cosycosy Member UncommonPosts: 3,228

now joining in the bandwagon of thread about buying eve online skill points whit real life real moneys $$$€€€ are you happy about this ? will this reduce the gap between early day eve player and 2010 characters ?  if you dint join eve because you can catch up whit older character do you want to join now ? are you willing to buy teh win ?

how this system should work ? a fixed price per 1 million skill points  or the price should increase if you have a more skill points ?

If they start selling skill points for money, Im done.

  • MinmataroMinmataro Member Posts: 55

They won't be selling Sp for rl cash ever.

  • TheHatterTheHatter Member Posts: 2,547

IF they started selling SP, then you're definitely not looking at $5/1mil. lmfao

An 8mil SP Miner, properly trained, is equal to almost $200 if you buy it through GTCs. I know, I bought one like that and I got a DAMN good deal. 2.5bil I think is what I paid. That's $25/mil. If CCP sold SP, you're probably looking at $35 - 45/mil.

It would be the dumbest move ever! CCP would be committing suicide.

I agree with some of the other players on this being a great idea.

They should sell SP for real money.

Course, those I agree with have been looking at something like this:

    $1-2 per SP....

...the stupidity that arises because of CCP trying to be nice about the xDT.

Personally.... pretty sure the SP distribution thing is becuase they want to remove learning skills... CCP has stated that they don't like them. I'd have to agree.

If I had to guess, they'll reinbuse SP that was spent in Learning and set attributes to a fixed number. CCP isn't /compltely/ stupid. Though that's just a guess. I highly doubt we'll see an SP store...

    I know, it's wearying...

But if you look closely, all the fuss is being stirred up by a very few characters making lots of noise about this trying to drum up some momentum.

This reminds me of last year when Chribba jokingly said that CCP were going to start new players who bought the EVE box set with OVER NINE MILLION skillpoints. It was obviously a joke, there was absolutely nothing from CCP to indicate that this was the case, and the idea was ridiculous on the face of it.

And yet the threadnaughts still came...

Even if they did start selling SP for Real-Life Cash, I'd not do it.  What's the point?  Buy a new game, buy a load of skill points, and lose the actual LEARNING of the game.  It's like people that buy WoW/DAoC Characters.  They get a full loaded character, but no clue how to play it.

Give me starting from the beginning and working through it any time thank you :)

It is kind of amazing how these rumors went to town, when the News item from them was explicit about the fact the SP was for the downtime and the gift was a lead into the Primae ship... yet with it being pointed out over and over again, people are still claiming the world is flat and speculating on how much it will cost to add some curves.

another "new EVE players can never be as good as older players because they have more skillpoints then us newbs" crap.

Learn to play the game -if you did at all- and you would see that new players can be as good -even better- then a LOT of older players.

Rumor thread should be locked, and the OP should be tarred and feathered, because he should know better.

er...some folks should realize OP is a long time EVE veteran who completely understands how EVE works.

I can't see CCP ever doing anything like this, even I would have to stop playing (and paying for)  the game in protest if such a thing came to pass.

I want CCP to move to the SWG Pre CU skill box system. That way it would give skills meaning and you'd have to make choices of what you want your character to be. If you want to change at any time then you drop your skills and start again. This would be great for new players to never feel inferior to veterans of EVE. It would also mean you don't have to own multiple accounts to have ALTS, as once you hit the cap with one character, you could train another without ever feel bad that you aren't training your main.

This would lead to an interesting change of sub numbers. But would you really do this if you were CCP?

would wish you could do something to enhance the SP gained, but wouldnt want it to be a real money bought thing.

Yeah, from over 300k subs to however many subs Miffy has...

...you might as well take the ships out of EVE while at it.

You can already buy characters, within game rules, for the purpose you want. Maybe someone else I don't care about has spent time switching skills (so much difficulty...). But for the person buying the characters it's all about a dent in the wallet and voil
