Blitz: The League II developer Twisted Pixel is said to be working on a console MMO for Turbine, according to a report over at Massively.
The report cites Twisted Pixel's game page, which states that they've finished working on a console MMO for Turbine as evidence. Sheesh, if they've already finished it, why haven't we heard anything yet?!

I just hope it isn't a tremendously popular ip that Turbine is going to ruin like LOTR just because they need a pay check. I'm actually pulling for them to be successful this tme around because I like the idea of a console mmo.

Turbine's a little late to the party, considering that Microsoft recently announced a renewed focus on PC gaming. Ironic, considering that Microsoft is largely responsible for gutting the PC game industry by enticing developers to base games around the 360 with secondary focus being the PC gamers that financed the industry in the first place. The MMO industry's experiment with creating games for both PC and console has pretty much been a wash, Champions Online and Age of Conan being prime examples.
If this unnamed game crashes and burns, I won't shed any tears. I happen to like games with a little more depth than repeatedly hitting the same 3 keys all the time.

Renewed focus = Facebook games?
If so, I'm better off if PC gaming just died.

Fable III is a Facebook game? That's the only project they've announced so far. I'm just happy to see the pendulum swing back from the console-centric crap that has been the lion's share of PC releases over the past few years.

They're looking on PC gaming again because of games such as Farmville.
Agreed, even though I do have an Xbox 360 and am getting the PS3, I still prefer the PC over any console.

The old Console vs PC argument raises it head again, as if nearly all PC users don't already own either an Xbox 360 or PS3, I own them and the Wii, no idea what catergory that puts me in, probably the same as 90% of other PC users.
You're the first to bring it up.

Not the first. I brought this up about six months ago in a similar PC vs Console discussion. SInce then I have also acquired a 360 to add to my Wii, N64, PS2, DS, PSP, Desktop and Laptop. I consider my gaming options fairly complete. I wouldn't mind seeing a MMO released for the consoles, if only to prove one could work.
You can do a MMO on a console, just that when it comes to pvp, someone with a mouse and keyboard is going to own the player using a console controller in most cases.
13% of all MMO players are playing Turbine games. LOTRO is third in the west.
Just becouse you don't persionaly like somthing does not mean the game "failed" or is "Messed up" or "Ruined".
So, stop saying things like that.

People on these forums routinely project their personal views onto everyone else and then accept it as truth. It's best to just accept that some people will never understand that others enjoy things they don't. They are the same people that constantly say "Game X will die once these new games get released", because they forget that there are a lot of players that don't jump from game to game to game. They also forget that many of the original MMOs are still running to this day, and making a profit, despite hundreds of new games.
But to be more on topic, I almost wonder what will happen from an announcement like this. If Turbine itself hasn't ever said anything official about a console MMO, then another company releasing information on it seems to either be a lie, or a breach of confidentiality contract. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt this is the way a big company plans on releasing that sort of information.
13% of the entire mmo player base and it is #3 ? I logged into Lotro like 2 months ago to give it the benefit of the doubt. I played on the Brandywine server which is supposed to be considered the most active server. One of the most talked about disccussions in open chat was the fact that there aren't many people playing Lotro anymore even at prime times hours. That right there speaks volumes on how success this game is. I doubt it even has 10% of the mmo player base. There is a huge difference between throwing numbers out on the forum and actually seeing with your own eyes.
Really? Because I played on the Brandywine server for over a year, and was amazed at how many people I saw. I never had trouble getting groups. I'm so hyped about it going f2p - the only reason I left was for money issues.
I agree with what someone else said, that just because it wasn't for you, doesn't mean it's a bad game.
But anyway, I'm really curious about this mysterious MMO. I'm fascinated with the idea of console MMOs because there's only been one successful one to date (FFXI). I believe for one to work, it would -have- to be new and inventive and non-standard, just because of the difference in input devices. Barring a plug-in keyboard, because I personally think it's silly to add a keyboard to a console (might as well just play it on the computer), chat would all have to be voice, with microphones. How could that work as the main chatting device? Just use voice to text for world chat? Or have no world chat? Anyhow, I'm interested.
