Hello!! MMORPG.COM Help... XCOM or ELITE like game wanted!

Hi all i just signed up so hello!

I have played MMORPG games only for a short while and have only really played SW Galaxies on the Euro Infinity Server. I thought it wa a good game but i dislike sony's milk the players policies and the game play had some faults......still it was fun to begin with....

Im looking for something new and also have just discovered BBG! Never knew about them before.....

I wonder can anyone point me in games that are fully or nearly developed and simlar to XCOM or Elite...

I really wish they would make a Frontier Elite MMORPG it is perfectly designed for that kind of format....

anyways im getting excited just thinking about frontier elite online....oh well....

    Sounds like what you need is Eve Online.

    The space flight isn't player skill based but it's got Elite-like gameplay.

    As for XCOM, the closest thing I can think of is AO with the Alien Invasion expansion.

    Hi thanks for the reply....i thought about checking EVE out......i notice you can download it...is there just a monthly fee or do u have to buy the game too?

    Im looking for either of those games in a Browser based thingy.....im at work a lot of the time but i wanna try and play....have just discovered ogame.org. But looking for something better!!

    AO is Anarchy Online. I played it for 18 months and had a great time.

    Revisited it a couple of times but the old spark has gone.

    Any suggestions for a BBG or MMPORPG that is like xcom or elite.....there must be a turn based strategy game somewheres..

    I agree with you games like Elite, UFO are good single player games that should transltate well to a mmorpg. Good story lines, character development and they were very popular, ah the days of the Amiga.

    I would like to see X, which is really an updated version of Elite, turned into a mmorpg.

    Ive played AO and give EVE a try, at the moment there is no real online equivalent to either X-COM or Elite. There is definitely a bias in mmorpg development to concentrate on fantasy, I think market share is about 80% according to mmogchart.

    Personally I'd like to see more sci-fi mmorpgs, there are some on the market, SWG being another one, I would have thought that sci-fi was just as more popular than fantasy anyway? there must be just as many LOTR fans as there are Star Wars fans.

    I did play all of the XCOM games and loved 'em to death. Even when I had to track down aliens hiding in fridges!!!!!

    even though i liked elite i couldnt get in to x2......im not sure why perhaps i felt it was too linear or arcade...

    Has anyone tried world war II online...looks pretty cool...

    ill check out that lasersquad site..

    I really hope that some developer does something elite based i cant think of a better sci fi game...id expect devs and publishers to milk it to the max not let it rot....
