Entropia Universe: Vehicle System Added

garrettgarrett MMORPG.COM Staff UncommonPosts: 284

The team from Entropia Universe has announced a brand new vehicle system for players to enjoy.

VEHICLES

They are fast and they are awesome - vehicles are now available in Entropia Universe!

Take your friends on a road trip, cruising through the varied landscapes of the different planetary systems. Take a joyride along the coast or through the inland, quickly reaching remote locations. Drive through PvP zones, sneak up on opponents in a pimped military car, and crush all resistance.

With this new Vehicle system, the whole community now has the opportunity to build vehicles.

The features included in today's release are just the beginning of the Vehicle system content. The development teams are already working with upcoming features:

Boats. It will soon be possible to cruise the lakes and oceans on the planets of Entropia Universe. Several different types of boats will be available.

Aircrafts. Rule the sky with a helicopter or aircraft. Enjoy fast traveling with your friends between different locations. Motor cycles, hovercrafts, tanks, sports cars and other vehicles you can drive on land.

The vehicle system is also the gateway to space, enabling for avatars to cruise around in space and visit various places and planets in space.

The commissioning step is a preparation for vehicles that will be possible to modify more than today´s models. This means that the users can modify cars for a more unique look with special and perhaps rare vehicle parts. This will also affect the vehicle statistics.

New rules will be added to the existing Event system, where vehicles will have a more prominent role. In those events the cost for using the vehicles and vehicle weapons will be adjusted for a much cheaper usage.

More on Entropia Universe, here.

Really? I thought this game died long ago. I tried it for about two days before realizing the free to play on this one was really really expensive. I not having disposable income for a 4th rate game opted out. I am guessing if they still have the impossible to make without real world cash style they had before then I must conclude having a vehicle in the game will cost you at bare minimum 10s of thousands of dollars. Enjoy your mortgage and your new ride.

Well besides the free ones, but pretty likely if you didn't pay to play you didn't get one.

The first vehicles were handed out to random people (hope they still do that when I get back from work) and they need oil to run, so it is not free. Sure if you want an uber armored car (or plain in the future) it will cost you money, but if you don't it should not be to expansive.

And no, the game didn't die, take another look at it and don't  expact to be an uber any time soon. If you realize that it's a fun game to play.

Dauntis, Entropia is far from dying out. The devs make a killing from it.

Vehicles here I come! It was some time ago that I played Entropia, but now I will have to get back to it. I took a break and have mostly been playing browser MMO games, which are nice. But I miss the action of Entropia.

This looks like a pretty cool game.  While I've considered playing it, I'm not sure I can afford to.

I'll consider vehicles to be "available" when Mindark makes a functioning installer.

I've been waiting over a year for that.

Good Lord..............not only has this game survived extinction, it survived it for 10 years...how...why....and what are in stored here.

Vehicles and space travel was mentioned 10 YEARS AGO!!!!!! So it took these idiots 10 years to finally implement it.

This is not a game, it's a money pit....AVOID this title it's worthless, if you do, well....you have been warned so it's you're own fault.

If everything wasn't so luck based I'd try it again, but since they aren't going to revamp the system, I think I'll pass.

i remember reading a news, one of the real estate property in game sold for more than $100,000 a few months back.  This game is by far the most expansive game to play in my knowledge.

Well i can say a group of friends and I made 20k USD proffit playing this game when it first came out. They kept changing how things worked and we gave up trying to keep up... I sure wish we had stuck it out now...

I have a few in game items that are as old as the game that are now worth $1,000's of dollars... and yes thats $'s not peds.

Needless to say i have not played in some time, but i normaly log in 1 time a month just to keep my account active.

    played M59,UO,lineage,EQ,Daoc,Entropia,SWG,Horizons,Lineage2.EQ2,Vangaurd,Irth online, DarkFall,Star Trek
and many others that did not make the cut or i just plain forgetting about.

Back in the day there was actually a geological pattern to resources, and there was a group of us that actually worked the land and we made about $200 a month selling resources to other players.

Apparenlty MindArk wasn't too happy about that and they changed everything to be random, so now it's nothing more than a slot machine.

The only way this is a fun game to play is if you dump $1000 into it immediately.  Otherwise it is probably the grindiest game out there, bar none.  There  are very few activities you can do without spending money on the game and the chances of striking it rich are very slim.

Put the same 15 bucks per month that you would in another MMO and you'll be able to do lots. Since the in-game economy is tied to RL, progress is slow, and players need to plan and act wisely. If you're an impulse spender, this is not the game for you.  Another difference, should you have over 100 bucks worth of stuff and you decide to quit, sell out in-game, then make a withdrawal from the game. The company will send you a check or bank deposit (minus some fees, but you get funds back. This key difference seperates EU from many other MMOs.

The $1000 buck deposit thing is coming from the short attention span crowd that expects to be uber immediately. Again, the Real Cash Economy dictates a slower pace.
