intending. Inform and entertain, it's like someone who has no idea what a Kindle is watching Amazon's commercial for it, it's pretty but what was that for again?

    Played in some form:
UO til tram, AC, EQ, AO, WW2O, PS, SB, CoH, AC2, Hor, LoTRO, DDO, AoC, Aion, CO, STO
    Playing: WoW (for gf), WAR
    Waiting For: SWTOR, FFXVI
Hoping For: DCUO, Secret World, Earthrise
    -S- (UO Sonoma)

I think Perfect World International is just trying to buy time. The closed beta in China revealed many more bugs and many aspects lacking in the game that will be needed to remain competitive in the stiff competition of 2011. I believe they were expecting closed beta to come in July and now that it won't be here till Winter, they are desperately trying to keep the hype levels up for another 6 months but with little to work with.

If you're looking for a bit more content on the game, I managed to interview numerous marketing team members at their E3 booth and posted a write-up of what I discovered and the pictures that I took. You can find the full report here:

personally i like Battle Of The Immortals then their other PAY-TO-WIN games.

found some videos from beta that shows character customization and gameplay

gameplay looks slow to me and probably wouldn't be playing it

You would not like Battle of the immortals.  You play the game with your head down, you can never look up hence you can only see a few feet in front of you.  It is what they call 2 1/2D, ie is just a 2d game with an attempt at adding the 3rd dimension.   Can't understand why in this day and age you would produce such a limited game.  Shame too as the graphics are superb and it is reasonably fun to play with the exception you can never really look very far ahead to see what is there.

Personally, I have played PW for over two years and never invested a dime in it.  Now it is strictly casual play and yet you can play the game to fairly high level that way for free.  While with RoM I gave up once I started to get into the high 30's.
