how's the BOT situation?

HogemannHogemann Member Posts: 21

Long ago i left this game because of the bots that were infestin the game. I was at lv42 with my SM and there was full equiped gladiator, mainly, bots running aroung the abyss and fields farming things.

So how's the game doing, any action was taken about this issue or NCSoft just leave this aside like did with L2? About a year after the game launch the situation remains the same?

The great BOT purge of Dec 09 pretty much did them in, I havent seen a BOT in months.  Even the spammers are mostly gone.  There is no longer a BOT problem in Aion

I haven't seen any bots in months. You'll still see the occassional spam in global or whisper, but it's much, much improved over the mess it was at launch.

I have seen several people botting and/or people that can't read english and/or can't be bothered to answer. Ofcourse these people have been reported to NCsoft & their respective Legion officers.

This happened on the Spatalos server..

If not then shame on the private server owners for not cracking down on the botting situation! lol

Just not worth my time anymore.

Here, gentlemen, is what an uneducated post looks like! Indeed! A simple googleing of the words "Spatalos server" would have revealed to our good friend Deron_Barak that Spatalos is indeed an official European server! So much for his accusations! Unto the topic at hand, last time I played was around April 2010, and over the course of the month I did not encounter a single farm bot, although I did receive some very illicit in-game mail regarding activities that would be against the ToS.

    Ah! Son of a...!

My apologies indeed to Dranean as I forgot EU had a seperate site! I did check the NA official site, NA/Oceanic I guess, and seen Nezekan listed hence the misunderstanding.

On topic I had been recieving whispers and in game maiil about "Game Guides" but those have stopped as well.  Unless NC has set up automated counter measures though I imagine they will come in waves only to die down again.

Just not worth my time anymore.

Well thank you all for the replies, but I was chating with a friend who played Aion as well and was my Legionmate in the Divine Legion from Marchutan-US server. He said that after the DEC 09 purge he logged in and rifted to the asmodian side to check the Bots ... he saw many bots there, most of then old ones.

A month after that pruge the Divine legion, who was top 4 on that server, disbanded and the guild left the game. Sadly the game have everything to be the "Wow killer" but the bot detroyed the game for me.

I'm not saying that Wow don't have bots, but I don't see them running around every corner of the maps Ksing quests mobs like they do in Aion.

As said earlier, there's no more "bot situation". There hasn't been one for ~6months.

Nowadays there are less bots in Aion then WoW. Gold spammers were eradicated as well.

The two servers I play on don't seem to have any bots and I might get one whisper every two days about buying gold, but it takes a second to block that.  It's not bad at all anymore.

Make games you want to play.

Interesting. I would like to see for myself if these posts are true, simply because this happened the last time that I read posts saying that the bots were gone and everything's rosey.  I don't suppose there's a way that I can log back in without spending money?

The bots have pretty much cleared out. I used to see bot armies all the time. I can't say I've seen a single one in the last few months. They ban anything that farts funny. I've heard stories of people buying  underpriced items on the broker and being banned for involvement with accounts linked to RMT. The ban was reversed of course, but it still made me chuckle.

I've been playing non-mmo games for 4 or so months now. Really getting bored with single player rpg's and multiplayer fps'. Will probably start dl'ing Aion any second now, purely out of boredom.

If i do that, first thing I'm gonna do is to check the bot situation myself. Because even at launch, people were swearing bots were non-existent.

Not saying you guys aren't honest about what you are saying, no offense, but I'll believe it only when I see it.

On the server I play on I haven't seen any then I made some alts on another server, and saw a bot, and a gold seller in the same day. I think it has to do with which community team is doing their job.

Just want to say, [forget] Aion.

I've been downloading the game since my last post, I've downloaded and redownloaded the full game, numerious patches and full game again (all in just one install process) just to get the 1024 failed to initialize error. I'm not gonna waste any more time with redownloading the game.

If the official way to download the game from scratch is to download the full setup via a torrent file, than just fucking say so, I wouldn't have wasted my time with your fucking NCsoft launcher.

God I'm so pissed right now. Wanted to play the game on a sunday but can't even do that now.

gold seller bots haven't seen them on the last weeks, but players like you and me botting I see them everyday, especially gatering mats, and thats the kind of bots that worry me not the gold sellers (well just abit).

After suffering through the install process, I finally managed to get in the game.

Had a quick look on popular zones (beluslan, morheim, herion etc), saw something like 5 bots in total. As you've noticed those are low level zones, still I was able to spot them right away.

In all fairness though, its no where near the amounts of bots at launch (I couldn't kill a mob without 3 bots ksing me for example). Its probably nearer the amount of bots other games have (eq2/wow like western games at least). BUT, it is more visible because of the tunnel like zones.

Since the game population is quite low (again, when compaired to launch), I guess no one bothers to report and no one bothers to check those reports.

I'll probably play it until I'm bored / found something more interesting. For the record,I wasn't bored at launch, it was just, bots were everywhere, so I couldn't even play

In other games also there's a bot.. I think all mmorpg can't excape on that third party program >.<

This is a good review although I've never seen that much, and I'm playing two servers atm. One thing too is if there is a bot/PC who's giving you issues you can change zone channels too. This is especially helpful if you get into a heavily populated zone, or some douche bag is stealing your crafting mats ect. Just remember if you group that all of you are the same channel or you won't be able to see them. Happy hunting.

p.s. That's why I love Aion is because it's always reminded me of EQ.
