This is not a post to take a shot at MO, just report my experience. I played around in the closed beta but could not do much testing due to performance. Open beta hit and I was able to move around some and experience some combat, but not at a level which I would say was enjoyable. Now launch has come and I waited till I read that sync issues and lag were fixed alot, of course not completely though.
I decided to give it a try again since I just cleaned up my pc a little (software only) and hoped I would get better performance this time around. Unfortunately I only was able get a few feet before receiving virtual memory crash errors and such.
Now I will say this, I can not post the specs from my pc, I am at work, but I am not really mad. I read the reports and reviews and constant posts and took a gamble. Would it be nice if I could just log in and roll like LOTRO, sure. If anything it has made me sure of what I already suspected, time to make a few needed hardware upgrades.
I had this problem with Darkfall, Fallen Earth, currently with Dawntide, just about most MMOs except the one listed above. Each of them took me some time to tweak and get running, but that is kind of the deal with pc gaming that I have come to expect since as long as I can remember.
As for the billing issues I am reading about, I had no problem since I just went to my subscription page as soon as I bought it and clicked do not auto renew. I never do that with MMO's. Prefer to just click it when I am ready, only takes a minute. Perhaps I am not the norm on that, but thats how I operate.
I guess I would just recommend caution with MO. I kind of knew I would have issues and would suggest that people should be ready for some headaches and growing pains. I seem to remember playing WOW at launch and waiting in line for login on stormwind for 30 minutes some nites, and thus were the good nites.
Its not a technical review of the game, hell I do not even say much, just trying to give a little perspective on things from my vantage point.
**Updated**
Newest patch applied last nite and now I can run the game without a virtual memory crash error. I have had to downgrade all settings to 512 and turn shadows off totally but at least the game runs now.

Just a clarification on that point. I think most people don;t have an issue with the way the billing/subs are handled for the new orders. It's just that waaaaaay back in June 2009 when most people pre-ordered, there was NO subscription info or account page where you could turn it off. Instead we had a TOS that said you would be charged a subscription AFTER you chose a subscription duration and payment method. Since at the time of purchase there WAS no subscription or paymenty method..according to their own TOS there is no reason to expect to be ninja-subscribed 8 months later. That's what happened here. Folks stopped playing.. wrote off the game. SV then decided to change their own TOS and start subscriptions for everyone who ever bought the game. Even those who stopped p[laying and uninstalled 10 months ago. Even those who never agreed to a subscription and at the time they were playing did not have any website to go and cancel this subscription (because it didn't exist)
So yes.. I agree that anyone who buys the game NOW can simply go and turn it off.. and this is consistent with the recently changed TOS. The original pre-oder folks are quite a different situation though.

Hey thanks for the clarification. I really do not remember what it was like when they opened pre-orders, but I do know I decided against it at the time. I have a horrible memory for some details unless I take a screenshot! I just thought there was to much unclear info to make a decision at that moment.
No problem. It gets confusing because people try and muddy the waters by claiming we are only talking about auto-renewal as per the industry standard. It's important that we draw the distinction between what is happening with new orders (industry standard) and what is happening to the original pre-orders which is very much NOT the way the industry operates.

I really am hoping MO gets things straightened out!
