How many people plan on buying this game to play it for just a few months till games like GW2 or SW:TOR will come out?

I am, i know this is not the game for me to stick with for several years, but nevertheless i want to try it out just to have some fun exploring the lands...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Hmm well seeing as SW:TOR is nothing new (nothing bad in it though) it's not gonna hold my attention and definitely isn't on my "long-term" list, maybe just the first free month to play through the doubtlessly amazing storyline.

GW2 is free, so I could play both GW2 and FFXIV at the same time (I only keep 1 active sub / month). Hopefully next year's gonna be pretty cool MMO-wise! image

Not big on Scifi so TOR isn't for me, never really cared for star wars.

Not Big on PvP so GW2 isn't really for me either, if it is F2P then I will pick the game up and just play it on a rainy day or something, but nothing I'm going to dedicate to.

I am big on PvE and community so FFXIV is what i'm going for.

yes wile i was very excited about hearing of FF14 the no pvp thing really doesn't sitt well with me. since i'm not a huge Star War ( os sci-fi) fan i am really hoping that Tera will be my cup of tea. right now i'm hugely torn between buying the pc version of FF14 or wait 5 months for the PS3 version. i'v always wanted to play this game on PS3 but 5 months longer to wait is qutie a long time. not to mention that if i buy the pc version i'll be paing twice for the same game :(.

anyway, yes, wile i hope FF14 will be a fun mmo i doubt it will keep my interest for too long without any pvp and fast paced combat. story and comunity only just doesn't do it for me. i want to challenge of facing reall "human" opposition.

I wouldn't touch this game with a 10' pole.  Everything about the game looks slow and makes me want to fall asleep.  I'm sure it will be great for some, really just those that enjoyed FFXI, but it offers nothing new as far as I can tell.  Just updated graphics, but pretty much the same game as XI.  Since I did not even come close to enjoying FFXI for even a second I will not purchase this game.

I certainly will keep my mind open for the other options, but my best guess at the moment is that FF is the winner of the bunch.
