Steam and Jade Empire are driving me crazy!

Everyone by now knows about Steams summer sale going on now. I purchased KOTOR1, Republic Commando's, Indigo Prophecy, Beyond Good and Evil, Mass Effect 1, Transformer War for Cybertron, and of course Jade Empire Special Edition.  This was late at night so I went to sleep.  Wake up in morning all of the games are downloaded except Jade Empire.  Which stopped at like 1.9gbs of 6.x gbs.  Ok fine no problem.  Restart download... 10 seconds later it Suspends itself.  Ok pause... resume... 10 seconds later suspended again.  Here it is 24 hours later, and still can not get the damn game to finish downloading.

So ok I think to myself maybe the servers are congested.  So I delete Left 4 Dead 2 local content and begin to redownload it, to test it.  3 hours later L4D2 finishes.  While Jade Empire is of course still turning itself off at random intervals from 10 secs to 5 mins. So my next thought is of course delete Jade Empire local content and try starting from scratch... well that doesn't work because everytime I try to delete it.  It causes Steam to hang.

At this point I'm just extremely pissed off.  Can't get a refund. Have tried multiple suggestions and even went over forum threads.  What do I have to show for my efforts.  2.6 of 6.9 gigs downloaded.  Unable to delete it. Unable to get a refund.  On top of it, it will probably at this rate take 7 or more days to finish downloading. (That's if I keep constantly checking it to see when it stops so I can resume it).  Love steam sometimes and other times I absolutely without a doubt hate it.

In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.

I've bought up some stuff during the summer sale too and I've run into similar snags with the downloads. I'm sure it's just due to the Steam servers being swamped by downloads because of the sale (some really great deals). My guess is that newer, more popular games like Left 4 Dead are on faster/better servers than old games like Jade Empire (in my case, I had no problem downloading Alpha Protocol, but Titan Quest is not working so well). Worst case scenario is that we just have to wait until the sale is over and the servers can breathe again.
