Correct. Hitting mobs of the opposite faction while in the Holy Lands raises your flag. As for not raising your flag and just PVE in this zone, well you can do that, until the other side with a War Banner comes over and kills you. The Banner allows them to attack anyone irregardless of flag level.

Unfortunately the game still has major flaws. To get the best PvP gear, you must pvp grind for the time period of a week (as the points reset every week), which means you must kill a lot of players from the other side. So, this is done with the help of a high level player or a bunch of them who with banners, just roll through every area of the Holy Lands, including your starter area.

So yes, as soon as you hit Asee-Teph you are forced into PvP whether you like it or not. Quests take you all over the land and their are frequent quests that have you killing the other side mobs. Add to that the banner system, and you will quickly realize that your safety in travelling is limited by the other side. And banners drop from normal monsters as well.

The system is flawed as there is nothing stopping a high level player from ganking a low level player. The game encourages such behavior with the pvp title/equipment system. If you have avoided being on the wrong side of a banner flagged player, then consider yourself lucky, that luck will run out soon.

Also this pattern does not change much when you leave Asee=Teph as the 2nd and 3rd areas on this allod are also pvp zones. Its a fun game up until level 20, after that, it gets annoying.

For me the biggest problems in Allods are pvp and instances. I like pvp (I have played Lineage 2 c3-gracia) but in Allods it is more like ganking than pvp. It is impossible to solo quest in holy land, it is impossible to do this quests with same lvl ppl as you (2-3 high lvl players of enemy > many 23-25 lvl players). Help of high lvl players is just needed to complete holy land quests and instances (try to complete CB with 6 ppl with 20-23 lvls). Imo if you get quest on x lvl you should be able to complete this quest with full party of x lvls.

I know this is mmo and ppl should socialize and work together, but some things are imo ridicolus. I am in friendly guild, ppl help eachother but I just don't want to ask 40 lvl players to help with 23+ lvl stuff all the time (I40 lvl palyers have their own things to do, they are not  newbies babysitters) and it is not l2p issue.

Thanks. That was my understanding as well.  It appears that it follows the all too typical pattern from many import games. I suspect it has to be cultural or so many of them wouldn't continue to make the same glaring mistakes.  I've long since had my fill of gankfest games.  Its too bad, as it does look like fun otherwise.  But being one or two shotted by higher levels, not to mention FOD is just too much.

Well the FOD is being removed next or the following patch. Still though, being 1-2 shotted while trying to quest or reputation grind is just plain annoying. Its a beautiful game with many nice parts to it, pity the pvp system as it stands is so blatantly unfair that it actually rewards the higher level players from ganking the lower ones.

These games really need to take notes from games like WOW and DAoC where the battlegrounds were instanced to certain levels, and pvp isn't forced upon you, rather it is an option. You don't have to go into the frontiers to level to max, but it does provide some rewards like relics and treasure. Of course DAoC has devolved into a pvp fest and new players should beware.

WOW I have not ried the BGs, but I hear it works a bit better than the pvp system did at launch. The main synopsis I have seen so far is that most of the games where pvp is available on a global scale, are the games that have a small following or are chock full of gank fests.

Allods is a good game to check out, just beware that after getting to the Holy Lands, its a gankfest, unless you have a friend who is high level to act as bodyguard. Or you just plain don't mind dying 50+ times as you strive to complete the quests to get to the next gank zone. The next zone isn't quite as bad as the previous since most of the ganking comes around the central lake for fishmen rep. After that land, you go to the other side of Asee-Teph where there is also little pvp as the monsters are too many and really dangerous, not to mention the land is rather "open". Its really just the 23-27 levels that  suck.

as far as i know and read they are putting a different Fod system into the game. I believe something about detiriorating armor where you still have to buy a cash shop item. I played and loved this game while it was in beta, dissapointed in it now Releasing it with fod and the cash shop mandatory items is ridiculous. Other than that it is a good game, we will see in a few months where it is.

I have posted this in another thread but I feel it is relevant here as well.

It's my opinion from much observation that every free to play game on the market uses forced pvp as a crowbar to lever people into the cash shop for survival.

I have seen people mention Aion in this thread as well.  I played Aion for quite some time, and drawing upon my experience with free to play mmorpg, I can tell you with a high degree of confidence that Aion was designed with a cash shop in mind.

Allods has allot of positives working for it, as a free to play mmo.  It does not stack up in any way with pay to play mmo's, and if the overall game progression is going to lead me into spending upwards of 100.00 per month starting at level 23 just to refrain from pulling my own hair out in frustration, the fact is I'm just going to find a $15.00 per month game.

If the game wend subscription today, it would never make it. It's very good for a free to play, but does not stand a chance under any circumstances in the big leagues.

I guess what I'm saying is... why nut just pay the $15.00 per month for a better game, and actually have fun?

Sanity is a delusion. The only truth is madness.

Spending 100 $ on 23 lvl will not help you much. Fod on this lvl is not so annoying (so using perfumes will be waste of money) and 10 lvl higher player will own you w/o any problems (doesn't matter if you use any cs items or not).

Cash shop is really needed in end game (high lvl runes, crystal chips and perfumes for instances), mid lvl game is annoying, but don't required cs items.

Another thing you should probably be aware of...

The hackers and exploiters who are doing the 1 shot ganking.  They have fun methods of doing more than 1 heroic dungeon in a day and have insane gear.  Most likely the same people who hacked the game and hit 40 super fast.  Basically bored out of their mind - log on to 1 shot people who have not been informed that hacks and exploits (game killing ones) existed.

I made it out of the first area of Holy Lands - and while the ganks happen less often, I'm not hard core enough to compete with the exploiters and hackers.

    See ya Allods

Anyone 20 levels higher than you can 1 shot you. Doesn't matter if they're fully geared or if they're in vendor crap, they'll do it all the same.

Yay for misinformed noobs slandering games?

people.. people... you can actually remove fod by simple talk to the npc, next to where you spawn after dead, and by myrrh to remove your fod. <.<

You don't even need to spent any money on the Itemshop to get anything ingame, not even perfume (Can do a daily, keep the one you get at level 16, Auctionhouse).

Wow really ? that much ganking ? I played the tutorial newbie area and it's not bad.. you had to form a group/raid to kill the restless soul which is the first raid boss you'll meet. If it's that much ganking in the holy lands then that's too bad I'm not the sort with patience for repetitive ganking without a chance to fight back. Oh well... so long allods.. gonna uninstall. Also the amount of gold spammers in the game are kinda annoying.
