Is MMORPG.com planning on giving us an article concerning their meeting with 38 Studios at E3? I know they were not showcasing, the game wont come out until at least 2012, and that they probably didnt tell you anything, but is anything going to be shared regarding Copernicus?
Thanks
Comments
From what i know they weren't even at E3 so unless the devs release info themselves dont expect anything from these guys.
We were at E3, met with MMORPG too. You'll be hearing from us at some point soon, as in this year soon.

Regarding Mercury or Copernicus?
Man Copernicus is my most anticipated game on the horizon glad to see some stuff starting to be put out and looking forward to the single player game for an introduction to the wold.

Just like all the other games, I have no room for hypa anymore. They all fall into the same game play, level grinding. It doesn't matter what else might be put into a game, once level grind is included that becaomes the most important aspect, and that's where players focus.
Level grind brings some problems to other aspects that might be included, too. I'd like to see more socialized systems, such as city building and special orders or organizations. But level grind brings zones, and separates players into wide ranges of level groups and world zones. That pretty much screws any in depth socialization.
Another thing is these MMOs are being built for the extreme gamers, leaving everybody else as an after thought to follow along. So, if the game isn't made like WoW, where all players get exactly the same experience, just at a different pace, then problems start to come up. I don't want WoW style direction and controlled play, and I equally don't want a game with freedom to be focused on any one player group or style.
But finding any experienced developers who are able to come up with new ideas seems impossible. They all seem to believe in the same grind system, the same focus towards one group of players. Until that changes, I'm just not a happy camper for MMOs. I haven't seen anything from this game that's any different. A few statements, just like all the others come out with, so I am not convinced.
Once upon a time....
At this point I'd be most interested in knowing if it will be the typical quest-grinder with quest hubs and connect the dots gameplay which has become standard now.
If Curt himself responding to this post doesn't answer your question, I dont know what will.
Yes guys, we did meet with 38 Studios to talk about upcoming stuff.
Jon and I were both very excited!! Right now we know as much as you do and I know Curt is eager to get the word out!
Thanks for stopping by Mr. Schilling!
Both. We were there to reach out to the real gaming community, the MMORPG sites of the world. Making sure they understand, that WE understand they are relevent and matter to us, since their communities are the exact people we want to be our guests and consumers for the next 20 years.

Well, if you give us what we want there will be a lot of people listening. Just, you know, get away from what the industry is doing and so many are complaining about. Advance this MMO thing.
But until we see it, most of us have heard it before. But I'm sure we'll all give you the benefit of a doubt and watch closely.
Once upon a time....
Whoa. I don't want to sound like a drooling fanboy despite how much this post probably makes me do just that, but I have to say...
Much respect to Curt for posting here among the rabble, and much respect to fellow MMORPG.com'ers for not mobbing him with 23235367646764563455 questions.
Curt, we're all anxious to know what Copernicus/Mercury is/are going to be like, but you guys just take your time to do what you need to do. I'd rather wait to know about what's pretty much set in stone rather than to hear "Our game will have this, that, and the other", only to find out closer to release that "that", and "the other" had to be cut due to time or budgetary reasons. We'll be here. Trust me.

Is Rashere still working there?
I'm looking forward to hearing about it
I just really hope that Curt knows this is what a majority of us want:
An open ended world, with no outdoor loading screens. Seemless.
Skill based gameplay, rather than "you hit level 42, now pick your skills"
A unique sandbox-like crafting system like Ryzom, SWG, etc..
World PvP that is meaningful
Heck, if he includes ONE OR TWO of these things, he will succeed. That's how bad it is these days..
Same here. With they guys they have involved in 38 Studios, I think there's a very real chance that they'll be able to create something special in the MMO space.
Any more information regarding Mercury or Copernicus would be greatly appreciated. I'm very interested in both.

Curt thanks for the update.
I'm excited about any new information you share.
I'm more excited about the fact this is your dream and your reaching out to the communities and respond to their questions.
Regardless of what happens hold onto your dream, make it happen.
And if you need help, I'll help you anyway I can.
Yup, same here, in the Boston area as well.
He'll get a purchase from me just as a thanks!
And if the game is good then I'll play it as well

I have to say that atleast Copernicus has been one of the most guarded secrets of MMO world for quite some time. From everything else that we know is in development there have been some leaked screenshots or atleast some concept art sketches but atleast I haven't seen any from Copernicus. Now with publishing deal with EA for Mercury I wonder will also Copernicus be under EA's umberella or will they self-publish it. Interesting times and let's hope that we actually do see some screenshots from the game by now.
I just wish i would win the damn lottery so i could invest some capital into 38Studios.
Here's a link to some info put out by 38 Studios at E3 this year:

I'd like to see a modern Asheron's Call style game myself...
As a lifelong Cardinals fan, I'm still willing to overlook 2004 and buy the game.
Hey, at least it wasn't the damn Yankees!
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
As a long time sports fan, my only gripe EVER with Curt was his comments when he sat courtside during the 2008 NBA Finals in which the Celtics beat the Lakers.
He talked about how Kobe does not properly motivate his players because he was mad at them and raising his voice, and the Celtics huddle was all positive with energy and smiling.
He forgets two things...winning equals all smiles and losing equals frustration. It is so easy to say how the Celtics were in good spirits when they are up by 20 points!
Plus Michael Jordan yelled at his players all the time..
Wow....a CEO posting on the forums.......that's insane!
as a Die-hard Yankees fan, I would like to take a moment to give Mr Schilling some cudos for being the fantastic, big game pitcher he was. 2001 was hard to deal with. but the big 3 games to none lead was way more of a let down than that. Congrats to Mr Schilling for being a big part of the Yankees demise in both instances.
I've been trying to follow copernicus as much as possible since reading a magazine article about it last year. Not much info was given about the game in said article, but I tried as best as possible to find some info. I even became a curt schilling "fan" on facebook(and caught alot of grief for it from my friends) just to ask about the game. then a week later I found out the page was a fake, lol
I feel Mr Schilling and myself are alot alike. I played D1 baseball and like Mr Schilling I felt I was a "gamer" in the baseball sense of the meaning. SO I was very pleased to her he was also a "gamer" in the computer sense of the word. I've read and seen some interviews and am excited to see what comes out of 38 Studios.
that all being said I have just one question for Mr Schilling.......red paint or real blood?
lol
