also is CHaos RIsing For DoW2 a stand alone game? do i need to purchase both to be able to play it?
Comments
well i started gaming with strategy games, still my favorite together with MMORPG's...
Dawn of War 2 is visually awesome, the WH40k universe is just awesome in my opinion. the gameplay in DoW2 is mostly tactical squad gameplay, and later onwards in matches with vehicles ofcourse DoW2 has visually stunning fights!
Supreme commander 2 is also pretty good on the visual side, but its stil a bit on the slow pace traject, not as slow as supreme commander 1 tho'. but its more about massive battles...
there's more good RTS games around, you should check out RUSE, i played in beta and it has good potention really, red alert 3 is fuckin crap compared to red alert 2, but RA3 is a bit more standart RTS...
i don't know what you prefer most in RTS games, if you say that i can help you out alot better
DOW2 player here and I love the game. Very competitive and visally great looking game.
Sup com 2 has good graphics, gameplay is nice but the units and tech tree is rather lame and limited, have not played DoW2,
Do consider the fact that Sup Com2 is through STEAM, youll have to install it and then do 4-7 hour download (DSL) before you can play.
Keepn my eye on R.U.S.E. lookn foward to trying it.
I have both.
SC2 is much more bland than the original, and the maps are quite smaller. Basically, it's a consolized (dumbed down) version of the original, with slightly better graphics. It gets boring relatively quickly.
Dawn of War 2 on the other hand... solid game that captures the WH40k feel quite well. Additionally, you should be able to pick up the original game, plus the expansion for the same price as SC2, if you get it via steam anyways.
If I had to choose between the two, Dawn of War 2, no ands ifs or buts. It's just overall a enjoyable and full game, and it has a few different gameplay options to keep you occupied past the core campaign/s.
i think Dawn of War 2 is good to me ..
There should be demos of both available. Give them both a try and see how you like the feel of them. Personally, both felt like they got boring really quick, although DOW2 took longer. But I'm also one of the original SupCom fans, and was pretty jaded by the sequel.
A Modest Proposal for MMORPGs:
That the means of progression would not be mutually exclusive from the means of enjoyment.

DoW2 for me was a lazy game (compared to DoW1), it was a bit of rush job following SC2 announcement, ofc starcraft 2 got delayed by about a year so more fool Relic.
Take CoH take out 90% of the units and there you have DoW2.
The single player is nothing but 6 maps and the objective in each is to move your group of a few men from the bottom of the screen to the top to fight the same old boss over and over. You are treated to the state of the art 'talking face' who tells you your mission objectives.
Multiplayer is meh after 20 or so games I never returned (and I am an RTS fanatic).
DoW2 is more RPG than RTS.
DoW2 is relics only real failure, Homeworld, DoW1 and CoH all great games but DoW2 not worth the money.
DoW2 also uses the god-awful GFWL (Games for windows live) so don’t expect any fancy lobby or statistics, Relic created Relic.net for CoH, I guess M$ paid Relic off to use GFWL.
Be sure to pick up SC2 in 5 weeks if you want a true competitive RTS with leagues, ladders, replays, statistics, unlockables, custom maps, custom games and endless community content. Plus 100,000's of players for years to come.
In the mean time DoW2 might hold your interest.
all about Dark crusade, SS changed too much turned into a bad game pretty? quick
