The game has been out for two weeks today. There's still another two weeks on the free month not counting the extra free time they're going to provide to cover for downtime.

The sever still has stability issues causing the odd crash and there are still a lot of bugs in game, SV won't be opening it up to free trials soon because people would just get pissed off and not come back to the game afterwards. Wait a few months until the game is fixed up more and perhapes there will be rumours of a free trial but just look how long it took darkfall to get the free trials in.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect any form of free trial for at least a couple months, sorry.

  • ReizlaReizla Member RarePosts: 4,092

I was already afraid for that. I am interested in MO, but am in doubt. Thre's a load of shit dumped on the game, but I think it might be good enough for me. I've takena look at some of the (recent) movies on YouTube, and it looks even more promising than before.

The worse problem (as I said before) is the 1st person view. I suck so much at it. Perhaps it's time to start trainging :D

Yup... if WoW is your backup game, I think I can safely say MO might not be for you.

    If you're considering MO at the moment heres a few points to keep in mind;

1.) There are small bugs still in the game

2.) The server will crash a 2-3 times a day now

3.) All of the above will be fixed asap

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I advise you decide what path you're wanting to take, read up on the forum how to level up effectively and what races and stats are most beneficial to you. Then you'll be ready to join us in the world of Nave ;)

Also find a guild quickly and hop on ventrillo with them, much more fun.

No offense.... but 2-3 times a DAY?  Umm.. that's not even in the ballpark.  I am sure that even Funk will agree that is not a realistic statement.  Heck.. just look at the numbers published.  Last week (which ended yesterday) they were averaging 16-17 crashes a day.

They are different games, but it's funny how the default line of most of the MO members (not you) is "go back to wow noob!"

They said that in Darkfall too, then begged people to come back as the server population thinned out. Go figure.

There's been dramatic improvement. However there's probaby a couple more than that realistically just only a couple when im online.

When was this dramatic improvement?  The hard numbers for last week averaged to 16-17 per day.  That's as of yesterday.  Last night while watching the live stream we watched it crash maybe 5 or 6 times in 3 hours.  So was this dramatic improvement today?   If so.. that's not bourne out by the posts on the Server Status Thread where a quick scan shows about 15 crashes since midnight (thats my time as its on the forum).

This is why it's important to differentiate facts and opinions as demonstrated in the other thread.

A week ago I was being booted consistently and noticed that, when I wanted to log in, I had about a 70% chance of getting in.  This week I've been booted noticably less and have been able to log in more reliably.   Don't ask me to explain this in terms of the data-miner's numbers, but this seems to be a common observation, and I'm guessing that's Thorii's claim as well.

I know my experiences are not fact, but to be fair all things are illusory and all is flux, so maybe  it's a moot point.

Seriously I'm tired of this "if you don't like the game you are a carebear" and "go back to WoW". Almost all the MO-fanbois argue like 5 year olds, you never get anywhere with your arguments.  Some people can't play a buggy unpolished game with little content. Probably not why they quit, no? It's probably because all of them are carebears!

And before I get flamed, I love playing Mortal Online, I have actually no problems playing the game with the bugs, crashes. I enjoy the game in the state it is but I'd gladly appreciate some more content and more polishment :)

But even though I enjoy Mortal Online very much I guess I have to quit because it's obviously MO isn't for me - since I play WoW...

Heh, you call me a child  while telling me I make poor arguments.

Moving on from the name-calling thing:

I never said carebear, I never said "anyone who likes WOW will NOT like MO".

WoW and MO are two very different games, with very little overlap except that they're both MMORPG's.   WoW is wildly popular, so I assume there's a lot going for it.

Saying this game is still at the half-finished stage is still being very generous.  Weapons aren't balanced, gear isnt, people still get stuck, bugs still a-plenty, server crashes ever 30-minutes or so.   PvP is a miss-mash of lagging and warping, people pulling their connection cords, world is empty, the list goes on.  Maybe in a year?

How fast people forget about WOW's launch...

Took me and many others nearly 2 months to find a stable server... I played WOW for 5yrs, I have played Darkfall, AC1 and many others, Every single MMO nearly has issues the first month or so. I have no idea why people whine about a new game, its simple do not buy any game the first few months,  if you do not like to deal with this types of problems its simple.

No you rather sit on the fourms and whine about how much the game sucks, The same thing happen on WOW's forums there first few months.. I think people like to whine like 3yrs old that can't get what they want, my advise to you is to wait a few months and see if the game is stable if not then stop whining. Todays gamers make me sick, the reason most games can't compete sub wise is the gamers today cry like 3yr olds.

Get some damn sun get laid something... I,m not fanboi or what ever you call it but this gets old watching these whiners on every darn game on the market ...I really like to know what is everyone deal the last 5 or so years...So many good games out there and people ruin them from whining, some points are valid and I agree but if I hate a game or it annoys me I quit.

Instead some people just whine on these forums, I think these are one of the worse negative forums about MMO's on the net.

Look at 90% of the post about every game here its whine post about how every game sucks....I mean look at even games that are not  out  yet people say they suck, the famous one are where people say SWTOR sucks and no one has -played it yet thats freaking funny!

Gamers today ruin MMo's not the companys or Devs , its the gamers... I love to see one of you make an MMO or any game.. Its not easy and with all the different type of computers and how advance things get so fast while there making it all takes time.. If a game is a pile of crap after a few months I can see that, and Most companys have been giving free down time as they should..

Anyhow try and give these people a break if not then my advise as I said stay away from games until months after , wait for trials something  or just quit gaming and get a girlfriend and whine to her....BUt I know you rather whine... and ruin every game on the market like they did WOW...

Ah, well... I understand what you're saying, but it's still a little off base.  If the whiners controlled the fate of games, WoW would have been dead a long time ago.  Most gamers don't even read the forums, so most gamers aren't even affected by what is said.  Though, I guess there is something to be said about the overzealous near launch time.  These people do make a lot of noise, and a lot of it can be explained by a lack of experience.  WoW brought an astranomical amount of new players into the genrea, and it's no surprise that a lot of these people haven't seen many MMO launches.  It's common for servers to crash, reboot, be down for long periods of time.  Every company has to go through a myriad of bug fixes, and some of those bugs are much more severe than what Mortal Online has seen thus far.

Starvault has openly announced that the launch will be rough.  Why is it such a surprise?  I't s not, people just like to complain to get attention.  Perhaps most of the complainers weren't loved enough as children.  Perhaps they have huge ego's and get a thrill by seeing people respond to them positively or negatively.  Some people just like to annoy others.  All valid reasons in my opinion.  Most people have an inherent lack of ability to think things through.  They just 'nerd rage' to get it out of their system before taking anything else into consideration.  You just have to do your best to understand that it's not their fault... right?

I believe that when it comes to games that are not released in retail outlets, forums have a moderate effect on sales.  I just believe you can attach that tag to all MMO games.  When games hit the shelves and have trials fairly quickly, it generally squashes any bad press due to the fact that the consumer has a chance to play the game and see for themselves.  Notice that Darkfall didn't actually have a trial until it's one year anniversary.  Generally Indi teams have a lot of work to do before their product can be shown off to the public.  It isn't in their best interest to ruin their game on the first impression to the fence sitters and their friends.  I would expect a trial/buddy key when the game is ready.  Which is probably going to mean when the UI is rebuilt, the bugs and crashes are gone, and a decent amount of new content is added and tested by the people currently playing.  Until it's in a state worthy of new player expectations, it will stay the way it is.  You'll just have to wait for a while or fork over the cash.
