I've tried alot of the MMORPG's out there and honestly nothing keeps me interested. And I think this is mainly because I was exposed to Ultima Online. The game had such a high replayability factor for me. Because I could do ALOT of things in the game. Just all sorts of things and different stuff each time I played. I play games like WoW and I feel like all I'm doing is killing monsters. I've never tried EQII yet. But I'm guessing it's much the same.
Is there anything else out there that offers a high replaybility factor? I haven't tried Final Fantasy or SWG. There's alot of games out there in development that interest me, but I'm needing something now. I'm probabily being too nit picky here. I just can't get over UO! Which I seriously need to do because I'll never play the game again because of all the exploiting and hacking/bugs to the game.
Can anyone please convince me to give your game a try? Because I'm honestly having a hard time finding one on my own.

I had this same problem after leaving Anarchy Online. Personally, (IMO, that is) I think MxO might fill that void.
If you havn't tried AO yet, there's a free version. Not gonna lie, it looks a bit dated, but there's 1000000000 things to do at any given time, and if you buck up and pay for teh expansions.....it might get a bit overwealming trying to decide how to spend your time. I played for three years, and never saw all teh content in teh game, and they've since released ANOTHER expansion.
Of course, you could always try MxO. (The Matrix Online). One of the best features of this game is that as long as you can buy/make the abilities, you can pretty much just swap "professions" whenever teh mood strikes, so you can enjoy every aspect of the game with only one character. Plus it's fun to pop in crafting abilities, make yourself some uber gear, and then go kick some butt with it with your Soldier or Spy or Hacker, or whatever skills loaded.
Anyway, good luck.
Good post.
I wish that I could tell you the name of what you are looking for. In truth, it is optimistically years away...maybe.
I know what you want, i want it too, as does every person that reads these boards. The problem is that no one has been able to articulate it in terms that are acceptable to the producers and the game company execs.
Until that time we will be playing these gind type games against a static and shallow backdrop.
Regards~
DaoC is horrible, i went back to it but it feels so outdated, the combat system will put you to sleep in 30 minutes. I wasted my money on catacombs, dont make the same mistake. I wish there was a good mmo out there right now but all of them are boring to me right now. I'm playing HL2 for now and Battle for middle earth until a good mmo is out, wheneverr that will be.......
Aye, Me been exposed to Ultima Online too...
What's to become of us? no other game cmpares to ultima online... if it werent for them damn eggheads at EA not wanting to upgrade the graphics...
UO rocks, UO is the best out there, no other game has yet given us as much as UO gave.
*edit* EVE online gave me a "little" of that UO gave, the freedom to do what you want to do. But yet... still its not a substitute.
uo needs a new client.
Im sorry but i left mainly because it s the only way i can cast my vote for them to change something.
Not sure how much money your looking to spend but they have an all acess pass now where you can play EQ2 and SWG plus all there other games for 21 bucks. If your not into spending that much you could just try SWG. I dont currently play anymore but if your looking for a game with alot to do, that game has tons to do. Id rate that game really high if it wasnt for the poor combat system (too easy to master proffessions). But they are doing a combat revamp soon which should make this a grade A game again. Either way it was tons of fun.
I also played EQ2 before they added more solo content. Very good game also. Right now Im in WOW, I enjoy it so far. But like everyone said, ill probably get bored after im done leveling up. If thats the case , Ill head back to EQ2 and SWG since they have the pass and I still have both accounts.
Would like to see UO come through with a new UO. I heard about UOX, but then they stopped doing it. Not sure if they have plans to try it again or not. If they did , Id probably give it a go.
hey there win, yeah actually i heard about SWG, and the part i especially like is the open skill system (like uo( - there arent any shitty and limited "player classes", so you can setup any kind of template you want.
Thats one thing i hate about otehr mmos out there, the lack of skill freedom. Wow, eq2, Ac2 and all them are great, but really you have no customization in your skills, all you can choose are between perks or special abilities within a set class. Thats really limits the freedom of the player to do what he/she wants to do.
Win, i just downloaded the SWG trial, seeya there?
There is NO other game on the market that can compare to UO. I've been searching for the one that will take its place, and it's no longer under development, that game was WISH. So, after 7 years, I still play UO and refuse to pay to play a MMOG if it features less content or replay value that UO has, I set UO as a standard. Graphics don't mean crap to me, dolby digital surround and epic movie quality scores can kiss my a$$, its all about the game play and replay value, something 99% of the games on the market single player or not, all lack.
If players would set a higher standard for themselves, and refuse to play the hordes of junk that now saturate the market, we would have better games to play and less crapware.
EvE online:)
Want to ENJOY an mmo?
Dont start a guild and dont be a leader or volunteer to be coleader or captain.
Just play the damn game:)
Trade skills are a very important part of SWG, a very rich progression tree (or complex - depends how you look at it). Also there is PVP based on faction - Empire vs. Rebels. You usually have to turn your faction flag on to be ambush or be ambushed, but there are some special areas where it's a war zone.
The folks at icarus studios are trying to fill that void and achieve the UO depth and replayability, while in a new refreshing post-apoc super vast and deformable world. You should check their game out, but they're not even in Beta yet. Probably later this year if some of us are lucky to get an account...
Fallen Earth
I too have been through the UO blessing/curse. The one game that I am following, whether it actually makes it to beta and gold or not, is www.trialsofascension.com.
Yes, I am an advocate for this game, or rather an advocate for the what this game COULD be based on what is known about design and the culture of the community. So rather than stick with any of the current level-time-sink styles of MMO gaming, I interact on their boards.
If you poke around, you might be intrigued.
Permadeath and environmental challenges are the next great step in the evolution of MMORPGs. Only through true adversity will one feel accomplished. Only in truly knowing you can die will true adversity present itself.
hi, i agree, i played UO for 7yrs and could play any type charater on any shard i wanted. i also could make anything that a player could make in the game. EQ2 tradeskill is not worth the trouble as if ya make something, unless you sell it to another player you wont make any money from selling to a vendor. mobs dont drop enuff loot to keep your tradeskills going if your trying to be self sufficent, as you needed to have 3 to 4 diff tradesmen with all the books. they changed it somewhat, now you need to buy more books and waste time and money getting that those skill lvls up to where you need them to be. to make an Adept spell, man try and harvest a rare (very hard) or buy one, wait im broke cant do that as that player wants 5 million so he can lvl. as for combat if you figure out that a 20 is really a 20 not a 24 or 25 depending on the stupid brackets, you might actualy win a fight. whats wrong with makinf a lvl 20 a 20 and throw in some 22 to 25 in area if thats what they want. most quest are made for you to have to group. i would say quest are 90% need group and 10% can solo. or wait till the quest is greyed out and not worth any xp then ya can solo. i was hoping this would be a great game with the hype about it, but so far has been a big let down. WOW is a little better as most quest can be done with out groups, if need a group it usually says elite, same with mobs there are lvl 20 mobs then some lvl 20 elite (using lvl 20 as an example). the elite have more hit points and do more damage. right now im about to let both accounts go belly up and wait for something else to come out. Hope you find something good, if so let us know
