I really like the idea behind this game.
But everything i seen so far is very similar to EVE. If you would replace ships with mechanoids , and space with ground. Only slight difference i seen is real time movement (but the combat is not twitch based)
So my question is.
Where are the differences ?
What new / different feature Perpeetum offers, that would potentially make EVE player cross over ?

Just sole fact that you do not warp between 2 grids and WASD movement makes it completely different game.
The look does not always imply what is under the hood.
They feel very very different. Get in the beta!

Interface, graphics and mech setup feel very much like eve.. Gameplay however feels totally different, actually being able to control your mech makes a HUGE difference in the feel of the game.

Just go to their website and apply, considering the genre this game fits in, it's not like the bigger games where there are litterally tens of thousands of applicants. Submit your info and you will most likely get into the beta within a week.

To be honest, I'd disagree with the fact that being able to control the mech using WASD makes it feel different. I tried it for about 5 hours and the complete gameplay felt just like Eve-on-land to me with the exception that Eve looks better and the UI is more polished and intuitive.
If you would have shown me the gameplay before I had tried it, I might have wondered if this was another CCP project. Maybe even DUST 514.
I'm going to break a personal rule here just for the sake of irony: people often go on about WoW Clones. Even though the term "clone" is actually incorrect. However, in terms of taking the gameplay of an existing game and yet not actually measuring up to the predecessor particularly well, Perpetuum is an "Eve Clone".
Personally, I think this is why those who play Eve will love it. Those who don't like Eve probably won't like Perp either.

Perhaps, but to be honest.. If you're gonna pick a game to clone, wouldn't you pick EVE over WoW?? I would.. At least for what I look for in games. Plus, the WoW clone thing has been done, and failed, many times..

Eve has a lot of things right. But, just like how certain later released MMO's pale in comparison to WoW, so Perp MAY be seen to pale in comparison to Eve.
Its one thing to try to emulate a game, but another to match it's quality and THEN surpass it. Another thing is that if you copy a design completely, you could end up copying its flaws too. However, what will be interesting to see is if Perps use of the Eve game design will show that the design itself can once again be popular in a slightly different setting. Personally I have my doubts because of the level of Perp's overall quality isn't that high.

Can't argue anything you said there. But is is a nice breath of fresh air compared to other offerings, which is why I decided to support it.

Game is unplayable for me atm. Looks like it could be a pretty solid competitor to EVE, once they get everything working smoothly. But, it's still pretty far from that.

Its just too much like EVE for me. Adding WASD doesnt make it substantially different if the other 98% of the game is the same. They should have taken EVE and expand on it and/or developed it further.

I think trying to clone EVE and take advantage of its lack of a ground game was a stroke of genius. It will probably insure the game has a healthy rate of initial sub's, so that the game play and world can be safely improved and developed over time.
Comparing this to Aventurines strategy, of trying to corner the ultra-hardcore mantle, one would have to think this game will have much more success.
It's not hard to believe that this idea will lead perpetuum to become the new indy upstart in mmo's. As long as they can deliver on the game play.
Other that a few UI similarities how is Perpetuum a Eve clone?
The only way Perpetuum could be seen as a Eve clones is 1) If you havent played passed Eves free trial and 2) You arent actually in the perpetuum beta.

Unplayable? The game runs on a toaster.
MY laptop that can't even play Eve can run perpetuum.
My Home PC which was a budget pc six years ago runs Perpetuum on mostly medium/high settings.
The game is very easy to play if you played Eve before, the Pve is solid and npcs are extremely challenging.
The core gameplay, combat, graphics, animations, UI are all done really well.
The skill system is a pleasure to behold. Seriously this game may be barebones compared to Eve but compare it to the other sandbox games released the last two+ years and its game of the year material lol!!!!!

To really take off, the game should deliver fast paced small gang warfare that really makes you're heart race. Not to put to fine a point on it, but can Mech's hover.

I was talking about the state the game is right now, the quality of it. I'm sure it will get better eventually, but it's just not there yet for me.
I can play any game on the market on max settings on my desktop and my laptop can play any game at med at least.

Anyone know if there will be a secure NIC buying and selling system sanctioned by the devs like what CCP has for ISK in EVE?
I would just like to add this about this game. Anyone remember 2003-2004 when Eve was first interduced to the world? It was buggy as hell, didn't have even 5% of the content it has now. 6 years from now, Eve is sitting #2 in the ranking of top MMO's. So all I have to say is give Perpetuum some time to grow. Right now it isn't even in Open Beta, and we already have a pretty stable game. Sure alot more could be added, and new or better features even, but you can't expect Perpetuum to stand up against Eve. This game right now is about what Eve was when it was born. So I say let Perpetuum grow up a little, get to retail, and give maybe a year or so of solid development, and we will see where it stands.
Yeh same problem here, i have to tone the graphics down quite a bit to make it playable.
Whole full 5 hours? That is an achievement.
Perpetuum has very little in common with heavily zoned world, tactical combat and economical complexity of EVE Online, a game which you probably didn't play for much longer or got the experience equal to said play time(considering your comments here and EVE forums).
Avatar Creations are improving already existing design, mechanics and features like other developer, CCP included.
