SOE customer service continues to amaze me

OK, I got a chance to get some EQ II in this weekend. I had to make a petition twice for some problems I was having in the game. Within 30 minutes I had a gm answer me both times, and they had me corrected and back up and running within 5 minutes of that.

I was shocked, I was in awe, I might even have been in denial for about 10 minutes. Not since 2 years into EQ 1 have I seen sony give me that kind of service. Yet again Sony seems to be showing us that they really are listening to their players (almost too much at times in some regards now!). I am very glad I decided to give them one last try. ::::28::

Not to knock SOE, but they are up against some pretty tough competition right now.  It behooves them to make sure CS is above par right now and I'm happy to hear they're doing it.  I also hope the phenomena will last.

As a former CSR in EQI, I'm hoping that they have much better tools in EQII.  CSRs in EQI were mostly useless - messenger carriers for the higher-ups - and the higher-ups were so swamped, and switched between servers so often, that most serious complaints were lost in the sauce.  We spent half our time trying to enforce the PNP (play nice policy) and the other half trying to catch up with the GMs to remind them of the real problems in need of attention.  The other half (yeah, 3 halves, meaning we spent a lot more time CSR'ing than we bargained for) was spent posting our shift reports in various places on the CSR website.

Although there are a lot of people who are disappointed in EQII in general, I feel it is a game worth attention and one that can be very immersive and involving.  At the risk of inflaming our resident PvP'ers, I sincerely hope that SOE keeps PvP out of the game, not only because I don't care for it, but because tweaking and maintaining it will divide efforts from what has always been the primary focus of EQ - PvE play.

Not a PVPer myself, but IMO this ain't gonna happen.  To me it's obvious this game was designed from step one to transition into PvP, or perhaps more correctly, RvR, and I think the countdown has already begun.  Even though I don't seek out PvP, if they do a decent job and don't go hog wild it could be fun. DAOC was pretty good.

I actually have to disagree with you on that Wickes, I don't think it will have anything more then /duel in it.

They are, and my girlfriend used to be a CSR for EQ 1, and alot of my poor opinion on EQ 1 and SWG's customer support stems from that, along with personal experiences I have had with GMs. Competition is a very good thing.

No way will there be PvP because there some of the mage classes will instakill you if you get close enough. I don't know if anyone has played a necro, but they will pretty difficult to defeat in PvP.

At the moment the classes are unbalanced and if PvP is introduced, which I find unlikely unless it's in an Arena or consensual, then some serious gameplay adjustments would need to be made.

Why are people asking for PvP in a game that always stated it is PvE. I've seen a few threads were someone has bought EQ2 thinking there was PvP in it or expecting there to be. I dare anyone to show me a link from a EQ2 designer or similar source saying there might possibly be PvP in the future.
