MMORPG.com's Garrett Fuller had the chance to check out a demo version of Bethesda's Hunted: The Demon Forge at this summer's E3. Hunted: The Demon Forge is a single-player action RPG and, while not usually MMORPG.com's thing, Garrett gives some compelling reasons to check this one out.
Every now and then we take a look at a non-MMO here at MMORPG.com. While some readers don’t like this type of coverage, when we find a good RPG game that really makes us take a second look we give it some coverage. Hunted: The Demon’s Forge is that type of game. A co-op RPG with two characters acting as mercenaries undertaking a wild quest against dark forces, the game has a lot of fun elements for RPG fans and jumps right into the dark fantasy genre.

Bah, ignore the people that moan about non-MMO articles on MMORPG.com, I for one welcome them. I hadn't heard of this game before I read the article, but now I am going to follow it for sure. I generally prefer Sci-Fi to Fantasy, especially High Fantasy (Bleh Elves). However, I do like a little bit of down and dirty Low Fantasy/Sword and Sorcery type stuff ala R.E.H. so this title definately has my interest.
MMORPG History:
Playing - EVE Online.
Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion.
Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9).
Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.
Looks neat, but if it doesn't have local co-op then it's worthless to me. I'm not buying another XB360 just so my fiance can play with me. I wish developers would take this into consideration.
Saw the coverage on this game at E3. It looks pretty darn fun. I am looking forward to it. I am also more than fine having non-MMO games reported on here.
From what I saw of it at E3, it looks like it had local co-op.
Looks cool. It sounds like we would be forced to use a sword and board or bow only. I hope that's not the case. Not that it would stop me from buying it, but I'm not a sword and board kinda guy.
"E’lara is the ranged class using bows and magic, yet she can still switch to melee mode with a short sword and shield."
"The options given to each character allow you to spec skill in a way that best suits your game play."
"Caddoc is the melee master, smashing through opponents with sword and shield. He also gets the ability to use magic..."
"... if you do not have another person to do the co-op play with, you can always run it single player and switch between the two characters depending on who you like to play more."
Looking throught the game list of supposed mmos here, it's more than "every now and then".

lol it looks like the MIght and Magic: dark messiah now bethesda will copy games? well I hope in the end it will be diferent
dark messiah of might and magic? lol?
it wasn't coop game, sure, and it's not a title that Bethesda will copy. It's really different as i see and i read.
I actually like this type of coverage and hope more thingsl iek this come in the future.
Kind of hard for Bethesda to be copying anything when they aren't the developer. The game is published by Bethesda, the developer is InXile Entertainment. Bethesda is a publisher as well as a developer, and publishes more games than they personally develop.

WTH?! This isn't an MMO!
Rabble!... Rabble, Rabble!
I keed. Bethesda is one of my favorite developers, and I trust any RPG they do to be worth *something*. It's just the Star Trek games and everything else they do that worries me.
Ah nvm, I guess it's by InXile. Derp for me.
They did do an awesome Bard's Tale remake, so I guess it's still worth taking note of.

This is the point where your fiance says, "What? I'm not worth a couple hundred dollars?"
And this is the point where he can be glad she's his fiance, and not yet his wife. Cut her gold digging ass loose.

Awesome game.

Good write up Garrett, I agree wholeheartedly.
I've been playing Hunted for a few weeks now, and it has been a solid action RPG experience the entire time.
Fast paced, runs great at max settings on a wide variety of hardware, solid storyline, solid gameplay mechanics. Extremely entertaining co-op play.
Plus, the Crucible, an excellent editor allowing you create your own content. Replay value skyrockets through the roof due to this toolset.
All in all a very good game. I'd recommend it.
